Glen-i Posted January 4 Posted January 4 Righty-o, back to the regular schedule this week. Time format, with Custom Stages starting from 7:30pm. 1
BowserBasher Posted January 4 Posted January 4 Timed always seems to bring out the close matches, as well as some very one sided ones. Great games. Also, @Glen-i, pick your own dang character and stop copying me three times in a row nearly.

Glen-i Posted January 5 Posted January 5 Oh, right. Almost forgot. Absolutely busted a gut with laughter, @RedShell. I think you have an idea of what stage I'm talking about.

I think you have an idea of what stage I'm talking about. Yeah, about that... It's obviously a WIP, I made it a while back (around the same time as the Excitebike one) it was an attempt to create the most ridiculous and unplayable custom stage ever made... again. I think I may have succeeded. But as you saw, the current Switch is not really up to the task of processing it. It needs Switch 2 power! It is fun when someone activates a Final Smash on there though, and you see the frame rate suddenly jump from single digits back up to 60 FPS! Before absolutely tanking again. I've never manually selected that stage before (for obvious reasons ) but knew it would eventually show up at some point via random select, and well, it finally did. I had an inkling before the match even started actually, as only stages with endless terrain cause the loading screen to lag, and we'd already played on the Excitebike one before that. Anyway, glad it gave you a laugh. 1

Yeah me and @Glen-i were on VC and were like “oh little lag, it’ll be ok” then a minute later it was “please don’t die on us, you can do it” as we saw it hitting 1fps lol Absolutely crazy stage and I hope it does show its face again. 1
Glen-i Posted 21 hours ago Posted 21 hours ago Stock format tonight. Custom nonsense starts at 7:30pm. 1
Glen-i Posted 11 hours ago Posted 11 hours ago @BowserBasher and me on voice chat desperately wanting to say "That's an actual Smash Ball! Go for it!" on Flat Zone X there.
Ike Posted 10 hours ago Posted 10 hours ago There's no way that hit when you where at the top of the screen. I honestly think matches would be better without the Smash Meter, sometimes it just comes own to whose fills first when it's the end of the match.

Great custom matches @RedShell I can’t believe you didn’t see the second sudden death where I dodged behind you and hit you for the win coming. It was a carbon copy of the first time.

Zelda's Final Smash is one of the most ridiculous ones ever, I'm not even gonna dispute that, the suction range is far too big, so when it comes down to 1v1, there's not really much the other person can do. The Smash Meter is a tricky one, because for every Zelda and Diddy Kong, there's a few characters who would really struggle to confirm a KO without it. That said, I think you do have somewhat of a point. I don't want to get rid of it, because I quite like the mechanic. So how about this? Each time I rotate back around to Time format, I'll toggle the FS Meter Off/On.
Ike Posted 7 hours ago Posted 7 hours ago Only if everyone else agrees. I don't want to force people to play my way. I'm fine with leaving it the way it is.

I think one of the best things about Smash Bros is the customisability of it all. Now, I personally think there are some setups that I would never want to do (No items, Omega stages only, stuff like that), but things that change up the dynamic while still maintaining some level of chaos are worth playing. The FS Meter is just one way of changing that dynamic, and that sense of anything being able to happen isn't lost by removing just that. And it's not like Final Smashes won't be a factor, because the Smash Ball will still be around, if anything, during cycles where the FS Meter is turned off, that Smash Ball might become more desirable. I'm not aganist the idea, as long as the FS Meter doesn't go away for good.
