Dyson
Woo, yay, etc. The only standard band music game series worth giving a damn about returns for Rock Band 3 later this year. Promising to redefine the music genre once more, I wonder what we can expect to see this time around? Here's hoping it won't be a disappointment. Details are on the low right now, the game only being announced in some sort of internal meeting and following up with twitter/facebook announcements. What we do know is that there was a comment made a while ago by a Harmonix staff member claiming the next instalment of RB would get us learning how to play instruments? Then again, they said the same thing about the Drum Trainer, and I only touched that for achievements.. Thoughts/opinions? Day one for me. I love me some Rock Band. Shorty
I would rather have a version that changed the gameplay a fair amount, added some new modes and interesting twists, lots of new music - but let me keep using my old instruments so I don't have to spend £100+ on it. Dyson
Got a link to these new instruments in action? I really wanna check out the new stringed one
Dog-amoto
Looks pretty interesting. As an intermediate guitarist I've never been bothered about Guitar Hero or Rock Band before, as it's nothing like the real thing, but I suppose this could be fun and you could learn some new tricks playing on Expert We will see though Video demonstration - looks like they have two versions, one with strings and one with buttons
tapedeck
Looks brilliant. As a guitarist and keyboard player I'm finally looking forward to bringing the pr0 to this game. Will be good to rock out with non-musical mates too.
McPhee
Video demonstration - looks like they have two versions, one with strings and one with buttons Not quite. They have one with buttons and this thing; It lets you hook up your own MIDI instruments to your console for use in Rock Band 3. Guitar, Bass, Keyboard and Drums all work I'm wondering how much it'll cost, I'd rather buy a cheap real guitar than the RB3 Pro guitar if they cost about the same (with adaptor). http://gizmodo.com/5565453/hands-on-with-rock-band-3s-pro-guitar-and-keyboard-keytar
Ganepark32
That box thing is only for MIDI keyboards or drums. The string guitar is completely wireless and works exactly like the standard RB/GH guitars that come alongside each game.

Ramar
I don't know whether I'm happy or not about these controller and game changes. Awesome sauce that they're trying to improve the games and what not, but I'm a little concerned I'm going to be dead crap at pro, it'll cost loads and I might as well play my real guitar (which I can't because I suck ^^). I'm assuming all my DLC work with this new one, right?
Dyson
Giz didn't lie exactly; you can indeed hook up MIDI instruments to RB3 with the MIDI box. They are also releasing 2 guitars, one which is fully stringed and another which has 102 buttons and strings to pluck.
Dyson
So awesome: Play Rock Band 3's Pro Guitar mode on screen, and with an amp at the same time: http://www.engadget.com/2010/06/16/rock-band-3-squier-stratocaster-plays-both-real-and-virtual-guit/ God I want this so much! Dyson
Well, the 102 button guitar Mad Catz is making has an RRP of $150. I'm thinking that seeing as the Squier is a real guitar on top of a game controller, and has fancy technology in the neck - we're probably looking at, what...$299? >_<

Charlie
Ah well there goes my interest in that, hello mr plastic 5 button guitar. Maybe you should wait until the official pricing is announced before you cool interest in a game? I think it looks very interesting, it's good that they're doing away with the ancient system of 5 button guitars in lieu of something which could potentially make the game better. It'll be a whole new learning curve for people who have been playing the game since the beginning but I think it will be worthwhile because it'll be totally different and much more like playing the actual guitar. McPhee
I'd be happy with £199, £249 is pushing it and £299 would be a flat 'no'. Still want to see what people make of it as a way to learn to play a real guitar first, once bitten twice shy after the drums thing.

Tyson
Fark sake, I only just bought a real guitar last week, now everyone's going to learning it and probably doing it better than me. As if most people already can't. Sadface

Diageo
I just discovered what the guitars are like from this video. Amazing stuff. I knew it would come to this one day.
mcj metroid
I think the keyboard will prove to be a problem. Not that it will be hard to use or anything but rather the" highway of notes" on pro mode. Your instructions on the screen look kinda awkward to say the least. I also wish the keyboard was bigger but I know that was never going to happen, for size reasons. I do find it hilarious the guitar has a midi output though
