mcj metroid
Racing games that DONT use the wiimote. the wiimote has the potential to be better than a normal controller. It hasn't been giving a proper chance yet. I bet mario kart will change our minds.. I think it's in need of a split screen multiplayer game or at this stage any multiplayer a all.. The last good one was brain acedemy and that was how should i say it short lived? Surely that's where the problem lies though, and why third party games don't tend to do as good. Because Wii owners/Nintendo fans only go for Nintendo games and very little else? there is that side but we are going for Nintendo games because with little exception their games are the only good ones.. zack and wiki did relatively poorly but then games like resident evil 4 did fairly well and THAT was a remake. I don't buy a game just because it has nintendo written on the box. I buy quality. I can't speak for anyone else though.
Adrian DX
Nintendo has done great with the Wii, BUT.. Online Functionality Racing Games Horror/18+ Games and the fact that we've only got 512Mb of space on the damn thing is a pain in the butt. Those are the things I fell the Wii is missing. Also, a freeloader would spare me for some cash I've already spent on my Japanese Wii (but this is up to Datel of course, and not Nintendo themselves =P)
Falcon_BlizZACK
I'd agree, Excite Truck is just about being awesome and the Wii Remote controls help it pull that off. Without them it'd never have felt as exciting and would have never been the gem of a game I thought it was. God I hope they make a sequel. For more realistic games I don't know if it'd add anything, although I'd like to see someone use the Wii Remote as a steering wheel and balance board as the gas and brake (There's great potential for making accelerating / braking input analgoue instead of digital). God know if it's work, but really why play a reaistic racer on Wii as oppose to PS360 if it's not gonna use Wii controls :/? You agree with me?...Must be Christmas. : peace:

Without them it'd never have felt as exciting and would have never been the gem of a game I thought it was. God I hope they make a sequel. Agreed. There's a lot of problems with the game but because of the Wii Remote it's awesome. (There's great potential for making accelerating / braking input analgoue instead of digital) But analogue acceleration/breaking is now standard on the 360/PS3. The Wii is in desperate need of polish, lots and lots of polish. (Coupled with a year-long ban on mini-game compilations) The same can be said of a lot of recent games on all consoles. Lack of polish and the "unfinished" feeling seems quite common now - worst offenders are probably Assassin's Creed and Mass Erect.

Deathborn
Nintendo should give us what we've been asking for since the N64-days: A Gran Turismo Beater! Hey! I never never asked that!! The wii just need to taken a little more seriously by third parties ... and also "M&M's Racing 2: Approaching light speed!".
LazyBoy
The only thing the Wii is in need of is a break, as with the PS3 so leave off that as well. The problem is that everyone compares it to the 360 and says "but I playz my 360 likez all dayz but never touch my wii" like its some kind of surprise. Ofcourse you do retard its been out another year. By the time the Wii is as old as the 360 it'll have a better JRPG than the 360 does (Tales) a better fighter than it does (SSBB) a better puzzle game than the 360 (Zack and Wiki) and already has better platform games and adventure games (Corruption and Galaxy). The Wii won't have have an FPS as good as COD4 or online as good as live by next year. Probably never with the online. Drop it, it ain't gonna happen. Disapointed?, then get a 360. The Gamecube by this time had Smash Bros, Luigi's Mansion and Rouge Squadron. That's it. The PS3 is the same, about to get some great games, so give that a break too. And whoever asked for a Gran Turismo beater should wake up, Nintendo only make games that are actually enjoyable.

The Wii has been around for a year now. In the Gamecube's first year (May 2002 - May 2003) we also had Super Monkey Ball (launch title), Mario Sunshine (October 2002), Eternal Darkness (? - I got it for Christmas 2002), Metroid Prime (March 2003), and Zelda: The Wind Waker (May 2003). There are more too, like Star Fox Adventures and Wave Race Blue Storm, but probably not what most of you people would call noteworthy.
darksnowman
Rouge Squadron because of all the blood in it? Hah no, just a common typo! :p Cozmic, you forgot to mention Smash Bros. Melee, it was a launch window game on the Gamecube. As for Eternal Darkness, it was out October/ November from what I remember- probably around Halloween? That would be kinda logical. jammy2211
Looking at the GameCube's launch line up is a bit silly seeing as it came out 9 months after it did in Japan, so after a year in Europe it actually had 21 months worth of software :/. McMad
You're all forgetting Pikmin, that was an amazing new IP from Nintendo, something we've yet to see from Nintendo yet this generation.
Pit-Jr
Yes, its really all about the new IPs, or lack thereof. Nintendo are always on about wanting to suprise people, but i cant think of a single Wii game that has suprised me the way that Pikmin, Eternal Darkness or Luigi's Mansion did. The library is just way too predictable.
LazyBoy
Ha yeah I missed a couple there didn't I. Still point stands. Might have been better if I had used the PS2 as an example. Pit-Jr
You mean except Wii Sports and Wii fit? Ah Wii Sports. Glaring oversight on my part! I guess i was thinking more in terms traditional games. I still have no interest in Wii Fit, on a personal note but i suppose it can be considered a new IP, like Wii Play

McMad
Damn I forgot about all the 'Wii (insert word)' games too. I'll give you those as new IPs, but like Lazy Boy said; they're not really for gamers like us.
Emasher
Less mini game collections (the only ones I think are worth playing are the rayman ones because of the comic element). More games that use the standards set by games like Zelda, Metroid and Mario. Lots and Lots of RPGs The thing about the Cube was that many of the games that weren't really that good were still worth playing some examples would be: wario world, bomber-man jetters, ect. on the wii the ones that aren't good are almost always really bad. Just because the wii is cheap to develop for doesn't mean developers should just put the minimum amount of money in them and create something that in 20 years the angry video game nerd will review. They should put the money that they save not into xbox games but spend it on the game that they save it on and make it truly a good game.
Fierce_LiNk
I don't think there have been THAT many mini-game collections on the Wii. It's been over-exaggerated and an over-used phrase, much like "Nintendo make kiddy games" (from SEGA in ye olde console war). I think gamers are becoming too defensive, and are probably a little bit too worried over change. Why is it such a bad thing? Gaming has always been about entertainment, and above all - fun. It has only recently become a home to an interactive movie-like experience. If you have fun with the likes of WiiSports, where you can actually put the controller in the hands of anyone and allow them to be competitive, then where's the harm in that? Have you guys ever given an N64 controller to your (much) younger brother and expected them to be competitive in a game like Goldeneye? Get the basics right, and so far Nintendo have been doing that. To be honest, I think people love to have a pop at Nintendo. Nobody was giving the 360 a hard time like this during its first year. Whenever something is done differently, or importantly when people become successful at doing something differently, there is suddenly an influx of people jumping on a bandwagon to have a pop at them. darksnowman
Haha Fierce, in fairness we loved how the Xbox 360 had a useless start and everything, we just kept quiet about it. What the Wii needs? I'd say most bases have been covered. What I want is Fire Emblem: Dawn of Radiance to get released in Europe asap!
Tellyn
It'd be great to see some new IPs next year. I think WiiWare has loads of potential and we'll see loads of great games from third parties and Nintendo themselves. Most new IPs will probably hit that. Eternal Darkness just happens to be my favourite Gamecube game though. Not bad for what began as a N64 project.
