Goron_3 Posted June 7, 2008 Posted June 7, 2008 I could point you in the direction of places on the net to buy each of those for cheaper than that if you wish? Even cheaper? Go for it
McPhee Posted June 8, 2008 Posted June 8, 2008 Halo 3 - £12.99 http://www.powerplaydirect.com/asp/itemdetails.asp?prodID=1293962&currsec=ga&refID=webgains&siteid=13961 Mass Effect - £16.99 (prob better to buy from powerplay, see the next item for why) http://www.thegamecollection.net/mass-effect-xbox360-p-2074.html http://www.powerplaydirect.com/asp/itemdetails.asp?prodID=1441437&currsec=GA&refID=webgains&siteid=1065 Bioshock - £16.99 (can be had cheaper for thegamecollection.net, but sometimes they don't send sealed games) http://www.thehut.com/hut/8630713.product Bioshock Collectors Edition - £24.99 http://www.game.co.uk/PC/Action/FirstPersonShooter/~r331544/Bioshock-Collectors-Edition/ Lost Odyssey - £18.99 http://www.powerplaydirect.com/asp/itemdetails.asp?prodID=1293968&refID=webgains&siteid=20363 Hows that for you? Not huge savings, but all are new copys
LegoMan1031 Posted June 8, 2008 Posted June 8, 2008 Some good prices there. Halo 3 is tempting me at that price but i didn't like Halo 2 and never played the first so i don't expect to even like it.
Babooo Posted June 8, 2008 Posted June 8, 2008 is power play direct reliable? The prices are good but the websites look suspect. At this moment, I'd rather order from the likes of PLAY/Amazon tbh despite the higher prices...unless someone can verify what power play direct is like.
LegoMan1031 Posted June 8, 2008 Posted June 8, 2008 hmm, reviews are abit mixed there... I prob wont use them anyway. I normally buy my games from ASDA now unless i want to pre-order i tend to use gameplay. If i'm after a cheap game i normally go with ebay.
Goron_3 Posted June 8, 2008 Posted June 8, 2008 Cheers for those prices McPhee. Never realised how cheap 360 games are!
The fish Posted June 8, 2008 Posted June 8, 2008 Think I'll stick with play.com. Shopto.net are the way to go. Cheap, and give you free next day delivery. Loads of people from this forum do as I do, and buy pretty much every game the get from them.
Heaven Posted June 8, 2008 Posted June 8, 2008 Microsoft will unveil new RPG'S this Tuesday link : http://blogs.ign.com/Erik-IGN/2008/06/06/92208/ More 360 RPGs TBA? Microsoft is holding an event in Japan next week called the Xbox 360 RPG Premiere 2008. It's happening June 10 (Tuesday) with the "RPG Title Announcement Media Event" going from 4:00-5:15. That's Japanese time, which is 16 hours ahead (I think) of California, so that should put the timing at about midnight on Monday evening here. I'm told the announcements are intended for the Japanese audience, though I'd be very surprised if any of those games didn't make it to the States eventually. Along with a new announcement or two, we'll probably get an update on some RPGs we already know are on the way. Perhaps we'll even find out what Mistwalker is working on next. Anoop, IGN's Japanese correspondent, is planning on attending the event so we should find out what's going on as soon as he knows. http://www.1up.com/do/blogEntry?bId=8762178&publicUserId=4549175 It's been a while since I've written one of these types of blogs. But yeah, I'm off to Japan for over a week to do that thing I do. What am I going to see? Well, the only thing I can disclose right now is that Microsoft is having a press conference in Shibuya next Tuesday, to show off its line-up of role-playing games. Yeah, on Xbox 360. Go figure. At least two of those will be Last Remnant and Infinite Undiscovery, but they apparently have some surprises up their sleeve.[ But that's only on Tuesday. I have meetings from Monday straight through to the following weekend, and those meetings are top-secret. I will say that all of these visits will benefit you, the reader, in both Electronic Gaming Monthly and on 1UP.

