Pantsu Man! Posted February 19, 2009 Posted February 19, 2009 Right how do you do the Ultra moves? I've been in Training mode for 10 minutes now with Sakura (Hell YEAH!) and Ryu, playing as both trying to do the Ultra move. I get the blue bar all the way up and the red circle says Ultra. When I do the button combo it registers it as the one before it. eg. Ryu will do the Shinku Hadoken and not the Metsu Hadoken...
Domstercool Posted February 19, 2009 Posted February 19, 2009 You need to press all three punch buttons to do it, or just press LB for easiness(360) Ultra and Super are different things, they don't need both bars to work.
MATtheHAT Posted February 19, 2009 Posted February 19, 2009 IIRC, and if its the same as before, then it should be light punch, light kick (could be other way round) forwards, then medium kick, hard punch? Been along time since I pulled that off and have not unlocked him yet. LP -> LP -> Forward -> LK -> HP for Akuma's rape attack. Or at least it was before, it may have changed, but somehow I doubt it! Thats what it says in the start menu, suppose I will just have to give it some practice. Are you pressing all 3 Punch buttons (or the button assigned to that) after you do the directional pad motions? EDIT: God I am such a slow Typist, with my sausage fingers and everything. So yeah, what Domster says.^^^
Dyson Posted February 19, 2009 Posted February 19, 2009 It's gotta be done really quickly. Don't let each one land, hit the buttons in a quick sequence, just go for it. Don't wait until the LP's or LK have finished their animation.
dwarf Posted February 19, 2009 Posted February 19, 2009 All the high ratings and praise has made me consider buying this as my first SF game. Don't really think it's worth getting 2 fighting games though because I am definetly getting Tekken 6.
Dyson Posted February 19, 2009 Posted February 19, 2009 Compared to Street Fighter, Tekken is horrible.
Domstercool Posted February 19, 2009 Posted February 19, 2009 Nice 13 hour session of Street Fighter 4 there ^_^ God damn dhalsim vs seth on normal took me an hour just for that, god i hate dhalsim, lol
dwarf Posted February 19, 2009 Posted February 19, 2009 Compared to Street Fighter, Tekken is horrible. Wrong, wrong, wrong! Tekken is awesome, I think the characters are great and I prefer the art-style. Obviously I can't really argue in terms of gameplay but I don't see Tekken being that bad in comparison. This is probably where our differences lay: Tekken 6 Street Fighter 4 To me the combos of Yoshimitsu are more badass. There's no room for debate if you are a huge SF fan though, if you grew up with the series and are a master at it I can see why you would prefer it.
DiemetriX Posted February 19, 2009 Posted February 19, 2009 YEEEEEESSS!!!! Beet seth on normal with 3 rounds.
Domstercool Posted February 19, 2009 Posted February 19, 2009 Try doing that with Dhalsim Diemetrix :P IT'S A BITCH!

Don't wait until the LP's or LK have finished their animation. Ahhhhhh, the penny has dropped. After having a go at the hard Trail Challenges, I can see now how to cancel into the next move, basically doing what you said about pressing the buttons in quick succession without letting the animations finish. Jesus Christ some of these top level players must be seriously skilled, Just tried to do a *deep breath* Jump into hard kick cancel into target combo cancel into light shoryuken cancel into EX focus attack cancel into shinryuken.........nails. All the high ratings and praise has made me consider buying this as my first SF game. Don't really think it's worth getting 2 fighting games though because I am definetly getting Tekken 6. I love Tekken as much as the next man, but seriously, long term fan or not, SFIV owns Tekken.
dwarf Posted February 19, 2009 Posted February 19, 2009 You don't have to wreck your fingers when you play Tekken though, which to SF players is part of the fun apparently.
DiemetriX Posted February 19, 2009 Posted February 19, 2009 I can't pull off those ultra moves, been trying for a while in training mode now :| Can some one tell me how to do it with a specific character?
MATtheHAT Posted February 19, 2009 Posted February 19, 2009 You don't have to wreck your fingers when you play Tekken though, which to SF players is part of the fun apparently. True I can't pull off those ultra moves, been trying for a while in training mode now :| Can some one tell me how to do it with a specific character? Ken: With the Ultra Meter Flashing: Press down on the D pad, then slide your thumb up towards your opponent so your thumb is on the direction facing your opponent. Do that twice in quick succession then press all three punch buttons (Light, medium and heavy). EDIT: Aghhhhh, just faced off against Gouken to unlock him, then when I beat him he did not unlock, turns out you have to beat the game with Akuma first. Damn.
Dyson Posted February 19, 2009 Posted February 19, 2009 Is it possible to map a button to "All three punches"? I know it's been possible with shoulder buttons in previous games. Is it possible to map a button to "All three punches"? I know it's been possible with shoulder buttons in previous games.
killer kirby Posted February 19, 2009 Posted February 19, 2009 Yeah, got the game now, and I must say....SETH IS A BITCH!!!! This is the one thing I hate in fighting games, end bosses that are bloody annoying to beat (Perhaps that's why I still enjoy playing Street Fighter II as M.Bison isn't such a bitch and is more of a normal character)
ReZourceman Posted February 19, 2009 Posted February 19, 2009 Is this the PS3 edition? It doesn't come with a blu-ray disc?If it doesn't, I'll be pissed: I ordered the L.E. PS3 edition, so I could keep the anime disc and sell the game to a friend (I don't have a PS3), and I picked up the regular Xbox 360 release... Yep just a bonus disk with no case, just a plastic sleeve. So to re-cap. £30 for 6 page manual of info thats in the game. "Bonus disk" in a sleeve (the kind of thing they give away with newspapers) 2 crappy quality figures. Oh well, the games amazing. My thumbs gonna be knackered.
Happenstance Posted February 19, 2009 Posted February 19, 2009 God damn it! Its typical that the day im supposed to get SFIV and will want to do some online gaming my net connection drops down to 300k! I hate my isp!
Jav_NE Posted February 19, 2009 Posted February 19, 2009 If you just want to unlock eveybody then play easiest mode and tap HK the whole time. It beats everyone, including Seth (set it to one round - you may have to move a little in the direction of the opponent, but thats it). Cheap, but it works if you're really bad at the game. Still havn't figured out how to get Gouken, but i think i know how now. Just got to try it tonight.
Deathjam Posted February 19, 2009 Posted February 19, 2009 according to amazon, my wireless pad is being dispatched soon. I WANT IT NOW! MY fricking wrists hurt!

Oh so that means press all 3 at the same time. I thought it meant press 1 punch button 3 times. Now that I know that I might be able play the game properly.
Happenstance Posted February 19, 2009 Posted February 19, 2009 goddammit, where's my dispatch email!? Where did you order it from?
