killthenet Posted May 17 Posted May 17 (edited) Well there's a report today about how Bungie is in a bit of a state about how Marathon has been received so far (not helped by the pretty clear plagiarism claim lobbied against them). They are considering delaying it to do more polishing but it's not a very good start to be mired in controversy already. I don't think the generic title will really help them either, it certainly didn't help the last live service failure (I literally spent like 3 minutes trying to find out what the title of Concord was before I made this post - had completely forgotten what it was called) Edited May 17 by killthenet

I agree though, it's not a great name. Me and a lad at work were talking about Bungie just last week. All of their past FPS games have a really good feel and the gunplay is top notch but everything about the company is a shell of who they once were. Given all the stuff that has gone on with them since the acquisition, Sony must be fuming that they spent 3 billion on them, especially if Marathon flops.

Crazy how many things are coming to PlayStation from Xbox before Halo, really makes you wonder what their plans are for that franchise on PlayStation. Anyways, sure, I'm in for this. Good excuse for me to finally play the first game too.
Julius Posted May 21 Posted May 21 The PlayStation Stars loyalty program is officially winding down, with qualifying points redeemable until November 2026. They're now looking ahead to what form a loyalty program could take next on PlayStation. Quote At Sony Interactive, we’re always experimenting with new and exciting ways to bring our community of players together to share the joys of gaming and create lasting memories. That’s why three years ago, we created PlayStation Stars, a loyalty program to celebrate our players. The unique program includes playing games to earn rewards – including our unique Digital Collectibles that pay homage to incredible games and our PlayStation legacy. The program has helped foster a deeper connection with fans around the world. Quote Since launching the program, we’ve learned a lot from evaluating the types of activities our players respond best to, and as a company, we are always evolving with player and industry trends. Through this evaluation, we have decided to refocus our efforts and will be winding down the current version of PlayStation Stars. We will continue to evaluate our key findings from this program, and are looking into ways to build upon these learnings. Quote Here are some key things to know as these changes take place: Starting today, PlayStation Stars will no longer accept new members for this version of the program. If members choose to cancel their PlayStation Stars membership starting today, it will not be possible to rejoin this version of the program, and members will lose all earned Points. Current PlayStation Stars members can still earn Digital Collectibles, Points and level up their status until July 23, 2025 at 7:59AM PDT | 3:59PM BST | 11:59PM JST. After this date, there will be no new PlayStation Stars Campaigns available, or any additional rewards or status benefits to earn. This version of the PlayStation Stars program will fully end on November 2, 2026 and current PlayStation Stars members can continue to redeem Points as long as their Points don’t expire before then. Quote We also wanted to let you know that PlayStation Stars members can still access their Digital Collectibles, even after these changes take place. We want to thank all of our players for supporting PlayStation Stars since the launch in 2022. As we explore new ways to evolve our loyalty program efforts for the future, we’ll continue to celebrate all of our players through the various community activities we have planned. The programs we create are all inspired by you, and we look forward to bringing you compelling new experiences for many generations to come. 1
Hero-of-Time Posted May 21 Posted May 21 Sad but it doesn't surprise me. The whole thing was half hearted and a lot of the times the thing just didn't work properly. 1

Yeah, honestly it reminded me of that community fair play function the console launched with and was demised after very minimal use. Just seems like such an afterthought. Bit of a shame, as well, because with so many of these Xbox-published games making their way over as digital-only releases, I was finally starting to rack up some decent points! Need to make sure I remember to cash out. Honestly, I think they should take a page out of Nintendo's book when it comes to the Platinum points. Let's see some unique PlayStation IP avatars and Welcome backgrounds, let's see some official merch made available for legacy IP, heck let's go beyond that and have the points be able to go towards hardware or have earn double points when spent on PlayStation first-party games, weekends/periods where points go further (I think LEGO has something similar), and have a similar approach where points go twice as far when buying Classics available through subscriptions (also make way more Classics available, lol). There's so much they could do, honestly Edited May 21 by Julius

