Heres some info from IGN.

Motomu Toriyama is interviewed in the latest issue of Famitsu's periodic PS3 offshoot, Famitsu PS3. The focus of this issue is on Square Enix's recent DKS3713 event, and the FFXIII director ended up discussing a number of areas regarding the lead project in the Fabula Nova Crystallis franchise, including the upcoming demo that, as announced at the event, will be bundled next March with the Japanese release of Final Fantasy VII Advent Children Complete.

Describing the demo, Toriyama said, "Like the FFVII demo that was included with PlayStation's Tobal Nol.1, you'll be able to play from the opening through the prologue. We're making it so that players will understand about the world of the Cocoon and how the Lucys are handled."

Toriyama hinted that the demo could be of substantial length. While not giving a specific play time, he said, "We'd like to make it something with lots of volume." To this, he added with a laugh, "I think it will be longer than FFVIIAC."

As to what all that content will consist of, Toriyama wouldn't get too specific. He did confirm, however, that the realtime sequence that was shown in the DKS3713 trailer won't be included. That section of the game actually follows the demo, Toriyama explained, mirroring comments that were made by the development staff in a documentary film that aired at the event.

During the demo, players will be able to take control of more than just Lightening. The mysterious blonde-haired male character from the trailers will be playable as well.

Toriyama clarified a bit about how FFXIII handles its characters. There's no actual "main character" in the game. Players will experience the story from the perspective of multiple characters, something that he refers to as being a "new style." The demo will offer a glimpse at this new type of storytelling system. He considers players sampling the new system to be a major point for the demo.

The game's battle system appears to reflect this switching off of characters. The game's battle system is party-based, Toriyama explained. Players switch between characters as they fight.

Toriyama also shared a few general details on FFXIII aside from the demo.

The blonde-haired male character who will be playable alongside Lighting in the demo is still without a name, but Toriyama confirmed that the character will also have a name in the motif of weather.

Asked about the tattoo that the character appears to have on his arm, Toriyama noted that it's not actually a tattoo. Other people will have something similar in different areas of their body. While the details are a secret, he suggested people consider the symbol to be something related to the Lucy.

The realtime sequence that closed off the DKS3713 trailer showed the current cast of characters battling enemies in a subterranean field -- possibly a cave. Toriyama confirmed that this area of the world is at the very lowest levels of Cocoon, and a closed off space. Also, while this section of the world appears to be covered in ice, it's not actually ice, but crystals.

I wish my bed-hair turned out like that.

darksnowman, I think it's fair to assume that the term 'Lucy' derives from a troubled translation of l'Cie (that's a lowercase 'L') which are apparently the chosen ones of some higher race, the fal'Cie. It mentions both in the E3 trailer; I haven't been following the story hints at all.

In my opinion steering completely clear of anything relating to the plot is best, what with people usually overhyped before the game is even released if they do too much reading.

With FFXII I read up quite a bit before the game was released and felt the whole thing wasn't fresh to me as I played it, while the previous PS1 FFs were all new to me.

I know you're not meant to resort to violence so easily, but i'd love to wail on that punk. I love the bit where he goes "i don't know if you know anything bout japanese culture - but i'm an expert". This game looks insane i'm glad its on the 360 got no plans for a ps3 for a while.

And so emerges the 'not so graphically brilliant' screenshots that are always tucked away until the hype has died down somewhat. Still looks great though.

?!?

They all look great.

Nah, those screenshots look more in-game while the previous ones have all been near FMV quality. It could just be the quality of those images though.

Yar I agree, but its still nice to know a few terms so we can understand what they talk about in interviews and stuff.

PS3 IGN Final Fantasy XIII

At long last, Final Fantasy XIII fanatics can stop referring to that blond-haired dude with the bandanna as that blond-haired dude with the bandanna. Thanks to the latest Famitsu, he now has a name, and as promised it's based off the weather.

