Killzone 2

If flameboy and I are in the clan you can call it 'No Expectations'. Pretty much sums up the belief I have in my multiplayer skillz.

Otherwise 'N-E Fear' is the name I'm going to put forward.

Haha I like it...same way I feel about my skills if I am actually honest!

I guess that means we'll be the medics. :p

N-E Fear? XD

lol, I thought it was pretty funny. Are you suggesting adding a '?' on the end because I love that idea. :D

Judging from Left4Dead and R2 I'm insanely good at friendly fire so medic is pretty apt for me. :p

Will probably be a mechanic as well me thinks.

Guys, I'm having trouble understanding Choze in this thread.

It's almost as if his words are disrupted by Killzone 2's cock being in his mouth constantly.

Well my copy of Edge just arrived and yes it did get a 7/10...but its words that matter. Here are a few of my choice quotes that get me excited for the game;

A gun game in the truest sense, its bullets and ragdolls offer a literal take on the theatre of war, a rare pleasure since Goldeneye

In fact few story driven games have been so much more dramatic in multiplayer. Freed of its narrative shackles, Killzone 2's deathmatches openly celebrate the tight controls.....hand made environments and technical beauty.

Their main problem with the game is the story;

without the first game's ambiguities, a sense of humour or even an once of intrigue its story stinks.

OK but he is the Sony Spokesman so you'd expect him to big it up wouldn't you? Means no harm. He got into the beta so he wants to remind people of how awesome his experiences were. I know I would.

maybe not to that extent though

Here are class unlocks. There are other general unlocks too not in this chart. The engineer stuff is wrong way round. You unlock the repair ability after using the turrets.

Right now i am wondering if your mouth is being disrupted by KZ2 awe. :p

The classes sound great.

So could I be someone that runs around really fast (boost ability) whilst being able to lay C4?

How often can you use boost?

I'm definitely thinking I'm going to have turrets.

Is there any benefit to being just one class instead of a combination?

Well it's better to have a nice combo, and it's cool because to combo you have to get a lot of XP I think.

Yeah, I was just wondering if there were skills you could only get by being just one class.

Its one or the either in this case. You dont have full freedom but one ability of each class can be mixed. The other is exclusive to the class. e.g Spawn points or cloak.

So cloak and C4 then?

Also, what does the 8x stand for in the diagram and what does it mean by the specialist? Is that the maximum amount you can use the ability or what you need to do to get the next unlock?

The boost pill has a cooldown. Most abilities have a cooldown to prevent abuse. e.g turrets. Otherwise 4 in one go is abit much unless you can keep them up surviving the cooldowns.

8X means you to meet the target 8 times. e.g kill using shotgun 8 times in a round.

You have to do this a number of rounds. Ussualy 8.

Then you get the unlock. Makes it more skill based rather than just farming points.

Ah right I get it. I think I'll reach Scout rank in about ooh... Say 2 days after release?

Haha, It'll probably take 3 weeks + to get all the unlocks of solid playing.

I've decided when I get it I will just do online play and rank the crap out of it for a while and then spread the play out.

Played the demo a second time. Graphics look better than when i played it the first time. Actually everything was better second time round. Controls are a synch for my but maybe cos i have played the original (although not in a LONG time!). Demo is criminally short. Will play again i think after a quick nap.

Wait till you get the game. :santa: The graphics are insane. No action game comes close right now on consoles. The area straight after is alot of fun and is a much better graphics example ;)

Shame about demo length but its quite replayable. You can play with the AI or try to get the gun off the guy on the roof in the warehouse. One of my fave guns in multiplayer.

Aside from cover the demo really does not showcase much.

Well.....I finally got around to my brother in laws and made a UK account to get the demo. Not that impressive

AI seems bleh, Graphics are decent enough, outside of the animations, there are better looking games(imo) and I'm still talking consoles(although SDTV). Controls, idk why so many people switch to the second type and can't use the first type, I thought it was fine.

My main problem though is that controller, Sony really just has the worst controller, I bumped the sensitivity all the way up (which basically puts it to other games medium). But the speed wasn't my problem, it's those joysticks and their layout, I could hardly aim until I was getting to the end of the demo.

Now mind you, I can quite literally switch between the 360 controller and K/M on the fly with little to no disorientation to get use to aiming. I can't do it with the PS3 pad.

All in all, it's still probably worth the $60, it's probably much funner at a higher difficulty, and the online still sounds great to me.

How can you say that about the AI?! It's defiantly the best AI since Halo, tbh i think it's better than Halo.

The sticks are calibrated strangely for this game, it isn't the pad's fault. I know a lot of people complain about the DualShock 3's sticks, but they're perfect for CoD4 and several other games, it just comes down to the developer setting the correct deadzone and acceleration on the software side. I don't imagine it helps that Killzone 2 doesn't have anything like Halo's 'sticky' reticule that automatically tracks enemies to a certain degree.

To be honest if the sticks controlled a bit more tightly I'd have a lot more fun with the game, as during the demo I'm conscious that I'm fighting the controls to a certain degree. Hell, at least give me the option to set things up myself if nothing else; unfortunately The Darkness and SOCOM: Confrontation are the only two games I can think of that let you manually alter the more advanced sensitivity controls.

I don't. Maybe a higher difficulty will prove otherwise, but we won't know till then...well I won't know.

I played CoD4 on 360 so :/ I have played Resistance 1, and had the same issues until I had 3 minutes to get use to them (my KZ2 demo run took 19, and I was just getting there). Also, that "sticky" reticule is autoaim, which I turn off as it messes me up when aiming.

If I had time to run through the demo again, I'd probably be use to them at that point, but I had to make a point of this since Choze boldly said no one[i/] would be complaining.

I really don't see why people had to change the entire controls though, what's wrong with the defaults?

Exactly. Articulated much better than I could have done, I much prefer the PS3 controller for FPS games but hey, thats just my opinion.

As I have said a couple of pages back, the controls are suckage, so I will not be investing CoD4 amounts of time into the multiplayer.
