ReZourceman Posted November 28, 2008 Posted November 28, 2008 I just got a message from 000000000000 saying SMS message settings updated. Please restart your mobile phone to activate the settings. Now....I'm a bit cautious. Does anyone have any recommendations? I don't wanna do this if its gonna fuck my phone.
S.C.G Posted November 28, 2008 Posted November 28, 2008 Google it... see if anyones had any problems with it, if not do it, if so delete it... [/thread] note: my comment isn't probably that helpful though as I only have a relatively old phone so for all I know it could be a completely legit update thing... or a virus.
ReZourceman Posted November 28, 2008 Author Posted November 28, 2008 Good idea. Lesse. Hmmm. Inconclusive. Can't find anything similar. Guess I'll ride it out. Or text someone to test it.
jayseven Posted November 28, 2008 Posted November 28, 2008 Who's your service provider? You sure that's the precise message you received? Leave your phone near any scallywags who're likely to fuck about and sign you up to shitty ringtone adverts? http://newsgroups.derkeiler.com/Archive/Uk/uk.telecom.mobile/2006-04/msg00400.html is the nearest I can find so far - though it's two years old. I think it's probably fine to reset your phone, just not to reply to the number. But hell, who resets phones these days anyways?
ReZourceman Posted November 28, 2008 Author Posted November 28, 2008 I hear ya. My phone is pretty much on me at all times, definitely no naughtiness or intrustion from other people. Thats the exact message also, yeah. Thanks for the help, I'll give that a read now.
Cube Posted November 28, 2008 Posted November 28, 2008 Do you have an Orange phone? I'm sure I've had a message like that from that number before.
ReZourceman Posted November 28, 2008 Author Posted November 28, 2008 Mine is T-Mobile. Mobily my little mobile.
Jav_NE Posted November 28, 2008 Posted November 28, 2008 How do they get our numbers? I got a missed call the other day, i checked the extension number and found out it was from Somalia! Like, WTF?!
Raining_again Posted November 28, 2008 Posted November 28, 2008 How do they get our numbers? I got a missed call the other day, i checked the extension number and found out it was from Somalia! Like, WTF?! T mobile and 3 (afaik) are known for having supposedly insecure customer databases. That or they are selling their customers numbers. I kept getting a load of grief with my 3 contract, constant people calling selling crap I don't want.
Gizmo Posted November 28, 2008 Posted November 28, 2008 How do they get our numbers? I got a missed call the other day, i checked the extension number and found out it was from Somalia! Like, WTF?! Perhaps they suspected you of piracy.
Shorty Posted November 28, 2008 Posted November 28, 2008 What could possibly go wrong if you restart your phone after recieving a txt message?