Meet Snow Villiers. As you probably know, he has blond hair and he wears a bandanna. Famitsu describes Snow as one of the l'Cie, those people who are chosen by the fal'Cie to perform some mission. He has a positive outlook on things, but often makes his move without thinking.

Famitsu speculates, presumably based off the many new realtime screenshots included on its pages (for those who have the magazine, all shots on the third and fourth page of the FFXIII feature are real time), that Snow takes his mission, as handed out fal'Cie, seriously. He believes that in following the mission, he will be helping to protect the world.

IGN PS3: Final Fantasy Versus XIII

As part of a twelve page blowout on the Fabula Nova Crystallis series this week, Famitsu gave FF Versus XIII its fair share with four pages of coverage. Unfortunately, there's no gameplay information, and most of the details are just speculation based off the included screenshots (all of which are confirmed by the magazine to be real time), but there are a few new bits of information on the hero and heroine.

The names of the two were revealed at the Tokyo Game Show to be Noctis Lucis Caelum and Stella Nox Fleuret. Stella is described by the magazine as a princess in the Fleuret family.

She and Noctis are shown in the magazine's screens discussing their ability to "see light." This may not sound all that special at first, but in Versus XIII, it's an ability that Noctis suggests keeping quiet about. Stella appears to be more open about the matter, even asking Noctis when he gained the ability.

Wondering what the characters' names mean? Typical for the FNC series, the two names are Latin. The three parts of the hero's name mean "Night, Light, and Sky." The three parts of the heroine's name mean "Star, Darkness, and Sword." Darkness is also the meaning of Stella's country's name.

Director and character designer Tetsuya Nomura shared with the magazine a few additional details on the characters. Nomura feels that the trailer footage (which you probably haven't seen, unless you made it out to the Tokyo Game Show) tells us a lot about the personalities of the two characters. Stella, for instance, is shown speaking politely to Noctis and without any apparent reserve. This is a reflection of her strong upbringing. In contrast, Noctis appears to be running away, and won't even make eye contact. It may appear that Noctis is cold and unsocial, but he's actually just shy, and he hides his shyness by putting on a veil of coolness.

Regarding Noctis, Nomura also notes that he may say one thing, but by watching him closely, you'll get the feeling that there's something different about him. His friends are often able to see through the cover, though.

Needless to say, despite four pages of coverage, Versus XIII still remains the most mysterious of the Fabula Nova Crystallis series. Things are slowly falling into place, though, with the main characters named and now detailed. Who knows -- perhaps the next update will come with a few hints at gameplay.

PSP IGN: Final Fantasy Agito XIII

In Agito, you play as a student who attends a magic school. Following an attack on your capital city of Rebrum by the Empire of Milites, which uses its own technology to make the crystals of its opponents ineffective, your fellow students end up leading the cause to free the city.

Students in your school all have their own specialties when it comes to weapons. When you first start out the game, you get to select the character type of your preference.

The game's battle system has the look of a traditional menu-based system, with a menu offering selections for attack, heal, and classic Final Fantasy spells. You face off against both soldiers from the invading army and against monsters.

Famitsu offers a look at characters who make use of whips, cards, and katana blades as their weapons (strangely, the screens in the magazine have the characters listed with their weapons as their names). Each weapon has its own unique characteristics which you'll have to make proper use of in order to be successful on the battle field.

In addition to weapons, you also make use of summon spells, with past creatures like Odin and Ragnarok confirmed for appearance. The summoned beast appears in place of your character, and is directly controllable by you. As previously disclosed, there's a raising component to the game when it comes to the summons.

Please god, let this be pure TURN-BASED, I hate that FF12 rendition of crapness. Anyone played FF-X2? That speedier TB system should be the norm, I feel.

Word on that. FFXII was just disguised turn-based - you couldn't attack until the bar filled up, and moving around in battle did nothing really. You'd still be hit even if you were a fair bit away from the enemy so being able to move around the enemy was just for show.

All it meant was that there were a million more enemies to fight to get through the dungeon as they didn't have the 'entering battle' sequences and had to rack up the play time somehow.
