colormonkey Posted March 23, 2006 Posted March 23, 2006 it could be the code name for the next gameboy, I guess its feasible to have that announced this year, now that DS is safely established as a separate platform. Actually it would be the fifth GameBoy. Gameboy Gameboy Color Gameboy Advance Gameboy Advance SP But if its a real name, its probably for the Revolution.

Guest Jordan Posted March 23, 2006 Posted March 23, 2006 Wow... it kinda makes sense if its called Go then. 5th console.
21st century cowboy Posted March 23, 2006 Posted March 23, 2006 Typed GO in Wikipedia. This came up. Go", a Japanese pseudonym; see art-name http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Art-name An art-name (in Japanese, gō) is a pseudonym, or penname, used by a Japanese artist, which they sometimes change. In some cases, artists adopted different gō at different stages of their career, usually to mark significant changes in their life.
colormonkey Posted March 23, 2006 Posted March 23, 2006 OK OK!! Does GO mean 8 in any language? So it seems like GO is a very good name for the japanese market. But how about everyone else? I dont think they will use different name for the other regions.
DiemetriX Posted March 23, 2006 Posted March 23, 2006 Go does mean 5 in japanese Ichi, ni, san, chi, GO! 1 2 3 4 5 If i remember correctly.
Pestneb Posted March 23, 2006 Posted March 23, 2006 article on the main site points out the D pad shape - 3 d-pad shapes. could this be something like online for the gameboy, ds and revolution?
Jay Posted March 23, 2006 Posted March 23, 2006 I'm happy with go as the name for Nintendo's Online service (Nintendo Go, Xbox Live - Fair Do's) but as the system name they could make a total mess of things, they have the potential to create a new image for themselves with this system but calling it "Go" isn't going to do that, they may as well just call it the "Nintendo Happy Happy Fun Box" and get it over with. We should find out in the next couple of hours, I hope. To be perfectly honest I'd rather bring the name Nintendo On back
Gabrian Posted March 23, 2006 Posted March 23, 2006 It probably is the future name for Nintendo WiFi, I think. That would be not too bad.
monkeyDluffy Posted March 23, 2006 Posted March 23, 2006 how about "super happy joy joy japanese death machine"? or SHJJJDM for short:)
Kav Posted March 23, 2006 Posted March 23, 2006 ...they may as well just call it the "Nintendo Happy Happy Fun Box" Ya know what's funny (well ok it's not actually funny), in IGN's pre-GDC podcast Matt says he likes the Idea of the name being the "Nintendo Funbox"... I don't like it!
DiemetriX Posted March 23, 2006 Posted March 23, 2006 He was kidding. He also said They would be a DSlite 2 with the power of two sunns. I Hope this is the name for the online service. I would love it for the new WFC name.
MunKy Posted March 23, 2006 Posted March 23, 2006 I thought Funbox was a nickname for a certain partof the female anatomy. People would buy one just for the double entendres!
mike-zim Posted March 23, 2006 Posted March 23, 2006 how about "super happy joy joy japanese death machine"? or SHJJJDM for short:) quoated for laughter value. really made me chuckle.
dazzybee Posted March 23, 2006 Posted March 23, 2006 4 is Shi or Yon, not chi. Sorry for being anal . IF this is real then N5 it is, I'm fine with that, sounds more 'tech' anyway! Is anywhere doing a live update of the speech?
mike-zim Posted March 23, 2006 Posted March 23, 2006 no there are new recording devices allowed untill 5 mins AFTER the keynotes have ended.
Fields Posted March 23, 2006 Posted March 23, 2006 Personally I think the Go name and logo are pretty cool. But of course, it is just about as fake as it gets. Feel free to ridicule me in a few hours time when it turns out to be real...
Cold Fire Posted March 23, 2006 Posted March 23, 2006 Nintendo Go? Please please dont be true, it sounds childish yet again, and we need Ninty to move away from this image. Maybe its fine in Japan (Go = 5 n all that), but not in the western world. I say Nintendo Revolutionary System all the way, goes so well with the DS
Adrian DX Posted March 23, 2006 Posted March 23, 2006 I'll cry tonight if they change the name from Revolution to Go... omg how lame
CooInTheZoo Posted March 23, 2006 Posted March 23, 2006 am i the only one who doesnt give a fuck what its called? i will still buy it and play it. it may sound immature, but it wont stop me saying the word 'go' they could call it something fantastic and you would still get people moaning..
