Jimbob Posted June 1, 2010 Posted June 1, 2010 Gotta admit Munch, wish i'd thought of these as well. All classics.
Dan_Dare Posted June 2, 2010 Posted June 2, 2010 1972- Tumbling Dice by The Rolling Stones. if it's not this, or another track from Exile on Mainstreet, you're basically doing it wrong.
chairdriver Posted June 3, 2010 Posted June 3, 2010 1975 - Wish You Were Here - Pink Floyd Yes. ---- 2009 - Stillness Is The Move - Solange Knowles (Cover of Dirty Projectors)
chairdriver Posted June 3, 2010 Posted June 3, 2010 Erm, 1996 - Spice Girls - Wannabe, hello!!! At the same time, Who Do You Think You Are is far more essential. Actually has dancing potential, and feels less gimmick-ridden. Mel C's voice is actually stunning.

Dan_Dare Posted June 3, 2010 Posted June 3, 2010 Have we had 1986 yet? Bigmouth Strikes Again by The Smiths every time.
Ganepark32 Posted June 3, 2010 Posted June 3, 2010 ^ I said Livin' On A Prayer for '86. Very overplayed yes and probably has begun to grate with just about everyone but I'd probably say that was the highlight of that year. But The Smiths is also a good choice.

The Bard Posted June 3, 2010 Posted June 3, 2010 1978; Kraftwerk - The Robots. 1992; Nirvana - Smells Like Teen Spirit Too obvious? =p
Dan_Dare Posted June 3, 2010 Posted June 3, 2010 Kraftwerk is obvious but it's also essential. No Kraftwerk, no electronica.

chairdriver Posted June 3, 2010 Posted June 3, 2010 Ha ha ha she can't even sing Objectively, she has brilliant range and vocal strength. Plus she has a really unique timbre to her voice (you can always tell which are her parts, where Posh's/Geri's/Emma's all meld into one), which subjectively is really striking. So yeah, you pretty much fail.

Some years I was kinda stuck and just went with the best I could find and others I've been spoilt for choice and went with one song per artist to sort that. Edited June 3, 2010 by McPhee

Can't help but notice you omitted Sir Chesney Hawkes. Fail list is fail.
S.C.G Posted June 3, 2010 Posted June 3, 2010 It's ok... list isn't bad in places but could be better, '06 for example... couldn't you find anything better than 'Gnarls Barkley'? I never understood why that song was so 'popular' personally, but anyway, no ones gonna agree to the list 100% but then it isn't about what we all think as it's for your Dads 50th and I'm sure he'll appreciate the effort that you went to in order to compile this playlist.
MoogleViper Posted June 3, 2010 Posted June 3, 2010 Please change 1997 to Bitter Sweet Symphony - The Verve.
Munch Posted June 3, 2010 Posted June 3, 2010 Florence and the Machine, if it's the right year you gotta change that to 'dog days are over' And for 1990 try Deee-lite - Groove is in the Heart... Best.Song.Ever. Excellent list though.
chairdriver Posted June 3, 2010 Posted June 3, 2010 Ray Of Light is so yes. There feels like there's so many more pressing things released in 2010 than that though.
