killthenet Posted January 6, 2017 Posted January 6, 2017 Hoping it comes to the Switch so my brother can play it, but I'll get it on whatever platform it comes to.
nekunando Posted January 6, 2017 Posted January 6, 2017 Apparently Sega have started registering a couple Shenmue HD and Remastered domains..... The entire Shenmue trilogy on PS4 would be.. delicious
Fierce_LiNk Posted January 6, 2017 Posted January 6, 2017 I came home from work tired, saw this thread and automatically thought this had been confirmed. I let out a little inner "yessssss!" and now I feel a little empty inside.

Choze Posted January 6, 2017 Posted January 6, 2017 Hoping it comes to the Switch LOLOLOLOLOL. So many are going to be disappointed by the Switch.
killthenet Posted January 6, 2017 Posted January 6, 2017 LOLOLOLOLOL. So many are going to be disappointed by the Switch. Is that really worthy of such an over reaction? With a remaster Sega will be looking to get this on every platform they can in order to maximise profitability so it's not completely out of the realms of possibility to expect it on Switch alongside PS4 and Xbox One. Shenmue 1 & 2 remasters on the Switch would be a nice bonus for me but aren't factoring into my expectations for the console at all.

I am excited it for it too but as a system that is hopefully nothing like the PS4. Which is what it seems so far based on facts we know. How exactly does a Switch port factor into 'Profitability' for SEGA? Whilst yes some ports did ok on the WiiU I doubt many were doing well enough.
martinist Posted January 7, 2017 Posted January 7, 2017 Hopefully they add the time skip mechanic from Shenmue 2 into Shenmue 1. I had to wait an entire day for my ticket >_> Which i spent in the arcade....all day

It's just an assumption on my part as to how Sega think, just as a way of maximising their money making opportunities. I'm not expecting there to be a physical release on any platform so that would minimise the cost to Sega if they ported it to the Switch.

I doubt they and most 3rd parties will make their investments back. The sequel was raised via kick starter after all!
Hero-of-Time Posted May 17, 2017 Posted May 17, 2017 Gio is just teasing us now. I'd be very surprised if a Shenmue HD Collection doesn't show up during the PlayStation E3 conference.
KingDeDeDe1337 Posted May 17, 2017 Posted May 17, 2017 The fact that this is not being released on Steam is breaking my heart. I feel like someone stole my backpack and took all the money out, but left my valuable figurines.
Hero-of-Time Posted April 14, 2018 Posted April 14, 2018 It's finally happening!! Its out this year on PS4/One/PC. Hopefully this announcement will bring down the prices of the Dreamcast versions even further. 1
Happenstance Posted April 14, 2018 Author Posted April 14, 2018 I’ve held off properly replaying these for so long. Looks like I’ll finally be able to do it now. Wouldn’t be surprised if I end up buying both the PC and PS4 versions.
