I used to want to call my kids Matthew and Emma, but i've gone of both now.

I think i might name my first born after me, boy or girl.

Then again ill probobly change my mind as it could get confusing.

If I had a son I'd be tempted to call him Tron.

Although after seeing the new Star Trek trailer I love the name Tiberius. :heh:

I like the name Xavier as well.

I like Tiberius, and xavier isnt that bad.

Hal (Technically a shortening of my name, Henry, and i hate passing on the parents names as it seems lazy and less fun, but I love it as an actual name)

Shakespearean names do reek of loveliness - I'll admit you that.

I love Oephilia Powers as a name aswell.

I can't name my daughter after a shit character from Catwoman, a shit (yet lovely) film.

I could need to name her Mandy Lane.

I am considering between two dilemmas. To give my kids really generic obvious names and hope they break from it and form their own way more due to the fact they're forced to(such as you might when you have a silly name like chris) or give them a ridiculously unique name that'd force them to be something in life. There's something about a weird name that does that, Prince being the most prominent example to spring to mind. Would he be who he was if he wasn't named Prince? I doubt it.

I might hit the middle ground some people have mentioned, and go for the more unique of first names...like Winston! Jamal! Elbert(dont think this is a name, but I want it to be)! Rupert! I could go on for ages!

Why not just not have children?

(No offence to Chair, who is called John)

My father was called John.

Those are the ones I can look at.

My father was called John.

So? Maybe it's just me, but you only one chance to name a child, and people with interesting (not over the top) names are always assuemd to be more fun.

However, I can see it being done for sentimental reasons.

Even then, I wouldn't do it for that reason, unless asked to be someone who might have passed away. I quite like the name Jean, and it's my deceased grandma's name, but that's not why I would consider it.

Including c***bush? I'd say it'd make resentment grow fonder :p

I agree. Chair needs to choose a name that's Somewhere In Between. I AM aware the name of his Mother Stands For Comfort, but I'm against the same names as family members generally...hmm.

I once met Kashka. That's a lovely name.

I'd prefer a joke twist on the ancestral names.

My Grandfather was called George, and I have a great uncle called Alexander and my dad named my younger sister Georgina Alexandrina after them.

And my dad's name is Alistair, and my youngest sister is called Alison.

And my oldest sister is named Sheelagh (technically a lovely twist on the well-known Sheila), named after some family member from ages ago - my dad's grandmother's sister or something. And then my other sister is called Helen(a), which was picked just because my parents loved the name/ Helen of Troy is lovely.
