It's honestly getting to the point where I'm really hating this hobby more and more. Prices of games continue to keep going up and that's without putting things like battles passes, DLC, season pass on top of the main price. Games are launching half baked and not even fully on physical media. Every company seems to be nickel and diming their user base, which is probably because the audience is shrinking and so they are needing to squeeze every penny out of the gamers they already have. Even Nintendo are at it, what with them charging for a tech demo and increasing the price of their games. The industry is just a mess.

The UK price of the PS5 digital being the same price as the Mario Kart Switch 2 bundle is probably great news for Nintendo.

Annoying news. Not particularly for me, though.

I'll probably stick with the PS5 until quite a bit into the 2030s. PS+ is keeping me afloat and it's not too big of an investment per year.

Considering how things are playing out, I feel Sony will do the same as well. :D

I'm still working through PS4 games and will probably be doing so for quite a well yet.

Not forgetting re-releasing Breath of the Wild at an increased price, and not including it's DLC (game is 8 years old)

Usually by now, console prices are coming down in price.  Not going up.......

The PS5 digital edition is practically the same price (near enough) as the disc edition PS5 was at launch now.  Coupled with an increase in PS+ in some areas, this really is becoming a niche market.  I did read on a Reddit post that Sony may want to consider re-branding the PS5 Pro into the PS6 going forward if prices just keep going up.

On one side now, it's making the Switch 2 look better.

I did read about that but wasn't sure if it was true or not. Crazy if it is.

Crazy but not surprising. Nintendo is up there with the worst (in my opinion the worst) when it comes to re-releases and pricing.

Then again, these days every company is the worst :p

This is why I do my challenges. New games are pretty much a birthday and Christmas thing now.

My purchasing on brand new games has fallen off a cliff over the past year or so. I'm mostly happy enough to wait until things go on sale. I've been quite tempted to back to the PS3 as there are a lot of games on there that I never got around to playing. Most are pretty cheap as well.

Just like when we were all kids

I do the same, get the challenges in on any games for some PSN credit.  Did save some for a PS+ renewal last year, saved me about £25

Attended PlayStation: The Concert at the Utilita here in Birmingham on Monday night with some mates, and we had a blast.

Before going in there was some special merch, which was obscenely expensive. £45 for a printed t-shirt?! £25 for a tote bag?! £40 for a cap?!?!?! Despite a super cool Tsushima t-shirt, I had to pass – I simply couldn't justify it. Even the t-shirts at Star Wars Celebration were only £25-£30 a pop for comparison!

There was an opening medley which incorporated a few themes from games not focused on during the show (including Days Gone – love that game's main theme!), but I think going in and seeing these characters up there with the PlayStation symbols while we waited for the concert to start...

...made it sting all the more that the scores for Ueda's games weren't present anywhere. It's hard for me to complain I suppose given that 2 of the 3 PlayStation first-party games in my personal Top 10 were represented (Bloodborne and The Last of Us), but Shadow of the Colossus being the third and it not turning up definitely stung. Even more so seeing as Shadow and Guardian were the ONLY games featured in the symbols slideshow before the start to not feature during the concert!

It was good to hear the startup PS1 sound at the beginning, though.

While I enjoyed it a lot, there were some weird parts, such as how we only got more gameplay and cutscenes shown as the concert went on, with Horizon basically having special animations and stills, whereas by the time of TLOU and God of War came around, we were getting substantially more. The lights show on the blinds was cool throughout. It also being a concert to celebrate 30 years of PlayStation and then focusing on games from the last 13 years (Uncharted representation was clearly focused on 4 outside of the opening and closing medleys), with Journey being the oldest (?!), was a bit wild to me.

I knew about the "one more thing" game they were going to play music from going in - saw it when trying to figure out how long the show was when reading up on the Dublin concert - and made sure to not spoil it for my friends given their love for the game, but honestly, I think they should've finished on Astro Bot instead. Some girl screamed bloody murder when that last game's music started, though, so that was hilarious

Highlight of the show for me was the Blood Upon the Snow cover, wasn't sure if they'd be allowed to cover it, but they were and the lead vocalist killed it!

Anyways, it was a great night. It was funny afterwards realising that Horizon Forbidden West was the only game with its own dedicated section that I hadn't played (wasn't the biggest fan of Zero Dawn), which really speaks to the quality of the games they decided to centre the concert around, which ironically was mostly around PS3 and PS4 IP - even Helldivers II is a sequel to a PS4 game. That was great to hear too, though, given me and my mates have got into it recently, and the performers capped that off with a Helldivers salute, which we all returned in kind :D

This was my first concert too, and it was pretty chill! Looking forward to going to more in the future, for sure :peace:

Somehow the 30th anniversary UI has returned!

Time to turn that PS2 theme and those sounds back on :D
