Zechs Merquise Posted November 2, 2010 Posted November 2, 2010 (edited) Bots have been debunked btw Indeed, also there is word that you can't have private matches either. This basically means you can play online with your friends, but you can't set up a room and choose the map or game mode as you can with COD. Also, word is that you can't use oddjob online! EDIT: Apparently with online matches, you just jump into a game and you are just one of a group of soldiers like in COD. You can choose who you play as in the offline splitscreen and Oddjob is amongst them. IGN Review: 9.0 http://uk.wii.ign.com/articles/113/1131501p1.html Edited November 2, 2010 by Zechs Merquise
Kav Posted November 2, 2010 Posted November 2, 2010 Having read the IGN review I'm looking forward to this moreso than I thought I would be! Still, Black Ops is what I'm looking forward to more. I will be getting both though!
Pookiablo Posted November 2, 2010 Posted November 2, 2010 Enjoyed the IGN review although it could have done with getting into a bit more detail here and there. I'm pumped for this game though - splitscreen looks awesome and the production values seem incredibly high!
MindFreak Posted November 2, 2010 Posted November 2, 2010 http://gameinformer.com/games/goldeneye_007/b/wii/archive/2010/11/02/goldeneye-007-review.aspx Another review, 6.5. The reviewer sounds very let-down, and there seems to be conflicting points of views: IGN: Graphics are top-notch, Wii-mote settings the best GI: Graphics are blurry and ugly, dual-stick play the best To name a few. I found the IGN-review the most convincing.
Captain Falcon Posted November 2, 2010 Posted November 2, 2010 playing with the Wii remote and nunchuk feels tighter than The Conduit’s touchy controls I'm sorry but if they found the Conduit's controls "touchy" it's their own stupid fault for not making any use of the unheard of level of customization in control setup that the game showed on a console. And then to say that the online mode is "worthwhile" and "delivers the best FPS multiplayer experience available on the Wii" but go on to suggest that the game has low replay value doesn't quite add up. So no, I can't say I was over convinced by GI review either. I'm not even hyped for this game, so I have no reason to want to defend it, but that seemed like a poor review to me.
Burny Posted November 2, 2010 Posted November 2, 2010 Mh, Game Informer. The same people who gave Other M an 6.25 partly because they were seemingly unable to control the game?
Captain Falcon Posted November 2, 2010 Posted November 2, 2010 (edited) Mh, Game Informer. The same people who gave Other M an 6.25 partly because they were seemingly unable to control the game? The same Game Informer who marked down Paper Mario 2 because they thought someone else might not like it regardless of whether they did or not. Here's another, more favourable, review. Zechs Merquise Posted November 2, 2010 Posted November 2, 2010 (edited) Game Informer are utter dickheads, they gave COD:MWR 6.5 as well and that was AWESOME! To quote Game Informer: Second, using the Wii Remote as a pointer for first-person shooters sucks. This is from the MWR review, which they spent half of the review bashing it for not looking as good as the HD versions. Edited November 2, 2010 by Zechs Merquise
Kav Posted November 2, 2010 Posted November 2, 2010 To be fair, it's easy to see that Game Informer are retards... if they can't point with a wiimote, that says it all!
Mike Posted November 2, 2010 Posted November 2, 2010 I had a quick go on this at the London Expo last weekend, and was totally awful! I never had it on the N64, but played on a friend's copy every so often, and always lost at it. To be honest, I think I just suck at first person shooters and dual analogue controls. Anyway, the result of the multiplayer match at the weekend was as follows: Stranger at the Expo: 10 kills My wife: 4 kills Me: 0 kills

Burny Posted November 2, 2010 Posted November 2, 2010 Do you get negative kills when you run into your own grenade?
Zechs Merquise Posted November 2, 2010 Posted November 2, 2010 So far six reviews now in: IGN 9.0 http://wii.ign.com/articles/113/1131501p1.html Gaming Nexus 9.0 http://www.gamingnexus.com/Article/Goldeneye-007/Item2840.aspx Game Vortex 9.0 http://www.gamevortex.com/gamevortex/soft_rev.php/5225/goldeneye-007-wii.html 1UP 8.5 http://www.1up.com/do/reviewPage?cId=3182186 Nintendo World Report 8.5 http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/review/24391 Game Informer 6.5 http://gameinformer.com/games/goldeneye_007/b/wii/archive/2010/11/02/goldeneye-007-review.aspx As you can see, the majority so far are good, and if anyone cares to read the Game Informer review it is obvious that it is clearly biased against the Wii.
Retro_Link Posted November 2, 2010 Posted November 2, 2010 There's a bunch of new gameplay videos over on Gametrailers, though I'm not gonna watch them myself.
Arnieboy Posted November 3, 2010 Posted November 3, 2010 Play.com sent me an email saying it's on it's way! Really looking forward to this, will have to watch the ign review now it's up. Will have a nice new shiny classic controller pro to play it on.
Oxigen_Waste Posted November 3, 2010 Posted November 3, 2010 I'll be getting this over Black Ops. I'd rather have Black Ops on 360, I loved MWR, but always felt that while it was a great port, it was kind of obvious due to the large amount of different inputs/actions available on the original, it forced you to map some functions on awkward "buttons" (those twists+button things) on the wiimote... where GoldenEye was specifically tailor made to fit the wii's virtues and shortcomings. I'm pretty much sold on this one.
RedShell Posted November 3, 2010 Posted November 3, 2010 There's a bunch of new gameplay videos over on Gametrailers, though I'm not gonna watch them myself.I only watched the multiplayer one, was tempted to check out the others but managed to resist. Anyway, my copy is now on its way from GAME!
Retro_Link Posted November 3, 2010 Posted November 3, 2010 Shopto have a t-shirt 'free' with the game, though their price is £2 more than most others... And just seen these on Play...
