V. Amoleo Posted April 10 Posted April 10 Just got my Nintendo Store invite! So I'm going to cancel my Game Collection order to free that up for someone else. 1
Jimbob Posted April 10 Posted April 10 (edited) I didn't get lucky with MNS for a pre-order invite. Never really do, i did meet the critera they were asking for (2 years NSO, over 50 hrs play and have emails opted in). Even so, i think it was a lottery ala the Preview event and Alarmo, so hey ho. However, i have my Argos order secured (unless they monumentally screw up) and a back-up in the form of Amazon (they gave a 22 hour window from an invite link, which i locked in last weekend). Also managed to get a Pro controller, carry case and MicroSD Express ordered through ShopTo. Weird how the SD card is locked for those who've not pre-ordered a Switch 2 on MNS. I'm done for now, let the waiting game begin. Edited April 10 by Jimbob 1
Julius Posted April 10 Posted April 10 Well, have a guess at what I'm still waiting on... Tomorrow, right? Surely? Do find it a bit strange that my previous NES, SNES and N64 NSO controller purchases from the Nintendo Store aren't helping me out here, but whatever 16 minutes ago, Jimbob said: Weird how the SD card is locked for those who've not pre-ordered a Switch 2 on MNS. As with the GCN NSO controller, I'm pretty sure that you only need the invite to pre-order a Switch 2 via the Nintendo Store to purchase the microSD Express cards from there, as the wording used is the same: It is strange that it's locked behind an invite, though, considering that these microSD Express cards are available elsewhere (such as via SanDisk themselves, and ShopTo like you mentioned). Makes me a bit nervous about my ShopTo pre-order for the card considering that they also had GCN NSO controllers up at first, clearly not understanding that they were Nintendo Store exclusive, but whereas NSO controllers have always remained Nintendo Store exclusive, the officially Nintendo-branded microSDs for the Switch are available elsewhere too. Guess we'll need to wait and see

They did have the GameCube NSO controller up for order, but the image was of a 3rd party HORI pad. Weird locking an SD card behind an invite link. Amazon have MicroSD Express cards for sale, 256gb as well. They're not Nintendo branded, but should work all the same. Edited April 10 by Jimbob

Oof, I hadn't even noticed that, I just assumed that they jumped the gun but had used an image of the GCN NSO controller. What's crazier is that you can still see this with a quick Google search (though the link now returns a 404 error): Oh dear 7 minutes ago, Jimbob said: They're not Nintendo branded, but should work all the same. Emerald Emblem Posted April 11 Posted April 11 I managed to secure my Mario Kart Tour console bundle from Argos after spending the beginning of the week checking every website, every morning. Registered interest on ShopTo and Amazon, ShopTo confirmed I wasn't getting in the launch batch and Amazon stopped(?) the invite system. I was checking around UK gaming news outlets and saw that Argos were taking more pre-orders, but since the article was an hour since publication I was not hopeful, but luckily for me when I checked they were still taking them. The website was busy so I was really stressing that they would all go before I could get the order in and I lost my place in the queue trying to figure out how to apply the gift card I got (Workplace has a Gift Card discount scheme, had to take out a £440 Gift card as they only accept gift cards 10's so I get the bundle for £415 plus leftover Gift Card balance of £6) but I happily still got an order in and the next day they sent a text confirming I was getting it Launch day, so I've booked a 5 day weekend from Launch to commit to playing and streaming it on Twitch. I also decided to pick up Bravely Default since it was cheap. 3 1
