Pestneb Posted March 16, 2012 Posted March 16, 2012 I've attached a picture.... bit of a long shot but... can anyone work out where that place is? or even suggest which country even..
Pestneb Posted March 16, 2012 Author Posted March 16, 2012 (edited) found another picture.. http://nature.desktopnexus.com/wallpaper/21162/ no idea where it is still though I really want to go there this summer. Thanks for the link rez, not thats the same range though. Edited March 16, 2012 by Pestneb
Cube Posted March 16, 2012 Posted March 16, 2012 The closest I can find are Cariboo Mountains in British Columbia, Canada.
Pestneb Posted March 16, 2012 Author Posted March 16, 2012 that's the best I've seen so far... thanks. I still really want to find that view.. but the rock colouration looks right so.. maybe... Good job
MoogleViper Posted March 16, 2012 Posted March 16, 2012 I don't think it's a real place. If you search by image then it comes up with the suggestion of "Dual Monitor", so I'm guessing it was created as a desktop background. EDIT: This guy uses it on his blog http://blogs.saschina.org/henry02px2019/2012/03/14/diary-5/ Try contacting him and see if he knows otherwise.
Pestneb Posted March 16, 2012 Author Posted March 16, 2012 It may be a composite, but I have the original image at a much higher resolution.. I'm not claiming to be an expert at all, nor have I scrutinised it closely, but it looks real to me in full resolution. also the lonk i posted is of one of the peaks at a slightly different angle. I'm pretty sure it is real, at least in parts.
MoogleViper Posted March 16, 2012 Posted March 16, 2012 also the lonk i posted is of one of the peaks at a slightly different angle. I'm pretty sure it is real, at least in parts. But even that image (which is called Friendly Little Bear Mountains) only yields desktop background sites.
Emasher Posted March 16, 2012 Posted March 16, 2012 But even that image (which is called Friendly Little Bear Mountains) only yields desktop background sites. Its entirely possible the photographs were originally taken for that purpose, or at least, never made it online in any other form.

I know, but I'd imagine that either a view such as that would have more recognition, or that one of the sites that has it would have some info on it.
Shorty Posted March 16, 2012 Posted March 16, 2012 I'm pretty sure it's Grand Teton National Park, in Wyoming.

There are tons of mountains that look like that in Canada and the US. There's nothing particularly special about that one view.
Retro_Link Posted March 16, 2012 Posted March 16, 2012 (edited) I'm pretty sure it's Grand Teton National Park, in Wyoming.I think you're right! Searching for the above on RedBubble found an almost identicle photo... Lake Jackson and Grand Teton Mountain Range http://www.redbubble.com/people/alex4444/works/3862832-jackson-lake-and-grand-teton-range Edited March 16, 2012 by Retro_Link
Pestneb Posted March 17, 2012 Author Posted March 17, 2012 Shorty, I love you And Retro - excellent find, that photo definitely has the most distinctive mountain in the range, so we have found it. I'll be honest, I didn't think I was ever going to find out Shorty, how did you figure it out/know???
Dannyboy-the-Dane Posted March 17, 2012 Posted March 17, 2012 Out of curiosity, why did you want to find this particular mountain range?
Pestneb Posted March 17, 2012 Author Posted March 17, 2012 out of curiosity It's one of my desktop backgrounds, so I became curious as to where in the world it was.. and once the idea came into my head... http://demotywatory.pl/3737228/Wiele-pieknych-miejsc A friend of mine asked me if this on is real... I think it's photoshopped... but if it isn't I think it would probably be famous enough that someone would recognise it...

According to me quick research on "Search by Image" Google it is *drumroll* Beachy Head, East Sussex
Cube Posted March 19, 2012 Posted March 19, 2012 Probably the last place I would have expected it to be.
