The X Factor talent show judge's accolade comes after she said recently that she hates looking thin and gets nicknamed "flatty batty". The first place finish for Cole, who is married to the Chelsea footballer Ashley Cole, is the first for a British contender in three years of the magazine's poll. A surprise result at number four was the American singer Britney Spears, who was expected to fall out of the top 100 following a turbulent year. However, after languishing at number 31 in last year's roster, she was launched into the top five through an online campaign by fans. British actress Anna Friel was voted ninth, while Slumdog Millionaire star Freida Pinto is a new entry at number 10. News reader Fiona Bruce and Countdown's Rachel Riley also both made debuts, at numbers 98 and 95 respectively. Now in its 15th year, nearly 10 million votes were cast by FHM readers worldwide to compile the list. FHM's 100 Sexiest supplement, featuring 52 pages of "the hottest women in the world", is in the June edition of FHM, on sale now. Here is the FHM 100 Sexiest Women 2009 top 10 (with last year's position in brackets): 1. Cheryl Cole (7) 2. Megan Fox (1) 3. Jessica Alba (2) 4. Britney Spears (31) 5. Keeley Hazell (3) 6.
