Still getting outsold by the Wii and 360.

The PS3 has surprised me, no way would I have thought I'd say that the PS3 is my favourite out of all three consoles a couple of months ago, and I never owned a PS2 I always had an xbox. But it is my fave at the moment.

I'm now on my third 360 in a year which is just pathetic in my opinion.

I do like Xbox Live, it's just a pity that the console is not well designed and sounds like a banshee.

If another one breaks down I'm giving up on it. (fingers crossed it don't)

Especailly as I'm really getting into Crackdown now, it's one hell of an addictive game.

Here it's probably gonna be like, 1000 euros.

However, if I'm able to find one for 600 euros, which I doubt I will, I'll most likely buy it.

# March 23, AUD$999.95 confirmed as launch details

# There'll be over 30 games available for the Australian launch.

# All first-party Sony titles will be AUD.$99.95

# Sixaxis confirmed as $79.95, Blu-Ray remote at $49.95.

# Australian launch units will ship with firmware version 1.5

# Like Europe, we'll be getting Casino Royale at launch, and like Europe, it'll go to those who are the first register their new consoles on the PlayStation network. Only the first 20,000 to register will score one, though.

# Gran Turismo HD will be available at launch.

# QANTAS are going to be giving away 1000 PS3s in a competition. Sounds great, but considering we're rumoured to be getting only 11,000 consoles at launch (something I couldn't clear up today, either), giving away 1000 in a competition is a bit rich.

# No price point has been determined yet for microtransactions over the service.

This is totally fucked up obvisouly sony published games like jak and daxter will work - but what about okami/final fantasys/metal gear solid. etc.

Not that I have a clue how it works at all, but if theres some sort of coding or whatever that goes into it, then they should make those uber titles compatible. If FFs arent playable the chances that I will get a PS3 will be yet more diminished.

When I get one (One day) I will want to play the FFs.

Sony has again FUCKED over their PAL fans

Sony, Soiny, Sony. when will you every think

Sony admits that the support for PlayStation and PlayStation 2 games in Europe will not be as good as the US and Japan.

Gamespot : The European model of the PlayStation 3, due to launch on March 23, will use different hardware specifications to the models already released in Japan on November 11, 2006, and the US on November 17, Sony announced in a statement today.

The European PS3s will be designed differently, meaning that a "new combination of hardware and software emulation" will only enable the new PS3s to be compatible with a "limited range" of PS2 titles, and a "broad range" of original PlayStation games.

A Sony spokesperson told Reuters that "the backwards compatibility is not going to be as good as the US and Japan models."

SCEE president David Reeves added, "PS3 is first and foremost a system that excels in playing games specifically designed to exploit the power and potential of the PS3 system. Games designed for PS3 offer incredible graphics quality, stunning gameplay and massively improved audio and video fidelity that is simply not achievable with PS and PS2 games. Rather than concentrate on PS2 backwards compatibility, in the future, company resources will be increasingly focused on developing new games and entertainment features exclusively for PS3, truly taking advantage of this exciting technology."

In a statement the company added that some additional titles would be made compatible through regular firmware updates--a similar setup as in the US, where initially some previous Sony format games experienced problems, but many were fixed through online updates for the console. The Japanese and American PS3s play an estimated 98 percent of the old games. The first update is planned for the European and Australian launch on March 23

haha who would have thought that the Wii would have the best backwards compatibility this generation?

lmao. yeah i don't think ANYONE saw that coming actually.

I was actually considering getting a ps3 considering backwards compatability...but na screw it. I think i'm just going to migrate to the whole Wii60 thing. Although, that said, if it turns out the the ps3 gets AMAZING games, then i might change me mind...

Yeah not like Nintendo have never done/do that.

Well, then I'd be just as fucked off. Saying it's not like Nintendo haven't ever done that isn't a reason not to think this is a joke...
