Ramar Posted September 25, 2011 Posted September 25, 2011 What is this mafia? Someone care to explain what happens/rules etc.
ReZourceman Posted September 25, 2011 Author Posted September 25, 2011 What is this mafia? Someone care to explain what happens/rules etc. Its seriously actually awesome. So there is 20 players. 5 of them are bad guys (mafia) and can talk to each other outside of the thread. The other 15 are good guys,...or neutral, and do not know each other. There is a day phase and a night phase. In the day the players must discuss their findings and investigations and can vote to kill a player who they believe is evil - majority wins. At night the players use their powers - the mafia may kill a player, and the townies have a host of abilities that range from cancelling peoples powers for the night, or protecting them - saving them from murder or even investigating to see if someone is good or evil. It is the awesomeness. Here is an example. Click on the names of the days and nights to see a write up. http://n-europe.com/forum/showthread.php?t=31513
Nintendohnut Posted September 25, 2011 Posted September 25, 2011 This site is, like, the Bible for mafia games: Mafia Wiki A combination of reading a little about the game on that site and watching one take place/reading one through is a great way to see what it's all aboot. And yes, it is absolutely the nuts.
EEVILMURRAY Posted September 25, 2011 Posted September 25, 2011 What is this mafia? Someone care to explain what happens/rules etc. Just join one and ask random questions every now and then, that's how I got the gist of it.
jayseven Posted September 25, 2011 Posted September 25, 2011 Despite what people've said before about pokemafia games -- it really isn't the same as a regular mafia game if you don't know your pokemans. Jus' sayin'.
EEVILMURRAY Posted September 25, 2011 Posted September 25, 2011 Despite what people've said before about pokemafia games -- it really isn't the same as a regular mafia game if you don't know your pokemans. Jus' sayin'. Apply this logic for any themed mafia you are not familiar with. I'm just saying.
jayseven Posted September 25, 2011 Posted September 25, 2011 Yes, I agree - found dc/marvel games quite difficult sometimes - particularly when others seem to know the world referenced so they know who the blue and black person might be, and what their alignment might be. But comparatively, the pokemafias have always been more self-involved, with the 'types' of pokemon and so on. DIY games (where you get to suggest to the games master who you'd like to play as, for those who aren't familiar with the term) are alright, though.
Jonnas Posted September 25, 2011 Posted September 25, 2011 And then there are those with original characters/themes, like the ongoing Medieval Mafia, or my own Gentlemen's Mafia. Quite accessible. Me, when running a game, I try to make things accessible for those who aren't familiar with the source material (if there is one). I plan to take this into account in the Ace Attorney Mafia, which will start in the near future, in case anyone's interested [/shameless plug]
Dannyboy-the-Dane Posted September 25, 2011 Posted September 25, 2011 I plan to take this into account in the Ace Attorney Mafia, which will start in the near future, in case anyone's interested [/shameless plug] The one mafia I need to play in, even if I don't actually have the time. I shall make time.
Beast Posted September 25, 2011 Posted September 25, 2011 I plan to take this into account in the Ace Attorney Mafia, which will start in the near future, in case anyone's interested [/shameless plug] You know my name's down on that list!
MadDog Posted September 25, 2011 Posted September 25, 2011 You know my name's down on that list! And why is your name not on the Pokemafia list? :p
ReZourceman Posted September 26, 2011 Author Posted September 26, 2011 Burn to me or what! :p (Joking apart I am quite desperately in need of new players)
Beast Posted September 26, 2011 Posted September 26, 2011 Go on then, put my name down! Is this new or old Pokemon?
jayseven Posted September 26, 2011 Posted September 26, 2011 Read the first post, dazz :P ... Ok so it's not in the first post but I could've sworn I read it was all pokemon up to and including gold/silver (252 or something)? Sorry Dazz!
