They've re-earnt their ! with their newest album. Panic At The Disco and Panic! At The Disco are two completely different bands in my mind (and on my iTunes :D).

£100 does seem like a lot, but if you factor in Muse tickets normally being £45+, and Elbow being £35ish you've almost paid for the ticket with those two bands alone. P!ATD, FT, FF and everyone else more than makes up for it, and at least you get to experience the festival vibe.

Not heard of DFA1979, what're they like?

I LOVE YOU

Had no idea they had a third one on the way, never mind that it's out. Getting it as we speak.

And yes this is a good point. Probably does justify it. Have a house in Leeds so might go these for the day, always been a Reading boy so it would be a change. Although they're probably almost identical.

Death From Above are a music duo, think it's just bass and drums, bit heavy, but it works rather well. They're so good CSS named a song after them..

Also they have an excellent album cover

When I went to Reading in 1995 & 1996 the whole weekend cost £60/£65.

It was all prior to internetmassiveselloutticket stuff too, so you just bought tickets from your local HMV.

DFA1979 last played in 2004. I kinda missed them, was stood next to the tent waiting for people (was my first fest so wasn't in to going wandering off on my lonesome). What I heard was awesome, more raw than the album, but I didn't see owt.

I had no idea they reformed. Seriously tempted to head back to Leeds this year, I just hope it ain't as bad as Reading was last time I went (no atmosphere, just masses of kids pratting around).

I've never been to Reading / Leeds, but from what I hear from people that do go... isn't that pretty much all that happens at the festival?

I've personally never had any problems at Download or Ozzfest, but on the Download messageboards, last year in a particular camp it was apparently quite bad.

There was a group of Scottish lads going around just starting fights in the campsite, they called their camp... 'Camp Rape' and they went around other campsites kicking tents down if they had different country flags on them or around them. One bloke said he was walking back to the arena, from this camp site, and saw these lads starting on a guy who was only with his girlfriend because he was wearing an England football shirt. Ended up getting argy bargy with him, but fortunately some decent people in surrounding tents / nearby stopped it before it could get any worse.

Given the time that last year at Download the World cup was on, there was as you can imagine alot of international flags flying proud in the campsites.

I had an England one on my tent, and a few tents down was some guys with a Welsh flag. There was some friendly banter between both our camps and we ended up drinking with them one night, and it was totally fine. That's what festivals should be about, not fearing that either while your asleep in your tent, or out in the arena that some fucks are going to kick your tent down and rummage through your belongings you've left behind.

Basically... Festivals are awesome, the camping is awesome, but you need to have decent weather, and decent camping neighbours around you. Fortunately every festival I've been to that's been the case. (well excluding Nass Festival, but that was pretty much a drug festival anyways)

To be honest none of the big festival line-ups seem to be getting me excited this year. DFA1979 I'd love to see live, but with the rest of Reading there's not a whole lot there I'd be desperate to see. Glastonbury has Coldplay, Beyonce and U2 :hmm:; there is so much on elsewhere so that can be avoided, but for the price of the ticket I'm unconvinced this year. To be honest the most interesting I've seen is Latitude so I might give that a go especially after hearing Deerhunter will be there.

Yeah I'm going, third time for me. When I'm not watching bands, I'll be spending most of my time sitting in a chair drinking crap canned beer.

Someone heard my call! Sonisphere day ticket ballot is go. Signed myself up, hopefully I can get a Sunday ticket. Only £80 which will be great if I can get one.

I don't understand why Sonisphere have a ballot to get day tickets, where as Download festival you can just buy general day tickets?

that said i've registered for Sunday for Sonisphere anyways,

if your successful does that only make you eligible for one ticket? or can you buy 2 day tickets?

Successful applicants will be informed which day(s) they can purchase tickets for via email on May 25th. Each customer may purchase up to four tickets for their allocated day. Tickets will be £80/day plus booking fee.

Seems a bit excessive letting successful applicants buy 4 tickets, 2 would be sufficient.

You forget about families. You'd be surprised how many go!

I'm incredibly gutted I can't make it to download, I've been wanting to see Linkin park and SOAD for years, but there isn't much chance I can even go for the day now..gutted. :(

cant really goto a festival for few years at least as my boy is only 4 months old cant take him yet. Will be awesome to one day take him to download thou when hes a bit older.

The download lineup this year is better then last years....its not brilliant by any means thou. Would have loved to see the darkness again (not seen them since 2003)

Got my sunday ticket for Sonisphere today. £92 including all the stupid booking fees. Can't wait to see Slipknot again, also looking forward to Four Year Strong and Anberlin.

Just had a look at the line-up... holy shit Alestorm are playing! Love me some Pirate Metal. Sunday should be a good day, very much looking forward to seeing Motorhead, Mastodon, Opeth etc. Putting Bill Bailey between Slipknot and Limp Bizkit should prove interesting.

I had a quality day at Sonisphere yesterday. Well happy I got that day ticket in the end.

Bands I saw:

Black Tide

InMe

Parkway Drive

Anberlin

Alestorm

Four Year Strong (left early to get a good spot for Slipknot)

Slipknot

Slipknot were fucking quality, loved the set. Played my favourite song and a few other songs I've not seen them play live before.

Also I think I walked passed The Bard, except I was too much of a pussy to say hello.

Yeah the last day was fucking awesome, definitely my favourite by far.

You should have come and said hello man, us lot had a great time. If it was a dude in hiking boots, blue jeans and a gray vest, then yeah that was me
