Resident Evil 4, Onimusha 3: Demon Siege and Devil May Cry 3: Dante's Awakening Special Edition Coming to PCs Beginning February 2006

LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM – FEBRUARY 1, 2006 – Today Ubisoft, one of the world's largest video game publishers, announced that it has signed an agreement with Capcom to distribute Resident Evil 4, Onimusha 3 and Devil May Cry 3: Dante's Awakening Special Edition video games for the PC. Ubisoft will distribute Capcom's games in North American and European territories beginning in February 2006 with the release of Onimusha 3: Demon Siege.

"Capcom has created fantastic universes which have become blockbuster franchises," said Jay Cohen, vice president of publishing at Ubisoft. "Ubisoft is excited to be bringing three of the industry's most innovative titles, including Resident Evil 4, which has been recognized by many publications and organizations as the best game of the year for 2005, to PC gamers around the world."

Resident Evil 4 is a shining star in the survival horror genre garnering critical acclaim and numerous "Game of the Year" awards from media outlets including Game Informer magazine, North America's largest gaming magazine and GameSpot.com, a leading source for gaming information. Onimusha 3: Demon Siege stars French actor Jean Reno and is the latest episode in the Onimusha franchise. This action adventure series has become a phenomenon thanks to its amazing backdrop in medieval Japan mixed with heroic fantasy elements. Devil May Cry made an outstanding debut on console and quickly became a popular action game. Renowned for its gothic atmosphere, non-stop action and thrilling combat, the latest installment to the franchise adds a new character a new boss and many new levels.

"Capcom is excited to be taking advantage of Ubisoft's global distribution network to deliver our hottest titles for gamers around the world to play and enjoy," said Toshihiro Tokumaru, executive officer at Capcom. "We look forward to working together for continued growth for both companies."

I have to say that RE4 might be cool with a keyboard+mouse. Wasn't expecting this.

Should make Overload quite happy, as someone rather bitterly replied it wasn't true when he posted it at DVD Reviewer.

Anyway not too surprising, makes sense from a money point.

That sounds cool but I doubt RE4 will be the same with the mouse. It felt so natural with the GC controller. I know a mouse would be better but often console games feel a bit awkward on PC but if there's some more bonus content I'll get it and maybe the other two games too although I don't know much about them but what I heard was pretty good.

Ah it's Onimusha 3, not the new one. I've completed all of those games but It could be interesting to see what they look like when you bump the res up, especially with Resident Evil 4.

Are you including RE4 in this statement? Because I don't see why it wouldn't work well on PC.

People who have had hands on say that aiming is a little dodgy. Probably because you can't move and shoot at the same time, which feels kinda alien on a keyboard and mouse set up.

I can't figure out how RE4 aiming would work with the mouse, unless you just aim and click where you want to fire... which would take all the aiming fun out of RE4.

Sorry to bump this old thread but I wanted to comment on Onimusha 3, I got it yesterday.

The game itself is really enjoyable but the port itself is horrible. I could cope with the low polygons and blurry textures, that seem to be taken directly from the PS2 game without any improvement. The same can be said about the in game hints, like press R1 and "Square". My keyboard has no R1 button and no "Square" button either, so this leaves me to look up in the manual for what action R1 and "Square" stand for.

But the list goes on, besides not being able to play it on many ATI cards, the game always starts in windowed mode but that can be changed by adding - fullscreen to the properties of the shortcut. The graphics can't be costumized a lot, apart from the resolution.

Overall a bad port of a good game, but with a PS2 like gamepad it should be ok, the Keyboard controls feature too many button combinations but after a while they start to make sense, so it isn't too bad either.

Still this port comes right after Driv3r in my personal list of worst console ports.
