Posted January 2, 2010 There Will Be Blood is definitely one of my favourite films ever. But for me No Country for Old Men would be my favourite... and therefore film of the decade. For me. I keep saying for me because I'm scared O_W is going to come in here and tell me off. I fear him. Yeah, but I'd only tell you off if you said something like Casino Royale is film of the decade. You know, something that doesn't deserve it at all (although CR is awesome). TWBB is my film of the decade. Posted January 2, 2010 Australia: 4/10 Someone should tell Baz Luhrman that quirky cinematography does not equate to a good film, nor does having talented leads turn an average story into a good one. Posted January 2, 2010 (edited) Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl It were alright, it wasn't bad. Nice to look at but I thought the story was quite weak. Jack Sparrow made it funny though. 7/10 Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest The first one was much better, I kept zoning in and out of the movie because it was getting boring. Good thing Keira Knightley is in it. Story wasn't so bad but far from good. Again, Johnny Depp was good. 6/10 Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End The longest and the worst of the lot. It was just boring all the way through. The only thing that was good was the visuals and when it ended. I thought the battle was quite good and then... they get married while trying to fight off bad guys? WTF! Possibly the most stupid thing I've seen in a movie. Even Keira Knightley couldn't save this abomination. Even Johnny Depp was pretty bad in it, I wanted to punch him half the time. I won't be watching the fourth (well, I might if I want a laugh) 2/10 The Twilight Saga: New Moon Decided to watch again since one of my friends hadn't watched it. It was crap the second time round. I got bored quick and the acting was possibly the worst acting I've ever seen in my entire life, WHERE WAS THE EMOTION? I still think that Bella sounded like a gorilla when she was having her nightmares. I didn't like the book either but piss me was the movie shite. I definately prefer the original, I think the performances were a lot better (Except maybe for Tim Roth in the US one), especially the guy who plays Paul in the original, he was awesomely creepy. Posted January 2, 2010 I'm pretty sure if played completely, it's about 4 hours. Almost no productions of Hamlet include the full text though. (Unless I'm making this up...pretty sure I was told that) But yeah, loved the RSC Boxing Day production. Missed the last section unfortunately. Might catch back up with that. I have No Country sitting here in front of me. I really should watch it. I really enjoyed Casino Royale as well, but Quantum Of Solace was nowhere near as good. Posted January 2, 2010 (edited) Spirited Away I have this on DVD but it was on BBC2 this morning and I couldn't resist watching again (for possibly the tenth time). It's hard not to fall in love with the animation. It's just so beautiful and the storyline is one of the best I've seen in an anime. 10/10 Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind Watched this after. Again, beautiful and the characters and the creatures are stunning to the last detail. 10/10 I feel like digging through all my anime movies again . Posted January 3, 2010 I Could Never Be Your Woman I had never heard of this film..which I found strange, it had so many famous people in it. Michelle Pfieffer, Paul Rudd, the Fonz guy who is also in Arrested Development, Mackenzie Crook, Graham Norton (!) and David Mitchell. Written/directed by the woman who did Clueless. It was strange. I...liked it. An unusual "romantic comedy". It was very well-written, sharp/snappy/whatever. Short too. Nice cinematography. Hmm. Posted January 3, 2010 Sherlock Holmes Was a good movie but didn't think it was that great. 6.5/10 Seeing Avatar in 3D on Monday so I'm looking forward to that....anyone else notice how packed out the cinema is whenever there's a showing of Avatar?
