Posted March 18, 2010 [ATTACH]3319[/ATTACH] Just for fun. After looking at this picture i wondered what 1 word other forum members could come up with to either sum up this photo ( cr@p is not allowed lol ) It could be a name for the photo, how it makes them feel or what they think it means. Try not looking at other ppl's posts before you post your own so as not to be influenced. As i obviously i took the photo, i have my own interpretation of it but that is influenced by knowing the story behind the photo. I just thought it would be interesting to see an outsiders interpretation of what is going on or see how different people interpret 1 image. Hope all that made sense, oh & you can criticize the photo all you like once you have named it lol. Time. -- I like, whether intentional or not, the flowers / calander being in the shot. Lots of life and passing of time / looking too far into it. Good idea for a forum game of sorts though. Use a word to describe the above poster's photo or something. Here's one of mine - Pah, facebook has big photos now, lame. Also, I'm thinking of buying an entry level DSLR - any recomendations? Nice, nice. Micro four thirds interest me, though ultimately they're actually more expensive than the lowest end DSLRs so yeah. I've also heard that picture quality isn't quite as good. Recently bought the 55-200mm Nikon lens to go with it and it makes a great camera. The guide mode is very simple as well as takes some great photos. Here's a couple from January I took with My D3000. Posted March 21, 2010 I got the D3000 and while a little more pricey it's worth it. Recently bought the 55-200mm Nikon lens to go with it and it makes a great camera. The guide mode is very simple as well as takes some great photos. Here's a couple from January I took with My D3000. Nice, I'd read that the Nikon has slightly less sharpness than the other two (Something about converting the RAW) But those two photos look pretty stunning. Posted April 6, 2010 A few from my bike ride where I met up with the parents and dog: I decided to use the camera in full manual mode since it was getting a bit dark. Posted April 9, 2010 (edited) Saw a tutorial on "fake HDR" so thought I'd give it a try with an old image. Doesn't look very HDR to me, but it turned out OK IMO. Just had a go at proper HDR using a trial of Photomatix. Never realised my camera had a bracketing setting. Good times: In red flavour: Not the best subject for HDR really, but it was just a test. I know DA and Flickr are the typical but I stumbled upon this one a while ago and set it all up today to show a potential client (as my previous host was unreliable) for a wedding (hence why most of it is wedding-orientated): http://www.coroflot.com/ashleytwo It's free and offers unlimited uploading. And it has a job-based community linked to it (although not really checked it out I presume its American-focused). Only bad thing I can think of really is the name, which sounds like some weird sex act. Hopefully it'll land me the wedding ^_^ Personally, I'd warm up the images a bit by adding some red and yellow in the colour balance. Maybe a bit tighter cropping too so the main focus is the people, without other distractions. For example, in Jones Wedding 2010 Image 11 (the one with them cutting the cake), I'd consider cropping out the heart as it distracts too much from couple cutting the cake, which should be the main focus of the image. I also noticed some "unfortunate placement" in picture 12. The guy to the right appears to have a balloon for a head. It's awesome. That's just my opinion though, I'm no expert (I've never done wedding photography before) and the fun of photography is that it's subjective. All the images seem good to me, just need some minor tweaks in Photoshop IMO. Had another go at HDR today. This time I actually went to find a decent subject. My discoveries for today: Trees are a pain for HDR as they move too much between shots, even if there appears to be no wind. Water and fire seem to work nicely. Tree trunks work nicely. It is possible to HDR a person/animal as long as they stay still. Cloudless skies are shit. I can see why a lot of people consider HDR to be cheating. The effort/awesomeness ratio is rather favourable. The images I took took hardly any effort at all. I guess the skill is in getting truly amazing pictures.
