Happenstance Posted April 7, 2011 Posted April 7, 2011 If Marty McFly and Dr. Emmett Brown ever get the urge for another round of time-traveling, we know one direction they'd better not aim that DeLorean of theirs—China! Because the country's General Bureau of Radio, Film and Television has decided all that wibbly-wobbly, timey-wimey stuff "should by no means be encouraged anymore." Time-travel movies and TV have become quite popular in China, with much of the homegrown variety dealing with contemporary Chinese going back thousands of years to interact with real historical figures. But it looks like there won't be much more of that in the ... well ... future. Word out of the Television Director Committee is that: "The time-travel drama is becoming a hot theme for TV and films. But its content and the exaggerated performance style are questionable. Many stories are totally made-up and are made to strain for an effect of novelty. The producers and writers are treating the serious history in a frivolous way, which should by no means be encouraged anymore." And as you know, if there's anything we hate, it's those "made-up" time-travel stories as opposed to the completely factual ones. We're unable to tell whether this will prevent movies and TV shows which have already been made from appearing in theaters or on television, or if it only affects the production of new Chinese product. But whichever the case, we certainly hope that Schwarzenegger will set aside that Governator project of his for awhile and head back in time to straighten things out. http://blastr.com/2011/04/china-bans-time-travel-mo.php?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter ....those crazy Chinese
EEVILMURRAY Posted April 7, 2011 Posted April 7, 2011 Would it be ok if the "serious" history being messed around with was fictional also?
Shorty Posted April 7, 2011 Posted April 7, 2011 Are they suggesting that Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure's portrayal of Napoleon as a bit of a tosser was somehow inaccurate?
flameboy Posted April 7, 2011 Posted April 7, 2011 Are they suggesting that Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure's portrayal of Napoleon as a bit of a tosser was somehow inaccurate? yes it was inaccurate he wasn't a bit of a tosser he was a full blown complete and utter tosser.

Jimbob Posted April 8, 2011 Posted April 8, 2011 But seriously this is the first I've heard of a Bill & Ted 3... damn they've left it long haven't they Bill & Ted would be in their 40's or something now? More importantly, would the both of them be able to fit in the phone box? The wierd thing is, China is banning time travelling themed tv/movies. But, they still continue with the freaky life-like robot projects.

Happenstance Posted April 8, 2011 Author Posted April 8, 2011 Keanu Reeves reveals 'Bill & Ted 3' details Keanu Reeves has revealed plot details for the next Bill & Ted sequel. The actor played time-travelling metalhead slacker 'Ted' Theodore Logan in the first two films, with Alex Winter co-starring as his equally challenged friend Bill S.Preston, Esquire. Speaking to MTV, Reeves said: "When we last got together, part of it was that Bill and Ted were supposed to have written the song that saved the world, and it hasn't happened. "So they've now become kind of possessed by trying to do that. Then there's an element of time and they have to go back." However, he did not mention what age the characters would be in the update to 1991's Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey. The first sequel to Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure was set in the future, with time-travelling cybernetic versions of the buddies going back to kill the originals before they get to take part in a world-saving 'Battle of the Bands' contest with their metal duo Wyld Stallyns. In January, a representative for Reeves denied that the star will be appearing in any more Matrix films. http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/movies/news/a312829/keanu-reeves-reveals-bill--ted-3-details.html
