Yeah but I would say that if Haze came out on the Wii they would have given it at least a 7 just because it's a FPS.

Haze has an average of about 55% on Gamerankings, everyone is panning it, and it looks like a dogs dinner. I think reviewers are genrally harsher on Wii games because often the controls can be a love/hate thing and sometimes reviewers can't even be arsed learning them properly.

Conduit makes me REALLY sad.

1 - everyone's fapping about it and it barely looks as good as metroid did.

2 - it doesn't have a publisher

3 - it really shows how hard 'true gamers' have it on the wii... the first half decent looking game that isn't a sports title of mini-game compilation and everyone's is going mad.

It was supposed to be better than this, wasn't it?

It's funny how your recent posts timed well with the "hardcore" thread.

Sorry, what do you mean?

Today is the first time i've posted here in AGES. My posting history will attest to that.

High Voltage Software’s The Conduit is a stunning first-person action shooter that promises to provide some of the best visuals seen to date on Nintendo’s Wii gaming console.

Using their proprietary Quantum 3 Game Engine technology, the team at High Voltage Software is fusing fast and fluid gameplay with an advanced set of visuals intended to squarely establish the Wii as a true next-generation gaming platform. The first-person shooter boasts a competitive online multiplayer component and a thrilling single-player campaign. Advanced graphical features include dynamic environment mapping, interactive water with real-time reflection, and four-stage texture composition including gloss, diffuse, and bump mapping.

“Too many Wii owners have been told that the Wii is a casual platform with no room for serious games or top-tier graphics,” said Eric Nofsinger, Chief Creative Officer at High Voltage Software. “With The Conduit, we intend to prove that theory wrong by providing gamers with the kind of title they imagined back when the platform was first announced.”

Featuring terrifying alien creatures, an advanced Artificial Intelligence System, and a rich, conspiracy-laden story, The Conduit has more than a pretty face. “The Wii has tremendous potential,” said Kerry J. Ganofsky, CEO and founder of High Voltage Software. “We’ve invested heavily in our technology to make certain that potential is realized with The Conduit.”

The Conduit’s control scheme was carefully designed from the ground up with the Wii in mind, as were each of the weapons in the extensive armory, providing gameplay not possible on other platforms. As Secret Service Agent Ford, you must learn to master each of these weapons as well as the special “All Seeing Eye” device to defeat enemies, solve puzzles, and unravel the game’s mysteries.

“Conduit was especially designed for the Nintendo Wii” states Matt Corso, Creative Director at High Voltage Software. “From the weapons to armory and graphics, we tailored everything to the Wii which sets this game play apart from anything else on the market right now.”

The Conduit is currently scheduled for Q1 2009 release.

Now I just hope the game turns out well and it sells!

Except perhaps a load of first party titles.

Though this game sounds good.

i am definately buying this game even if it is utter garbage. just because the developer seems to be putting a lot of effort into the title. can't be said about to many wii developers now can it?

Does give off a little Half-Life vibe no? The shotgun and the alleyways in particular.

I see what you mean and the office/lab pic pedro posted, but I can only see that as a good thing.

Looks much better in motion, which is nice, but the detail on the back of his hand in the shot where he's cocking the pistol with a suppressor on is...very nice!

Indeed, but some other details are quite lacking (like on some badguys up close). Quite certain that will be ironed out as development progresses though.

It sure looks promising. Some screens look really good, like the one you're viewing from above down to an alley. Some are kinda meh. Im sure they'll iron it out as they've still got plenty of time.

I think this game lack really good art direction though. It's so.. bland and generic. We'll see how this pans out. Definitely paying attention to this one.

Wouldn't say it's bland and generic. The reload animation for one of those guns is just awesome, Farsight-like. It's almost symbiotic that gun. I like.

Furthermore, I think the gaming industry has come to a standstill when art direction in shooters is concerned. A game doesn't stand or fall due to gun-design, it does however due to bad gameplay.

I was gonna post something like "THE VEINS! LOOK AT THE VEINS!!!" but you've sort of beaten me too it.

These screens and others reminds me of Metroid in some ways [think there's something quite Space Pirate about some of the enemies]:

Again, with the Space Pirate thing, my thought's exactly.

Still very hyped for this baby.

Considering the dev's track record I wouldn't be surprised if this ended up being average but it's great to see some 3rd parties, specially a small one taking Wii development seriously.

I'll buy this regardless of reviews, simply because High Voltage are one of the few companies taking the Wii seriously. We've got Gyrostarr, Animales de Muerta and V.I.P. Casino Blackjack coming up for WiiWare, they're putting a hell of a lot of effort into these exclusive titles.

The track record is, admittedly, made up of largely liscenced games. However, you also need to take into account that with those games, the publisher was likely typically strict with deadlines and intrusive in the devlopment process.

HVS have already stated that the reason they've not chosen a publisher yet (they have about 10 trying to bite their hands off) is because they've been burned in the past. HVS have a big enough budget to get The Conduit finished themselves, and when they feel the game is far enough along so it can't be tampered with by any other company, they'll open up to publishers.

This really isn't like any other game they've made before.