Julius Posted April 11 Posted April 11 There's an update on invites in the US – which will now be going out May 8th, a month later than initially planned, including the invite criteria, which matches other regions. Per IGN: Quote Nintendo has confirmed when it will notify fans about their invitation to buy a Switch 2 in the U.S. and Canada following the tariff-enforced pre-order delay. Pre-orders for Nintendo's next-gen console were set to go live across the world on April 9, but economic chaos caused by Trump's tariffs forced Nintendo to issue a delay in the U.S. first, and then Canada. Pre-orders went ahead as planned elsewhere, including in the UK. Now, in a FAQ posted to Nintendo's website, the company said the first batch of invitations will now go out starting May 8, 2025, a month later than planned. Quote Additional batches of invitation emails will then be sent "periodically" until purchasing on My Nintendo Store is opened to everyone, Nintendo added. Initial invitation emails will be delivered on a first-come, first-serve basis to "eligible registrants who meet the priority criteria," Nintendo explained. Invitees will have 72 hours from the time when the email is sent to complete their purchase. Quote Nintendo Switch 2 pre-order invitation priority requirements: you must have been the one who purchased any Nintendo Switch Online membership you must have had any paid Nintendo Switch Online membership for a minimum of 12 months, and you must have opted in to share gameplay data and have at least 50 hours total gameplay hours. An important thing to note: Quote There is no word, however, on whether Nintendo plans to stick to its already announced pricing for the Switch 2, its games (some of which cost $79.99), and accessories, or increase them. Some analysts have expressed concern that Nintendo may be forced to raise the price of the base Switch 2 beyond $449.99 as a result of the ongoing tariff war, but Nintendo has yet to make an announcement one way or the other. These guys are going to get invites before me, aren't they? 1
Jimbob Posted April 11 Posted April 11 I'll be surprised if prices in the US don't increase for Switch 2 because of the tariffs. The US is a big market for Nintendo, so maybe they'll look to either swallow some costs themselves and pass some onto the consumer or bump the cost up altogether. And yes, US fans may get an invite before me as well @Julius. I'm never fortunate on the Nintendo lotteries, and if i did get an invite, i'd more than likely just use it to get the GameCube controller as i have a locked in (well, 2) Switch 2 order. 1

Yeah, at this point if we got invites I'm kind of curious to know if they'd still be projecting delivery for launch? I imagine the Nintendo Store has a good % of the Switch 2 units going up over here and it seems to be a bit of a drip feed since the first wave of invites. Likewise, my priority is that GCN NSO controller. I don't mind the launch line-up not being as stacked because it means I get to just focus on trying out Mario Kart World and then trying out the GameCube NSO games – unless anything else gets announced Wind Waker is basically going to be my single-player launch title, so I'd definitely like to have the controller to go with it! Though I suppose I could also just use an adapter and see if I can get my hands on one of those Smash Ultimate GCN controllers they put out for a relatively newer model... It's a bit rough at this point purely because I'm 99% sure I fit the criteria now but am just worried my email address has been dropped into the aether, but at the same time, I've been pretty fortunate with quite a few lottery systems over the past 12 months (NES World Championships, some Closed Network Tests, the Switch 2 Experience), with this only the second one (including non-gaming things) in that period where I feel like I've "lost", and even then, that's only for now. The new Pro Controller got restocked after showing as sold out the other day too, so even if this GCN NSO controller somehow runs out temporarily, I think they'd show as being back in stock pretty quickly. Just got to keep the positive vibes going and I'm sure our invites will turn up eventually maybe maybe Edited April 11 by Julius

Just got to keep the positive vibes going and I'm sure our invites will turn up eventually maybe maybe In terms of Nintendo lotteries, most recent i got into was that "Mystery Game" thing they ran last year, didn't get into others. I mean, it is what it is. Wasn't lucky with Nintendo, i guess that was meant to be. I certainly fitted the criteria, but it was a lottery after all. Speaking of lotteries, ShopTo invited me to upgrade my Back Order (i was meaning to pay it last week) to a confirmed Day 1 order, just have 24 hours to pay. Sounds corny, but i trust ShopTo more than i would Argos, and Amazon with it's 2 days after release delivery date as confirmed (i checked with customer services, they confirmed the 7th as delivery day and wouldn't be any earlier) Edit: Who was it who said Argos can be awkward. I'll say so, just cancelling an order is a blooming minefield. The auto chat says i can't cancel, the agent is saying the supplier will decide if i can cancel. Shouldn't really be this hard should it? Edited April 15 by Jimbob Extra info 2
