CompSci Posted April 21, 2006 Posted April 21, 2006 Here's a bunch of rumors coming from a spanish site claiming some pretty intense stuff. The information was (if you would believe) obtained from a Microsoft employee and published on Meristation. The rumors are plentiful and if true, 2006 will officially be the year of the Xbox 360. Source: Meristation.com - The premium pack will cost $100 less in october. - The core system will cost $80 less. - Gears of War will be out in the last week of October with a huge budget for the advertising. - HD-DVD out in September $100. - New hard disk (100GB) But no price and date available. : peace: - Webcam "My Eye on You" (September $50-$70 bundled with a game). - More than 50 new Xbox games in June compatible with the 360. :yay: - The bandwidth of the server will be increased by 5. - Halo 3 will be in the market in March 2007, first video at the E3. - Possible exclusive right for an "urban game" think Grand Theft Auto, Microsoft in working on it. - The price of the Xbox Live Gold will be reduced or even free with commercials on the dashboard for October. - The production of the Xbox 360 is increasing 2x in all the factories. - Exclusive agreement with Paramount picture for High definition content for Xbox Live. - Agreement with NBC, to see all the Xbox Live tournaments as a spectator. - Agreement with Epic record for exclusive content in Xbox Live. - New dashboard for kids. - Kameo 2 is on the way. : peace: - New feature, download and play is coming. - Before October the Xbox 360 will be virtual console, playing all sega games. - A lot of Arcade Xbox Live games are coming. - New dashboard is coming.
Babooo Posted April 21, 2006 Posted April 21, 2006 Even though I doubt that will all happen, it'll be awesome if some turn out to be true. Particularly the price drops, as I still don't have a 360..
CoolFunkMan Posted April 21, 2006 Posted April 21, 2006 All sounds good to me, if even some of it is true I'll be happy. Some of those look far more realistic than other rumors I've seen. Price reductions/free gold accounts is whishful thinking though. :/ - New feature, download and play is coming. I'll take a guess that this feature will let you play a game/browse the dashboard whilst being able to download items from the marketplace in the background. I hope it's this anyway, I'm fed up of having to stare at a download screen for ages...
Jon Posted April 21, 2006 Posted April 21, 2006 I would be suprised if the HD-DVD drive is quite as cheap as that, according to Chris Lewis, the guy that is in charge of Microsoft Europe, we will be hearing about the HD-DVD drive and the possible HDMI cable at E3.
rokhed00 Posted April 21, 2006 Posted April 21, 2006 - Gears of War will be out in the last week of October with a huge budget for the advertising. That's the one I'm interested in, shame the waits longer than expected.
Hero-of-Time Posted April 21, 2006 Posted April 21, 2006 Take with a pinch of salt but Spong have also got word that the XBL Arcade is getting a major update. Many Sega games are said to be heading our way aswell as many Arcade classics. http://news.spong.com/article/9913
m_fergy Posted April 21, 2006 Posted April 21, 2006 aye SEGA games would be wkd playing on Sonic and Alex The Kid again And a new dashboard would be great, im thinking of the same really but you will be able to change the icons aswell, so when you download a theme it will change everything not just the backgrounds
Jamba Posted April 21, 2006 Posted April 21, 2006 aye SEGA games would be wkd playing on Sonic and Alex The Kid again And a new dashboard would be great, im thinking of the same really but you will be able to change the icons aswell, so when you download a theme it will change everything not just the backgrounds Tut-tut... there is no "the" for little Alex.
m_fergy Posted April 21, 2006 Posted April 21, 2006 Tut-tut... there is no "the" for little Alex. Just checked the box cover and there isnt always thought there was for some reason
Guest Stefkov Posted April 21, 2006 Posted April 21, 2006 so is this also for EU, cos its a spanish site and it has the prices in $'s? which kinda confuses me.. so will it be wise to hold out on a 360 if you wanted to get one now, and it sounds ike a price drop is a comin'?
ShadowV7 Posted April 21, 2006 Posted April 21, 2006 You could pretty much tell about the price drop happening to try and shift the sales for when the Revolution and PS3 come's out.
Jamba Posted April 21, 2006 Posted April 21, 2006 Errr... you guys are actually buying (as in believing) this? Isn't it totally unsubstantiated?
rokhed00 Posted April 21, 2006 Posted April 21, 2006 Errr... you guys are actually buying (as in believing) this? Isn't it totally unsubstantiated? Why not, a fair bit of it seems realistic enough, no reason to doubt that at least some of it is possible.
ShadowV7 Posted April 21, 2006 Posted April 21, 2006 I'm with rokhed ,alot of it is realistic. Some might be fake ,but a lot does seem like it could be true.
Kurtle Squad Posted April 21, 2006 Posted April 21, 2006 It's obvious there will be price drops along those lines. Especially with the PS3 round the corner
Jamba Posted April 21, 2006 Posted April 21, 2006 True enough. It's not like Microsoft haven't ripped themselves off price-wise before. You really think Live could become free though?
Guest Jordan Posted April 21, 2006 Posted April 21, 2006 True enough. It's not like Microsoft haven't ripped themselves off price-wise before. You really think Live could become free though? I think it'll become a 3 tier system. Gold will become Platinum. Silver will stay the same A new version of gold, it'll be silver with play at the weekends but with ads galore.
mario114 Posted April 21, 2006 Posted April 21, 2006 Some really intresting stuff there, most intresting are price drops, gears of war, halo3.
Gaijin von Snikbah Posted April 21, 2006 Posted April 21, 2006 That almost made me a little interested.
CompSci Posted April 22, 2006 Author Posted April 22, 2006 True enough. It's not like Microsoft haven't ripped themselves off price-wise before. You really think Live could become free though? yeah but with adds galore to compensate
Nintendork Posted April 22, 2006 Posted April 22, 2006 Just heard about SEGA and MAME making the back catalogue, the word on all these upgrades really really makes me warey. To an extent where I wont be buying a 360 in the next 12 months. Sorry Microsoft but WTH.. you shouldn't have released it if you weren't happy with the specification.. the Slimline PS2 was fine, because it was merely a power and design overhaul, we're talking performance and HD-DVD upgrades as well as price wars. You'd be a fool to buy a 360 today unless there's a game you're excited about. I also agree, Microsoft has ad partnerships through MSN networks and will gladly implement them on the Live service if Nintendo's and Sony's online services cause Live to come under scrutiny from consumers questioning "Why do we have to pay?"
DiemetriX Posted April 22, 2006 Posted April 22, 2006 Sorry Microsoft but WTH.. you shouldn't have released it if you weren't happy with the specification.. the Slimline PS2 was fine, because it was merely a power and design overhaul, we're talking performance and HD-DVD upgrades as well as price wars. You'd be a fool to buy a 360 today unless there's a game you're excited about. Thers not a performance upgrade, Just a component upgrade. All games will work equaly on all versions of 360. And the HD-DVD add-on is external.
