Daft Posted June 7, 2011 Posted June 7, 2011 He was sooooooo happy that the WiiU could play games my five-year-old Xbox and four-year-old PS3 can play. It's both tragic and pathetic. Not to mention Sony have accidentally ended up with a similar set-up with the Vita. First thing he did when he entered the chatroom was talk about sales. LOOOOOOL. Loser fanboy.
dwarf Posted June 7, 2011 Posted June 7, 2011 (edited) I'm left confused and underwhelmed. Not just by Nintendo but by gaming in general, I find it almost boring now. The banter is funny but as time progresses the number of fucks I give depletes. You realise that people won't change and that consumers are magpies. And branding a fucking vulture. Edit: I thought the tragic thing was that he pretended I cared or had some sort of problem with Nintendo becoming viable again. Not that they are now viable, they're once again catching up too late. Daft Posted June 7, 2011 Posted June 7, 2011 I know. It's amazing how much he fails to understand how much I don't have a problem with Sony crashing and burning if they started making games I didn't like. They're a massive corporation, I owe them nothing. They owe it to me to keep me interested. If they don't do that then arrivederci sucka. Basically it was a real yawn of an E3. Microsoft were predictably dire (they're having massive internal conflicts). Sony announced pretty much everything pre-show and then felt a need to bore everyone with about a billion live demonstrations (OMG, thank you Nintendo for using videos). The Vita was thankfully without any real fault - I think it really delivered. Nintendo have the WiiU which I pretty much knew about a couple months ago and the best they can do is deliver the same games as our now relatively old consoles. It's going to be the same old where it takes Nintendo to get the ball rolling with their new console by which time it is only their games that sell. Altogether it was pretty meh. Bar Vita but I'm pretty sure that's only because I want something shiny and new.
dwarf Posted June 7, 2011 Posted June 7, 2011 consumers are magpies. Bar Vita but I'm pretty sure that's only because I want something shiny and new. Lolol. Basically from now I want every game to be like Journey on PSN, Sword and Sworcery for the iPad, and The Last Guardian. I want different. If games can't master narrative they can at least nail some emotion by keeping it short and sweet and by being arty. Lower down the hierarchy lies Dark Souls, which is unique and atmospheric. It's its own thing but has the same sort of draws of similar past genres. Then comes what I've been playing for years - modernised games. I'm becoming less interested in Uncharteds and Resistances but I still need my fix occasionally. I actually hope one day I won't care for them. Everything else can get fucked, games suck.
dwarf Posted June 7, 2011 Posted June 7, 2011 (edited) I thought E3's advert for gaming was awful. There was nothing new or exciting this year other than hardware. Except I'm not really that interested in the NGP and the WiiU set-up looks plain backward. Edited June 7, 2011 by dwarf
Daft Posted June 7, 2011 Posted June 7, 2011 3D is so shit. I thought I'd got away with it when Sony had STFU but then Nintedo started yapping on about the bloody 3DS.
Aimless Posted June 7, 2011 Posted June 7, 2011 I thought E3's advert for gaming was awful. E3 isn't over. Generally the more left-field stuff doesn't emerge from the conferences; Journey had a separate demo last year, Sony's press event didn't mention it.
dwarf Posted June 7, 2011 Posted June 7, 2011 Nah, 3D is cack. Visual quality gets compromised for an unjustified cause.
Daft Posted June 7, 2011 Posted June 7, 2011 Even when it isn't compromised visually it's just gimmicky. I saw Kung Fu Panda 2 on Europe's largest 3D screen at the o2. I doubt that since the BFI IMAX is the biggest screen in Britain.
Dog-amoto Posted June 7, 2011 Posted June 7, 2011 My main E3 disappointment was no GTAV announcement. But if I remember correctly, they only unveiled IV on Rockstar's own website, (I remember seeing a poster advertising the reveal - that's how big it was), rather than at a big event like E3 so I suppose it would have been doubtful anyway
Daft Posted June 7, 2011 Posted June 7, 2011 (edited) Well that's me out of the whole PS3 thing. I think just got YLOD and I have no money to repair or replace it. The console just switches off randomly and the red light blinks. This is the third PS3 to have died on me. I think I'm quitting gaming. Bye. Edited June 7, 2011 by Daft
Daft Posted June 8, 2011 Posted June 8, 2011 How much does it cost to get Sony to repair a YLOD'd PS3?
Daft Posted June 8, 2011 Posted June 8, 2011 Uuuurgh. FML. Anyway, I think I'll post this here so I don't get lynched. Nintendo coughs to using Xbox, PS3 footage at Wii U event
Tales Posted June 8, 2011 Posted June 8, 2011 I listened to the interview yesterday but I don't think he said it like that? I may be mistaken, but I'm not familiar with this.
Happenstance Posted June 8, 2011 Posted June 8, 2011 Im amazed that its even an issue. During the conference Nintendo said themselves that they'd only be showing one game in development for the Wii U and that was the Lego one. The other videos showed what will be coming.
Cube Posted June 8, 2011 Posted June 8, 2011 But the Ninja Gaiden footage had way more blood then the 360/PS3 trailer...
Daft Posted June 8, 2011 Posted June 8, 2011 I don't really understand why they announced it this E3. Surely next E3 would have been much more appropriate.
Tales Posted June 8, 2011 Posted June 8, 2011 But it's being released nekst year. They need more than 6 or so months to build up the hype right? (unless you're talking about Vita, because this is the PS board after all...)
Hero-of-Time Posted June 8, 2011 Posted June 8, 2011 I don't really understand why they announced it this E3. Surely next E3 would have been much more appropriate. It was to just get it in the public eye but they really should have shown it with some actual game footage. It seems to have bit them in the butt as alot of people are confused as to what they watched and Nintendo's shares dropped to the lowest they have ever been in 5 years.

(unless you're talking about Vita, because this is the PS board after all...) No, I'm being massively off topic. Also, less/no Nintendo fanboys here. It was to just get it in the public eye but they really should have shown it with some actual game footage. It seems to have bit them in the butt as alot of people are confused as to what they watched and Nintendo's shares dropped to the lowest they have ever been in 5 years. Surely, though, they could have gone about it differently. I remember with the Wii they alluded to it at E3 but then the big reveal was at TGS. That would have just made so much more sense to me. Still building a little hype but then actually having stuff to show, too. It's pretty much summed up by the whole Smash Bros being announced but there being absolutely no work having been done on it yet. I just find it a little nonsensical, that's all. I think TGS would have been perfect for a full reveal.
