mcj metroid Posted April 4, 2009 Posted April 4, 2009 no no no I'd go as far as to say vice city and III are better.
Happenstance Posted April 4, 2009 Posted April 4, 2009 I prefer Vice City personally. San Andreas had amazing scope but I didnt like the 90s style. GTAIVs story was pretty good and the city was techinally brilliant but it lost way too much of the fun which made the GTAs work so well.
Shorty Posted April 4, 2009 Posted April 4, 2009 As Chuck said, you can just download it through the xbox, no need to go to the shops at all. It was my least favourite GTA, the whole 'hood' thing and gang wars was just not to my taste, not to mention going to the gym etc :/

Jimbob Posted April 5, 2009 Posted April 5, 2009 It was my least favourite GTA, the whole 'hood' thing and gang wars was just not to my taste, not to mention going to the gym etc :/ It wasn't too bad of a game. Yes, the gym thing was a pain and so was all that "physical" training as such i.e. riding a bike etc. But the rest of the game including the gang wars was enjoyable. Ok the gang wars dragged on for a bit and they were hard to find in some locations, but it was still good.
tapedeck Posted April 5, 2009 Posted April 5, 2009 The pedal bikes in SA were great. Would have loved them in GTA IV. I liked them in Bully too so R* were a bit daft to get rid of them imo. They also made for some good, different missions. I guess I just like the idea of going for a bike ride around the streets. GTA IV is more metropolitan though so maybe bikes would have stood out a bit. Plus, no kids/teens. Still, would have loved to have seen them in GTA IV. More variety = win and although GTA IV had the scope, variety is sure lacked. - Whereas SA had more variety than Saturday night TV circa 1970.

I would of liked some more open plains in GTA IV, i'm sure New York has some plains on the outskirts. Still, GTA IV is a great game
Dan_Dare Posted April 5, 2009 Posted April 5, 2009 Niko Bellic on a pedal bike? ridiculous. I only played a bit of SA- I thought it looked horrible, sounded worse and the whole gym/eating stuff was dumb as fuck.

I only played a bit of SA- I thought it looked horrible, sounded worse and the whole gym/eating stuff was dumb as fuck. The atmosphere was awesome and it really felt like a state imo. I loved how you started off in almost a bubble and then eventually it was mind blowing how much there was to the title. Eating etc, whilst a nice idea was something cut from GTA IV for good reason - it was perhaps too much like hard work. And pedal bikes were brill. Why bring great, fun gameplay elements into the franchise and then totally ignore them in GTA IV? Kinda gripes me when devs do this. Sure they wanted a massively cohesive, realistic world in IV but games are meant to be fun and IV felt laborious at times, like they had forgot what made the GTA franchise fun: Namely 'mischief' and the ways and means you can cause outrageous/humorous outcomes to missions and general arseing about moments. GTA IV needed more 'fun'. Instead it became all about driving. Meh. /rant.

I usually don't hate a game because of hype... but fuck did I hate this at the time.. It was hyped for so long at a time when i was in secondary school... It was one of the worst looking games I had seen on the ps2... Maybe due to the size... But the game tried too damn hard to make itself different from the superior vice city but it ended up with sparce locations, looked worse and had shite music(opinion yes.. but .. well cmon 80's rule)