Jimbob Posted May 21 Posted May 21 Well, that's my £5 now and then gone. I just cashed out my last £5, so it's there for when i fancy a small deal.
Hero-of-Time Posted May 22 Posted May 22 I have a few games on my wishlist that are digital only games and a couple that come with both versions of the game. The likes of Suikoden collection and Ys Memoire only have a PS5 physical release and so it makes more sense to buy the digital ones where you get both PS4 and PS5 versions. I may have to start snapping these games up now while I can still get some points for them. Hopefully they will go on sale before the Stars system ends. Saying that, the digital version of Ys Memoire is still cheaper than the physical, even with a discount.
Hero-of-Time Posted May 23 Posted May 23 I've got a few of these. Yakuza 0, Final Fantasy 7: Rebirth and Dragon Quest Heroes II all come to mind when I think of this topic.
Hero-of-Time Posted May 24 Posted May 24 Days of Play looks to be starting next week. Quote Sony's annual Days of Play sales promotion is set to begin next week on 28th May, according to the ever-reliable leaker Billbil-Kun. In a fresh article on Dealabs, they state the discounts on offer will be live for two weeks, and are temporarily lowering the price of PS5 consoles, games, accessories, and PS Plus memberships. These even includes the PS5 Pro.

At this rate I'd be very surprised if it ships. Sony chasing after the GaaS market has really been an absolute disaster for them.
Hero-of-Time Posted Wednesday at 11:16 AM Posted Wednesday at 11:16 AM Days of Play sale started today. @Julius just how many Dual Sense controllers will you be buying? 1
Julius Posted Wednesday at 11:25 AM Posted Wednesday at 11:25 AM 3 minutes ago, Hero-of-Time said: Days of Play sale started today. @Julius just how many Dual Sense controllers will you be buying? Probably none. Probably. Honestly at this point I think I'm just waiting for the inevitable (right..?) Ghost of Yōtei-themed Dualsense to be announced, beyond that I'm still humming and hawing over picking up the Helldivers II one or importing the FFXVI one from Japan. The Switch 2 arriving next week and being indecisive about whether or not I want to pick anything else up for it, or figuring out when I pick up Clair Obscur, is definitely making it a bit easier to let the sales pass me by We've also recently upgraded our internet to the point I'd be comfortable picking up a Portal (so I can get trophies during my evening wind-downs, also makes the prospect of grinding out some of Infinite Wealth when I get back to it a lot easier to deal with), which is a DualSense in its own way I guess, but I feel like if I do go for that eventually it's probably smarter to wait until Black Friday/Christmas sales. I'm honestly a bit surprised it isn't included in the Days of Play sales as it is! But then there's also all those rumours of PlayStation releasing a handheld capable of downloading the games rather than just streaming in the next few years, and that sounds much more enticing to me, so I guess we'll see 1
drahkon Posted Thursday at 09:06 AM Posted Thursday at 09:06 AM I finally have some time to play Gravity Circuit (and maybe Pepper Grinder, as well). @Hero-of-Time any tips? Any missable trophies?

Any missable trophies? Pepper Grinder doesn't have any missables. Gravity Circuit requires multiple play throughs if you want the platinum. Quote First playthrough: New Game, find as much stuff as you want, and you can finish collecting everything in New Game+. You can get all achievements except the ones that I am about to list on this file alone. Don't worry about "missing anything" on this file. Second playthrough: New Game+ for MISSION - ALL OVER AGAIN!. Third playthrough: Circuit Mode for CIRCUIT STYLE FINISH! This mode just means that you can Burst when out of energy, and it will instead consume 3 HP. In your Circuit Mode run, if you also avoid collecting any burst energy upgrades (ALREADY ENERGETIC!), health upgrades (ALREADY HEALTHY!), or purchasing any additional enhancement chips (ALMOST CHIPLESS!) or burst techniques (ALMOST TECHNIQUELESS!), you only need these three playthroughs. 1

I just have images of you sobering up and wondering where all the platinums came from. Back in the 360 days, my nephew used to play online with a guy over in Europe (can't remember where he was from) and he was constantly high when in the party chat. Made for some funny conversations. 1

drahkon Posted 17 hours ago Posted 17 hours ago Roboquest YES! Well worth the price of admission My mate and I played it for 3 hours straight just now. It's sooo good. Movement, gunplay, classes, upgrades...it's an FPS + roguelite dream We're playing on hard difficulty and getting our balls rocked. Good times By the way, as soon as I listened to a few tracks of the game I knew the composer had to be Noisescream. Since I've played Midnight Fight Express, I have his music in several of my Spotify playlists. These bangers slap!
