If you're on this site, I reckon you own a Wii. And I believe "Thou shalt buy RE4" is one of the 10 Commandments Moses brought down from Mount Sinai. Obey.

Wrong. I joined the site back when GameCube was being redied and we were called Cube-Europe. I only post in Other Consoles because I own a PS3..

Is that supposed to be an excuse? You know RE4 is a Gamecube game, right? :heh: The Commandment still stands.

Btw, I joined when this was Cube-Europe too.

I thought this wasn't a resi 1 remake but an expansion of the story from the flash back in Resi 5? When they went back to try and snag a beefed up Wesker, before he threw Jill out the window?

It isn't the remake but the Spencer Estate in RE5 flashbacks that has same design of the Spencer mansion in RE/Make.

I said in my other post that Capcom have done this three times now.

Re/Make - Spencer mansion

CV/X - The mansion main foyer is the same, as well as one other room connected to it. It even features one of the puzzles that was in the Spencer mansion.

RE5 - The Spencer Estate that look like battle has taken place in the rooms.

RE5:AE - DLC

A couple of weeks ago, we told you about new Resident Evil 5 content coming as a new Japanese version of the game called RE5 Alternative Edition. We asked you guys to tell us how you wanted to get your mitts on the content and gave you the option to vote for either digital download or a new boxed product. We let the poll run for a couple weeks and then snagged a bunch of your comments from the original blog posting as well as from threads in the forums and presented it all to the RE5 team in Osaka. As of this morning, we had close to 1500 people vote for DLC and close to 900 vote for a new physical product. In addition, we had over 300 comments on the blog posting, which is amazing to all of us here at Capcom.

And here’s an example of Capcom Unity in action: based on your feedback, in North American, European and Australia territories, Capcom will be making the new RE5 content for both Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 available as downloadable content. You will not be asked to purchase a new copy of the game just to get at the new stuff, just make sure to hold on to your RE5 disc and you’ll be ready to roll in Spring 2010 when we make available new Resident Evil adventures (and some other things we haven’t told you about yet) for you. Keep that in mind when thinking about selling RE5 back or handing it off to a friend ;)

I'll be honest: we had a strong feeling going in that most folks were going to be ticking the box for digital delivery. Seeing as how we were asking you ONLINE to tell us if you would like to nab new game content via the internet, we thought we may have been skewing the results a bit. What surprised us, however, was just how many of you ended up voting for a new physical package. We’re still trying to wrap our heads around this strongly stated position from a vocal range of the community, but we've definitely heard you guys loud and clear as well.

Thanks to all of you as part of Team Unity in helping us reach this decision!

I don't see why Capcom couldn't have released both DLC and a physical product. I don't have internet access where I live so it's a problem for me. They will lose sales because of this.

Well if they don't think they'd sell enough physical products what incentive is there to release it? They'd end up with a ton of unsold discs and end up selling them at a discount price.

So how comes they are selling this as a physical disk in Japan only?

I know that Capcom have formed this opinon as a result of an ONLINE poll but it's doesn't speak to gamers who don't have easy online access like myself. It's also funny that the European poll voted in favour of a physical disk but we get DLC regardless.

Why not have a limited release disk version and the regular DLC. This way you wouldn't have as you say tonnes of unsold disk/cs..

UK gets Resident Evil 5 'Gold Edition'

The BBFC ratings board has recently put up an entry for Resident Evil 5 'Gold Edition' which reveals the following content :

RESIDENT EVIL 5 (GOLD EDITION)

LOST IN NIGHTMARES (NEW LEVEL)

DESPERATE ESCAPE (NEW LEVEL)

THE MERCENARIES REUNION (NEW GAME MODE)

ADDITIONAL COSTUME PACK 1

ADDITIONAL COSTUME PACK 2

ADDITIONAL FIGURINE PACK

Resident Evil 5 DLC Detailed

Capcom revealed last week that Japan's Resident Evil 5 Alternative Edition would be coming our way in the form of download content for both the Xbox 360 and PS3. Today, Weekly Famitsu came through with specifics on the content and pricing.

At least four content packs will be offered for the game:

The Lost in Nightmares Episode (500 yen/400 MSP): This includes the previously announced new episode that pairs RE5 hero Chris Redfield with RE series veteran Jill Valentine. Famitsu confirms a one hour gameplay time for the episode as well as a frightening new enemy who haunts the halls underneath Spencer's mansion. Also included in the pack are EX figures and two characters for use in Mercenaries mode.

Costume Pack 1 (200 yen/160 MSP): This includes two costumes, EX figures, and two characters for Mercenaries.

Unannounced New Episode (500 yen/400 MSP): That's right, Lost in Nightmares isn't the only additional episode! Sadly, Famitsu doesn't have any details on this additional scenario. As with the Lost in Nightmares DLC, it will include EX figures and two characters for Mercenaries mode.

Costume Pack 2 (200 yen/160 MSP): Like Costume Pack 1, this includes two costumes, EX figures, and two Mercenaries characters.

The "Mercenaries" mode listed above is actually referred to in the magazine as "Mercenaries Reunion." According to Famitsu, the rules for Mercenaries Reunion are unchanged from Mercenaries. The Alternative Edition disc release will give immediate access to characters who weren't available for use in the original Mercenaries. Aside from that, we're unsure of the differences.

As for those new costumes, Famitsu provides a look at just two. Sheva will be getting a new red hooded "Folklore" outfit. Chris will go wild with a new Warrior outfit that has him sporting shades but missing a shirt.

Most of the Famitsu article is about the Alternative Edition disc version, which has yet to be announced for release outside of Japan. The disc will include all the above content along with the main Resident Evil 5 game and all the previously released RE5 DLC. In Japan, the disc version will arrive on February 18, priced at 4,990 yen -- about 3,000 yen less than a typical high profile Xbox 360 and PS3 third party title.

The downloadable content will hit some time in March. Capcom hasn't shared international details yet, but we're going to presume a similar time frame for the content outside of Japan.

Oddly missing from Famitsu's coverage of Alternative Edition was mention of PS3 motion controller support, a feature which was promoted heavily when the game was first announced at the Tokyo Game Show. We were hoping that a February 18 release for Alternative would imply a similar time frame for Sony's wand controller. As with the RE5 DLC's international release, we're going to have to wait for an official comment on the matter.

The pictures look fantastic but ANOTHER re-make? Seriously Capcom? Ugh! I've got the PS1 version, the GameBoy version, the Gamecube version and the DS version...how many more times would you like to remake the thing?! I want a new Resi!!! Preferably one where you play as Wesker!

I didnt know RE5 had Gamecube,DS,Gameboy version or you have mistaken the Spencer Estate in RE5 as the Spencer Mansion from RE1. You can play as Wesker in RE5 and in RE:UC.

The Spencer mansion has it designs copied into other places in the series:

Re/Make - Spencer mansion

CV/X - The Ashford mansion main foyer is the same, as well as one other room connected to it. It even features one of the puzzles that was in the Spencer mansion.

RE5 AE/GE/DLC - The Spencer Estate is a near full copy of the Spencer mansion.

Just reading some of these comments, people are far to harsh on this game.

They aren't really, capcom need to stop serving up exactly the same thing constantly with a new lick of paint. Although people shouldn't be surprised this is the company that has released like a thousand Megaman games etc...