S.C.G Posted April 16 Posted April 16 Update - Argos took the money for my Switch 2 pre-order a few days ago. Also, it turns out that I should now have a 'spare' Switch 2 console, as I pre-ordered a second console, carry case and second physical copy of Mario Kart World when I got the chance to with My Nintendo Store, so if anyone who hasn't managed to secure a pre-order and would still like to get a Switch 2 close to launch day, let me know. If you can pay for the console a week or two before it releases, or whenever Nintendo plan to take the money for the console, let me know, send me a PM and if you want the carry case with screen protector, and/or Mario Kart World physical edition, also let me know. No worries either way, as if there are no takers, then I could just sell the Switch 2 in my shop either on or just after launch day... I'm sure it will sell, heck, if it's in short supply, I might even be able to get a good cash deal for it at CEX or something equally as daft, as I seem to remember something like that happening when the PS5 came out and was in short supply... but I'd rather offer it to someone here for what I'll be paying for it, plus probably postage cost of £25 to send it insured, Special Delivery... as I need to have it shipped here first, as I don't want to mess with any of the address details at this point. Plus I may even be able to add in some cool extra items, either some old game accessories, or some Pokémon toys or something, heck even Pokémon cards... basically whatever I stock at the shop, just let me know what you like, and I'll hook you up with some kind of bonus for hopefully agreeing to buy the Switch 2 from me. 1
Julius Posted Friday at 01:52 PM Posted Friday at 01:52 PM (edited) Details on pricing in the US have finally been released following the whole tariff ordeal, as well as the announcement that retail pre-orders are set to go up over there on 24th April. The long and short of it is that the price for consoles and games will remain the same as previously announced, however accessories will see a price increase. Per Nintendo: Quote Retail pre-orders for Nintendo Switch 2 will begin on April 24, 2025. At launch, the price for Nintendo Switch 2 in the U.S. will remain as announced on April 2 at $449.99, and the Nintendo Switch 2 + Mario Kart World bundle will remain as announced at $499.99. Pricing for both physical and digital versions of Mario Kart World ($79.99) and Donkey Kong Bananza ($69.99) will also remain unchanged at launch. Quote However, Nintendo Switch 2 accessories will experience price adjustments from those announced on April 2 due to changes in market conditions. Other adjustments to the price of any Nintendo product are also possible in the future depending on market conditions. Quote Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price - As of April 18, 2025 Nintendo Switch 2 - $449.99 Nintendo Switch 2 + Mario Kart World Bundle - $499.99 Mario Kart World - $79.99 Donkey Kong Bananza - $69.99 Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller - $84.99 Joy-Con 2 Pair - $94.99 Joy-Con 2 Charging Grip - $39.99 Joy-Con 2 Strap - $13.99 Joy-Con 2 Wheel Set - $24.99 Nintendo Switch 2 Camera - $54.99 Nintendo Switch 2 Dock Set - $119.99 Nintendo Switch 2 Carrying Case & Screen Protector - $39.99 Nintendo Switch 2 All-In-One Carrying Case - $84.99 Nintendo Switch 2 AC Adapter - $34.99 Samsung microSD Express Card – 256GB for Nintendo Switch™ 2 - $59.99 Pre-order links going up a few places now too: Edited Friday at 02:06 PM by Julius 1
Julius Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago (edited) Looks like pre-orders for the GameCube NSO controller via My Nintendo Store UK will be opening up outside of invites today, given that clicking onto the product page provides an actual pre-order page rather than the request for an invite-associated email address as it did before: Worth noting, however, that attempting to pre-order currently results in an error message saying that you've reached the maximum capacity allowed, even if you've not purchased the controller yet (as is the case for me). Reminder: you must be an NSO subscriber to pre-order. Had a quick scroll through the thread for those waiting on an update for this and didn't get an invite from Nintendo to pre-order before – @Will @Jimbob @Cubechris @Ashley think you guys were also waiting for this to open up, with this update it might be worth keeping an eye out?
