Fire and Ice. Ouch!

Yeah smell looks a bit mental with that haircut and looks a bit fatter. She cracks me up though. Woody's hair is a bit mad too. whilst we are on the subject of hair I prefered Lol with dark hair. Great episode all in all. Can't get enough of it. Wish it was like a 12 parter.

I've forgotten what happened in some parts of the movie, going to have to read up on that.

Does anyone else think that the girl who likes Sean (is it Sean?) looks like a mannequin? Just me? :(

I can kinda see where you're coming from with that.

I also agree something's up with Smell's look, but I dunno what it is. She doesn't seem as cute as she was in the film.

Anyhow, this was a top episode, things are starting to get going and it's brilliant watching. Apparently the whole mini-series is all about/mainly focused on Lol, and Meadows would be up for making more of them afterwards, possibly focusing on the other characters, apparently. Kinda like Platty, I'd eat this shit up like crack if there was more of it going, just can't get enough! Well looking forward to next episode!

I thought last night's epsidoe was great!

I can't believe so much is left until the last episode though... is it another hour one?

Yeah, I think it is.

Combo is back, it shall be interesting to see what happened to him and how the others are going to react about his return (particularly Banjo's and Milky's)

I didn't think this episode was great. It felt clumsy.

Likewise. The whole thing pretty much dragged. They could've easily fit it into a movie length production. It was obvious who was going to die, but I thought:

Combo would kill Lol's dad, even though he took the blame for it. Quite out of character, but was nice.

I'm sorry but am I the only one who felt totally let down by the ending? What happened to them all? We only knew what happened to Lol and Combo but what about the rest of the gang!

I hope Shane Meadows will write a new series considering he's left this wide open. Other than that problem, I thought the episode was awesome with fantastic performances, especially from Lol.

No, you aren't. Look up.

Am I the only one who gets amazingly annoyed when people use 'Am I the only one...?' when it is quite obvious that they aren't the only one? /Rant against the internet

I am inclined to agree a bit, it's always hard to do a last sort of tie-up thing(well, not always, but I guess often as alot of things sometimes have crap endings), but for me it needed an ending to make it all complete and so I'll take it.

He didn't exactly polish off This is England with everyone's fate either though, I think he likes leaving things a bit abruptly like that. It looked like the gang carried on carrying on, Lol and Woody were together, Kell was struggling to cope with the loss of her father, and I dunno what else. The end was quite emotive and I guess I didn't take in alot as I tried to comprehend what was going on. Apparently he said ever since This is England he was open to doing more work on the characters, and if this goes down well then he may consider more mini-series, probably each one focusing on a different character and some significant issue, I think.

I personally thought the last two episodes were a triumph. The directors of the first 2 eps and the last 2 eps were different, which may explain why perhaps some of you didn't like the closing of the series. However, the drama was good, there were some pretty funny moments, and I actually don't mind that it's been left with loose ends.

I disagree totally with the movie idea. For me the plot wouldn't have had enough downtime, it worked well as an hourly showing for a few weeks.

The first parrot scene in ep 3 was very funny, one of the greater highlights.

No.

Considering the movie brought me to tears last night, I was left feeling utterly underwhelmed by the mini-series. The retcon of milky's death (sorry, but the movie's ending only had the power that it did because it was witnessed with the assumption that 101 punches to the head killed a man) annoyed me. I went into this show knowing some vague 'spoilers' - "some psycho from the film comes back at the end of episode 3 after all this CRAZY UNFORGETTABLE SHIT occurs and you just go AAAAH NOOOOO" and "redemption, tbf"... But to me the show could've easily been an unrelated entity to the movie.

Woody was watered down and stripped of his leadership qualities. Kombo's psychotic nature was reverted into some bullshit religious claptrap. Milky... WAS ALIVE. Lol suddenly had daddy issues and, while hinted at in the movie, were massively overplayed in the series. Essentially the whole 4-ep drama revolved around two characters that weren't seen, mentioned or smelt in the movie and as such my final diagnosis is this; BULLSHIT.

I laughed harder than I have for a long time, but I immediately felt guilty knowing that the movie left me so sad and that the show had forgotten so much.

Yeah. Essentially, I'm really annoyed. From a film so wittingly unsentimental we have a tv series that has set out to provide as conclusive and redeeming an episode as this is only a mark on the british tv scene. The film was rightfully touted as a great piece of cinema, yet unfortunately was used as a posterboy for the series that really offers nothing more than an x-rated hollyoaks episode, totally going against the grain of the themes set by the movie.

I will agree that it had good actors and good gaffers, but the music was recycled and the direction wrong for TV, and almost intrusive in its baseness.

Yeah. The more I think about it, the more I'm pissed off. Not. Cool.

You shouldn't have watched it right after the film, nor expected so much from it. You only ruined it for yourself, and now can't appreciate it for what it is as its own entity, only comparatively to something better than it never could or would have lived up to. Also, you're a willy.

I honestly never got the impression that Milky died in the film... just beaten badly and left at the hospital.

I also thought the TV series was fantastic...

I don't want to know these exact specific endings, I like loose.

To be honest, it doesn't actually feel that loose after a while, because these characters felt so alive that they've continued to grow after the series has ended.

Yeah I never got the impression Milky died in the film either. Doesn't Shauns mum say "Milky is going to be ok" at the end? So although I was thinking damn this is horrible he has got to be dead, shauns mums words gave me that sigh of relief in thinking he was ok.

I therefore fully expected to see him in the tv series.
