Wesley Posted January 10, 2010 Posted January 10, 2010 Also, cool and awesome are the same, as well as cry and weep.
Ashley Posted January 10, 2010 Author Posted January 10, 2010 Don't blame me, blame the English language
Wesley Posted February 9, 2010 Posted February 9, 2010 Also, also. *tugs on admins trousers like a child* Can we have a shout out box? I've seen on some forums in the past that they have cool boxes at the bottom that registered members can post stuff... Like a chat room but... less chatty and roomy. Would be quite fun. Considering the sort of almost "status updates" that people shove in the HWYD thread.
chairdriver Posted February 9, 2010 Posted February 9, 2010 ^ I like that idea. I like how HWYD is like a thread for status updates, which often stimulate stunning conversations.
Wesley Posted February 9, 2010 Posted February 9, 2010 Yeah definitely, but I think that this could work well in creating new threads. Someone would mention something, which would make someone go, "Ah... there's a thought" and create a cool thread. That happens a little bit in the HWYD, but this would be kewl.
Supergrunch Posted February 9, 2010 Posted February 9, 2010 I think last time this was suggested, it didn't get implemented because people thought it would be hard to moderate.
Emasher Posted February 9, 2010 Posted February 9, 2010 Why not just embed the N-Europe Chat at the bottom of the forum page in a collapsable panel or something like that?
Ellmeister Posted February 9, 2010 Posted February 9, 2010 So all I'll ever see is Chair and Paj going off into their crazy little quotatious (yes, I do realise that was made up) world posting things that either my little brain cannot comprehend, or its about music which I'm too uneducated/close minded to appreciate. YEAH LETS DO THAT IDEA! P.S In all seriousness I quite like the idea, its just what I imagine will happen. Rarely, but nonetheless it shall happen.
Ashley Posted February 9, 2010 Author Posted February 9, 2010 Rarely? Its happened twice in the last two days.
Ellmeister Posted February 9, 2010 Posted February 9, 2010 That's almost as much as Chair has said Stunning, jesus, its never ending!
ReZourceman Posted February 10, 2010 Posted February 10, 2010 That's almost as much as Chair has said Stunning, jesus, its never ending!
Wesley Posted February 10, 2010 Posted February 10, 2010 Oh yeah, and we'd have to put up with ReZ's jokes. But seriously, Ashleeeeeeeeeeey what do'ya think?
Shorty Posted February 11, 2010 Posted February 11, 2010 We've discussed a shout box to death, you can just go back through this thread and find the reasons we were against it. Several times. We have a chat room, if people could be bothered to go there it could be huge. Back in the day it was awesome, it could be again.
Aimless Posted February 14, 2010 Posted February 14, 2010 Would it be possible to integrate an alternative spoiler tag? The current one is fine if you're looking to hide an essay, but sometimes you just want to mask a couple of words or a single sentence and for that it can be rather messy. The alternative method I'd suggest is a simple highlight to read one. Something a bit like this quick Google result, albeit possibly without the hover case.

Eddage Posted February 14, 2010 Posted February 14, 2010 Font colour F6F6F6 comes out as this. But then that's only useful if you're using the default scheme... Edit: And if someone doesn't quote you!
Shorty Posted February 14, 2010 Posted February 14, 2010 That would be very easy to integrate, it's just using the hover psuedo class. I will do it tomorrow although i might not bother with a button for it... unless you want to make one, aimless.
Aimless Posted February 14, 2010 Posted February 14, 2010 I don't mind making one, although it would probably help to know which tag it would use. Obviously is already taken, so I guess it would have to use [mask] or something along those lines.
Charlie Posted February 14, 2010 Posted February 14, 2010 But then that's only useful if you're using the default scheme... Edit: And if someone doesn't quote you! Fair enough but if you quote someone they're going to see what's in the spoiler tag anyway.
MoogleViper Posted February 14, 2010 Posted February 14, 2010 Fair enough but if you quote someone they're going to see what's in the spoiler tag anyway. Yeah but other people reading the quote won't.
Charlie Posted February 15, 2010 Posted February 15, 2010 Yeah but other people reading the quote won't. Touché. : peace:

Ashley Posted February 21, 2010 Author Posted February 21, 2010 Font colour F6F6F6 comes out as this. F5F5F5 is the default colour see! or not...
Shorty Posted February 21, 2010 Posted February 21, 2010 The chat room is just irc right? What's the server name? Quakenet, the room is #n-europe Well, it was, but it's empty now. We got it going for a little while, got a bot in and a few idlers but then it died again.
Emasher Posted February 21, 2010 Posted February 21, 2010 Which is again, why it would be better in a hidden panel on the forum page or something like that. It just seems too out of the way as it is. Saying that, I might start keeping it open in an irc client now if others start using it as well.
