Taken from PSBlog: Hardware: Rivals is an explosive, over-the-top, vehicle combat game where you pit yourself against other drivers in heavy tanks or fast attack vehicles. Battle online through multiple maps, game modes, challenges and special events. As you take down your enemies, you will collect bounties for hunting your biggest rivals. You can play as a lone wolf or as part of a team. Check out our launch trailer above. We’ve been busy tweaking the game based on your feedback from October’s beta trial, and also putting the finishing touches on a ton of new stuff. We’ve added another map, Outpost 92 – a frozen, deep-core mining facility drowning in snow and ice, cut off in the face of a blizzard. It’s the ideal place to try out our new vehicles: the Sledgehammer (Tank) and Nomad (FAV). They’ll be lining up alongside the Predator and Wraith, ready for you to unleash devastation. All four vehicles can acquire a whole load of skins and add-ons that you can use to customise the look of your vehicle. Whether you want to trick out your Hardware with a bunch of military gear, or just put a hula-skirt on your tank, there’s something for everyone. You can also upgrade the handling and weapons systems of each vehicle, catering for whatever engagement style suits you best.

I've downloaded it but can't be arsed to give it a go myself I only had a very quick go of it ( making sure not to get any trophies ) just to see how it controlled. Seems a little slow and bland TBH.

We're not talking Rocket League levels of fun, but it can still be a good laugh.You should definitely at least try it. I only had a very quick go of it ( making sure not to get any trophies ) just to see how it controlled. drahkon Posted January 7, 2016 Posted January 7, 2016 Thanks for the impressions. Think I'll give this a miss then. Read around some gaming sites and the game seems bland. I'll stick with Rocket League and Black Ops for my multiplayer fix. Maybe Hardware Rivals will improve over time.

Sure, it doesn't exactly make a good first impression, and with only 4 maps and 2 vehicle types it is kind of basic, but it's also damn good fun once you get into it! And the railgun event that's going on this weekend is great. One shot kills at pretty much any distance! There's something so satisfying about pulling off a 180 degree handbrake turn and then insta-killing a player that was on your tail! :awesome: Or picking people off in midair!

It's 5 on 5. I'm not sure if it will go smoothly for you. Me, Josh and Rowan tried it but found that the game is rubbish at finding opponents for you if you are in a party. You can get games fine if you play on your own but as soon as you add people to the group the game gets a bit picky. Played it for the best part of the day today. I've quite enjoyed it. It's some simple, no brainer fun. I'd still be on it but I needed to charge my pad.

I sent a couple your way as well, when the game gave me the option to. Weird how you can't manually do it. Yeah, it was a right laugh. I actually joined your game last night by accident. I just randomly searched for a match and it plonked me into your game. I quite like how the little challenges pop up in the corner, although i'm not sure how to do a couple of them, due to how vague their description is. Rowan has one for the Temple Jump that I simply can't beat, despite going full throttle. *shakes angry first* The game is quite fun but they really need to sort out the matchmaking issues. There needs to be a punishment for people rage quitting. I've seen loads of people leave the game after they get killed a bunch of times. They also need to fill matches up, rather than have people be in separate games. It's very rare to play in a match where it is actually 5 on 5. It has a great pick up and play feel though. I'm a bit burned out from gaming at the moment and this is hitting the sweet spot of being fun not not being challenging. I just fire it up and away I go. Hell, I haven't even tried any of the other vehicles out yet. I'm level 20 ( only started it yesterday but the double exp really helped ) and still rocking the same car.

I like how bonkers the physics are in this game, adds an extra layer of crazy to the proceedings. :awesome:

And after watching some videos I think 5 on 5 matches on those large maps might become boring quickly? Not too much action going on?

Plenty going on, especially when someone hits the map specific weapon. It creates a massive scramble to get to safety and most the time everybody ends up at the same place and all hell breaks loose.

It could be sooooo much more, though. Matchmaking needs to be improved as quickly as possible and an option to turn down aim sensitivity is desperately needed. Have only used a tank. They feel too slow after using the car for so long. I'll have to use it some more at some point to get the 150 kills. Yeah, the matchmaking does have issues. I don't think it places people in a game that's already started very often. If the numbers start to dwindle in a match then I usually quit that lobby after the game is over and then search for a new one. Managed to nab the Challenger trophy yesterday. It's a little glitchy and many have had issues getting, which is why the percentage is so low. I beat a bunch of RedShells times but it still wouldn't unlock. I then beat one of Rowans and then it popped. The trophy for killing 3 people at the same time is a little glitchy as well. I've done this numerous times with the map specific weapons and it still hasn't unlocked. I may have to boost this one. I've nearly learnt all the positions of the map specific weapons now. I think there's only one of them on the snow map that i'm not sure of where it spawns. One of the tunes in this really reminds me of both: I'm not a huge fan of the music. I've usually got some tunes just playing on my phone or listening to a podcast while i'm playing.

Yeah, my advice would be to wait until you've unlocked all of the driver upgrades before going for that one (at least that's what I would've done, if I could go back in time ) will speed up the process slightly. Nah, there is 3 locations per stage. I know about the one in the center and there's another in the corner of the map. You have to drive up a small ramp and its on top of a ledge. HAHA! That's awesome I'm laughing away at my desk here.
