Deathjam Posted February 20, 2009 Posted February 20, 2009 My madcatz pad arrived this morning before I headed out to work so obviously, llooking at the beauty made me late for work. Will try it out now and give my two cents but it does seem a whole lot more responsive than the ps3 dpad.
McPhee Posted February 20, 2009 Posted February 20, 2009 Argh stupid Mad Catz! Looks like they've completely under supplied the SFIV fightpads across Europe and according to Play they'll be no new stock until June....JUNE!!!! Grahh not impressed. June?!?!?! Urgh I can't pull off charge moves with the 360 pad at all! Sooo, 4 months wait or £56 for a Hori arcade stick (which is a rip-off btw, seen these as low as £35) at Play Asia. Nowhere in the country seems to have stock of any fight sticks/pads...
Mike Posted February 20, 2009 Posted February 20, 2009 Just had my first online experience, and surprisingly, didn't lose my first match! Had about seven matches, and won three, which is better than I'd been expecting.
Columnar Posted February 20, 2009 Posted February 20, 2009 Got the game and my beautiful Chun-Li pad today and now that I have unlocked Cammy I am ready to take the fight online:yay: Took me a few fights to get used to it but now that I have it really is the best fighting game ever. Fightpad is really responsive although I do find doing charge Super Combos (like Chun-Li's for example) a bit difficult to pull off sometimes because of the way the pad rolls around but other than that glad I got it with the game. Going to add all the 360 players so hopefully will get a few matches in over the weekend.
McPhee Posted February 20, 2009 Posted February 20, 2009 Seth's Ultra is... a pain in the arse. Does he really need to be any cheaper? He KO'd me when he was a single punch away from death using his Ultra. Twice. Got the hang of it though, he tried it TWICE in the SAME ROUND in my last game, 2nd time he got a Metsu to the back :p
The Bard Posted February 20, 2009 Posted February 20, 2009 Can we have like...Street Fighter nights now? It would be awesome, like. I know Danimal is up for it. Played some online matches tonight, was practically lag free, although there was a slight frame delay. My only real complaint is that this game is fucking slow. Like, as slow as the original Street Fighter 2. *sigh* Bring on Street Fighter 4: Turbo.
Jav_NE Posted February 21, 2009 Posted February 21, 2009 27 fights online, 13 wins lol. I'm quite proud of that though! It's crazy how different it is playing real people and not the CPU.
The-chosen-one Posted February 21, 2009 Posted February 21, 2009 Anyone else thing Abel is the most annoying opponent in the whole game? >.< mmh not really its bit easy when i play with ryu or Sagat my 2 most favorite characters of all time im really enjoying online so addictive My scores are now 110 fights - 79 wins - longest win rate 11
McPhee Posted February 21, 2009 Posted February 21, 2009 On a mission tomorrow, gonna go find me an arcade stick. I've given up on getting one of the SF ones, so i'm gonna try and find an old Saturn/PSX/Xbox/Dreamcast stick and a cheapo 3rd party 360 controller. A bit of soldering later and i'm all sorted (hopefully). Should set me back £30 tops and tide me over until i have the time and money to build one from scratch.
The-chosen-one Posted February 21, 2009 Posted February 21, 2009 haha lol i never liked that movie with jean claude van damme they ruined streetfighter i think the new streetfighter movie will be good i saw some good fights in the trailer who are all your 3 favorite characters 1st-Ryu 2nd-Sagat 3rd-Ken
Happenstance Posted February 21, 2009 Posted February 21, 2009 Finished unlocking everyone last night, gonna go back to it now on the harder modes to get better.
flameboy Posted February 21, 2009 Posted February 21, 2009 I'm sorely tempted to get this...Just sounds so fun and everyone on my friends list is playing it...put it on my rentals list but if recent experience is anything to go by they keep sending stuff off the bottom of the list.
Pit-Jr Posted February 21, 2009 Posted February 21, 2009 Get it flameboy! I called you out in the Tournament thread..... How many battle points do you guys have? Im up to 1100 or so! Um what are they good for?

Babooo Posted February 21, 2009 Posted February 21, 2009 Wooooo! Got my Ken Fightpad through the post! Can't wait to try it!
Guest Jordan Posted February 21, 2009 Posted February 21, 2009 The pad really helps! I love the thing . Annoying thing is, the characters i'm good with (Sagat, Sakura, Ken, Ryu) i can kill Seth first time on Medium, no problems. But with characters that are useless (Dalshim...). I just can't do it! Its so hard! T___T
Shorty Posted February 21, 2009 Posted February 21, 2009 With characters I'm not into, like Rufus, Dhalsim... Seth is really fucking annoying. Even on easiest difficulty it took me about 12 tries to beat Seth using Rufus ¬______________¬ considering I can flatten him with Ken on medium or above that's just a little irritating. Just a couple more characters to finish with to unlock Seth! Then I can just leave the game on and watch him get pummeled to cheer myself up while I eat my lunch or something.
ReZourceman Posted February 21, 2009 Posted February 21, 2009 Seth is so fucking frustrating. I'm on the second fucking easiest setting FFS.
Babooo Posted February 21, 2009 Posted February 21, 2009 Gonna buy this today....got my fightpad so its all gd! Just a shame that I'm gonna have to wait until sunday to play it.....at home now but my xbox is at uni!
Shorty Posted February 21, 2009 Posted February 21, 2009 Just went through the game with Seth thinking it would be nice to finish without having to fight Seth. You still fight Seth ¬___________¬
Deathjam Posted February 21, 2009 Posted February 21, 2009 My thoughts on the pad after playing with it all yesterday: PAD FUCKING OWNS. Moves that I do at a rate of 5/10 become 9/10 (would be 10/10 but im not perfect ) Love the chun li design on it but it needs her legs Anyways, a little annoying it uses batteries but I have chargeable ones so no prob. Also requires one port for the wireless receiver. Again annoying as I have only 2 usb ports ¬_¬ so Im gonna have to be careful when it comes to charging the pads and headset.
Mundi Posted February 21, 2009 Posted February 21, 2009 Played over at Vicar´s, Abel makes me want to rip out my own throat. Also playing Zangief is hilarious we beat the game with him on easy in like 5-6 minutes. Also what does Zangief unlock, we accidentally skipped trough what he unlocks

flameboy Posted February 21, 2009 Posted February 21, 2009 Would the fighting pads be a good compromise for me? I have often said on here how I struggle with the dualshock for Streetfighter 2 HD Remix. There are a combination of reasons for this. I never owned a SNES and almost exclusively played SF2 in the arcades and on the Amiga. Whilst the Amiga's two button set up made things harder I still used a joystick as opposed to a joypad and when you couple in these two methods of play its not hard to see why I have always found using a stick rather than a dpad. The second thing I can't handle is using the shoulder buttons for moves...need my six buttons. So perhaps the fighting pad will help things and I will just have to finally adapt to using a dpad. I use it for stuff like MK vs DC but find that easier as a lot of its moves are like <- XXX or ->->OXO for example whereas SF has the quarter turns etc that I find hard on the dpad. I can't really justify paying top dollar for the sf arcade stick (even the none tournament one) but the hori stick is available pretty cheaply;

If you don't like using the shoulder buttons then you can remap the HK/HP to the face buttons. Then if you really can't get on with the pad, iinvest in a fightstick. SFIV would definately be worth the investment though. EDIT: Oh, and for some reason, SFIV is sooo much easier to pWn online. I used to get my arse handed to me on HD Remix, but not on this.
