LegoMan1031 Posted September 17, 2010 Posted September 17, 2010 Bought Reach today... I normally suck at Halo games though!
Nintenchris Posted September 17, 2010 Posted September 17, 2010 Daily challenges rule... and so does hologram Hologram = many easy kills
Dyson Posted September 17, 2010 Author Posted September 17, 2010 quick protip- the advanced settings allow you to place items according to coordinates. Use that for getting items to line up exactly. Thanks to Dyson..
Ellmeister Posted September 17, 2010 Posted September 17, 2010 Played it round a mates today. Its good fun. Still not going to buy it though!
Daft Posted September 17, 2010 Posted September 17, 2010 Daily challenges rule... and so does hologram Hologram = many easy kills I wish the daily challenges gave you more credits. I did all of today's ones and the bonus it really quite negligible. I absolutely LOVE armour lock on really small maps with a large team. It's absurdly useful. Hologram is great on larger maps.
Caris Posted September 18, 2010 Posted September 18, 2010 (edited) Me and Rob (Chuck/Patriot Ocelot) have spent the past 7 hours making a map called Cliffhanger, it's a Spartans vs Elites one flag CTF. Think of it has a cross between High Ground and Valhalla from Halo 3. It'll be on our File Share soon, feedback appreciated. Edited September 18, 2010 by Caris

Oxigen_Waste Posted September 19, 2010 Posted September 19, 2010 Does this game have perks in multiplayer? What the hell kind of question is that?
Ramar Posted September 19, 2010 Posted September 19, 2010 What the hell kind of question is that? It's hidden talk for "Have the developers ruined multiplayer like in Modern Warfare?"
Daft Posted September 19, 2010 Posted September 19, 2010 I dislike that the Firefight maps are ripped straight out of the Campaign. Had a blast earlier turning gravity for the player low and using the jet pack in a Firefight Rocketmatch, you can keep floating for absolutely ages. Also, putting the player speed up to 200%. I love messing with the settings. Makes the whole thing absurdly arcadey. Shame you can't mess around with the campaign like that.
Nintenchris Posted September 19, 2010 Posted September 19, 2010 If Bungie had new maps out tomorow id buy em up, of the maps that Reach comes with i can honestly say i only enjoy playing on 2 maybe 3 of them
Daft Posted September 20, 2010 Posted September 20, 2010 Yeah, there are a lot of disappointing maps. It would be good if they picked out 3 or 4 really good Forge maps from the community and put them into circulation, instead of restricting them to Forge/Custom games.
Nintenchris Posted September 20, 2010 Posted September 20, 2010 Halo: Reach Campaign Matchmaking To Begin Early Next Month Halo: Reach will support co-operative campaign matchmaking, you just haven't seen the feature yet because Bungie doesn't want people getting the story spoiled on the first mission they play. But in a couple of weeks, there should be enough of a gap since release that most folks will have seen the campaign plot points on their own already, Bungie writes in its weekly update. Expect the playlists to come in early October on the first matchmaking update for reach. Other game types and Forge maps will be available as well. That said, the potential for spoilers still exists if you hook up with a more advanced team. Missions may be vetoed like any map in standard multiplayer, but if the majority overrules your desire to play a part of the campaign well ahead of your singleplayer progress, you'll have no choice to bail out before it begins. In summary, "If you're worried about spoilers make sure you finish campaign before jumping into this playlist!" Bungie writes. No specific date was given, just "early October." Dog-amoto Posted September 20, 2010 Posted September 20, 2010 I don't understand why people would want to do it in co-op the first time round anyway, much less with total strangers. You'd have people blasting way ahead of you whereas I like to take my time. Plus they'd be talking over the cutscenes and skipping them.
Murr Posted September 20, 2010 Posted September 20, 2010 Well over the weekend I managed to pick up a few 'difficult' achievements on it. 'If they came to hear me beg' - Performed an Assassination against an Elite to survive a fall that would've been fatal. Yes, Sensei - Earned a First Strike Medal in a Matchmaking game. Banshees, Fast and Low - Hijacked a Banshee during the Reach Campaign. I tried to get the achievement for destroying Corvette and escort on mission 8, heroic difficulty so many times, but could never blow the corvette engines up in time before getting to close to it, quite infuriating, going to get on the campaign on Legendary tonight, ideally i'd like to do this before F1 2010 comes out.
Dyson Posted September 21, 2010 Author Posted September 21, 2010 How is the assassinating an elite achievement possible? I assume there's a set piece with which to do it? I got the Banshee one though which I was happy with Still can't get enough of this game right now. We need another Reach night.
Murr Posted September 22, 2010 Posted September 22, 2010 How is the assassinating an elite achievement possible? I assume there's a set piece with which to do it? I got the Banshee one though which I was happy with Still can't get enough of this game right now. We need another Reach night. yeah on the Pillar of Autumn level, right at the begining, when your noble team guy says 'race you there', if you look over the cliff you'll see an elite wondering between 2 over-turned trucks, at one point he'll stop near the closest truck, at that point take a couple steps back, sprint off the cliff, when about halfway down press LB to STOP the sprint, then hold the assasinate button down, if you manage to land on him you'll assasinate him. it took a few attempts but got there in the end. Well 1st level done on Legendary, Grunts and Jackals are still easy enough to take down, Jackals with shields are complete bell-ends, but still managable, Elites are pretty ridiculous, there rate of fire just seems to have increased to impossible levels, and pretty sure they dont reload. All in all... cant wait to get further on in the game on Legendary, Brute's should be great fun
Cube Posted September 22, 2010 Posted September 22, 2010 Jackals with shields are complete bell-ends, but still managable, They're quite easy to kill with the pistol and DMR - just two shots.
LegoMan1031 Posted September 22, 2010 Posted September 22, 2010 Im dieing enough times trying to complete this on normal... I dread to think what its like on legendary!
spirited away Posted September 23, 2010 Posted September 23, 2010 Anyone tried out the 'Reeeeeeeeeeach Raceeeeer' easter egg?
Murr Posted September 24, 2010 Posted September 24, 2010 Anyone tried out the 'Reeeeeeeeeeach Raceeeeer' easter egg? not yet no, or the Dance Club, once i get the Legendary campaign out of the way then i'll go play Finished 3rd mission last night in the whopping time of 108 Minutes

Murr Posted September 27, 2010 Posted September 27, 2010 Well Saturday afternoon i cleared 2 more missions, finished the space level, oh my shit that's difficult, the worst part is that from that point in the game it only gets harder now (from what i remember on the playthrough on normal)
Murr Posted September 30, 2010 Posted September 30, 2010 To anyone who has completed this on Legendary alone, you guys are my hero's and i have no idea how you've managed to stick with it. I'm currently on Exodus, the part of the level where you've just been dropped off my a Hornet at a part where you need to re-activate 2 AA guns, and then go to the main control part to switch them on. Well i've got the first AA gun on (the closest one to the drop off point) but from that point i'm stuck. I can take out all the nearest Grunts, Brutes and the 2 ghosts. But there is one Brute on a bridge with a plasma grenade launcher. this guy combined with the wraith under the bridge are destroying me, The brute will not come off that bridge, so head shots with dmr or pistol are quite difficult as the bridge is quite protected with high wall sides. if i do get close and get a good oppertunity to shoot him with fuel rod cannon his plasma grenade aim is just second to none and will stick me everytime. I'm going to get back on it tonight, but it seems i've hit a very large brick wall in the campaign on legendary / solo mode. I want to finish it solo though, thats some good gamescore to get from it.