Goron_3 Posted June 8, 2008 Posted June 8, 2008 Wicked news Infinite dsicovery looked amazing from the first trailer. Unless i'm thinking of the wrong trailer, it reminded me alot of Tales of Symphonia. Always a good sign tbh. If FFXIII is announced then wow, that would be amazing and it would be fitting because the event is in Japan right? Would cause quite an upset News on the new Tales game would be wicked aswell.
Cube Posted June 8, 2008 Posted June 8, 2008 We'll probably get FFXIII spinoff number three hundred and forty five on the 360.
Shorty Posted June 8, 2008 Posted June 8, 2008 FFXIII would actually be awesome, and not that surprising really, especially if they're having an event especially for RPGs. I recently picked up 10 and 12 (although haven't played them at all really, since I have so many games to get through) so it would be cool to keep going. I won't hold my breath though
Heaven Posted June 8, 2008 Posted June 8, 2008 Rumor: Microsoft to "Upstage" Apple WWDC With Xbox 360 Blu-Ray Announcement Microsoft's on-again, off-again relationship with an Xbox 360 Blu-Ray drive looks set to be on again this Monday. As you all know by now, Monday marks the beginning of Apple's annual WWDC, and a little bird told us something is going to be announced by Steve Jobs there during his keynote. Microsoft doesn't care; a tipster told CrunchGear it's going to "upstage" Jobs, Apple and the entire known tech-using world by announcing an Xbox 360 with Blu-Ray drive one hour before the beginning of the conference. Wrote the tipster: I‘ve got a close friend who works at Microsoft, previously with the HD-DVD division and now in the E&D division (Xbox, zune). I’m told MS will upstage Apple with a Monday 9am PDT announcement (1 hour before WWDC) via press release that the Xbox 360 will get Blu-Ray before Christmas. Price was “under the current Eliteâ€, but i could get any more details http://gizmodo.com/5014340/rumor-mic...y-announcement

Loads of people from this forum do as I do, and buy pretty much every game the get from them. As I just posted in the GAME Reward card thread: Using your MGS example: Shopto £36.99 - £1.48 (4% of £37) = £35.51 GAME £39.99 - £2 - £4.40 (11% of £40) = £33.59 Edit: Not to mention GAME.co.uk more often than not have vouchers floating around for £3 or £5 off! Obviously it's not always like that, but I'd say the majority of the time GAME is the cheapest option, and I've always had very good delivery from them, something I can't say of Shopto or Play.

I don't really think anyone will be talking all that much about another Blu Ray drive really.
gmac Posted June 8, 2008 Posted June 8, 2008 yeah I don't see how that upstages a 3G iPhone, or whatever Steve Jobs pulls out his magic hat
Cube Posted June 8, 2008 Posted June 8, 2008 yeah I don't see how that upstages a 3G iPhone, or whatever Steve Jobs pulls out his magic hat Microsoft using Blu-Ray is much more interesting than Apple finally upgrading to what has been standard for quite a few years.

Every order I've gotten from shopto have always come within a great time period. Pre-orders always comes on the Thursday or Friday the latest. Normal orders come really quick aswell, Rock Band I ordered on a bank holiday weekend. It came on the Tuesday, I think. I like the sound of Game having these codes aroud most of the time. I might use them more, with the reward card aswell sounds pretty good.
That Guy Posted June 8, 2008 Posted June 8, 2008 Microsoft using Blu-Ray is much more interesting than Apple finally upgrading to what has been standard for quite a few years. I'm not bothered about the 3G use, it's software related stuff I'm after. I still fail to see how this upstages, or is even related to what Apple will be doing the same day. Who really cares if they can play Blu Rays on an Xbox?
gaggle64 Posted June 8, 2008 Posted June 8, 2008 I think I' may just pop in to town and pick up GRID tomorrow. I was going to wait, but the F1 got me all depressed. I'm spending way too much time on the demo anyway.

I love the idea of the flashback thingy, very clever indeed. Gameplay and graphics looks very impressive too. Only think i don't like is the lack of split screen multiplayer.
