I want both these new tales games, yet we only have a vague release on Vesperia (The one I look forward to more) and no release date for this one. It's plain idiotic to make us wait this long, we better get some new region exclusive content for our troubles.

You have to admit it does look quite Lloydish

I'm tempted to get that Soul Calibur Legends game just because Lloyd is in it, trying to find it cheap

^ dear god, don't do it. It's dire. Really not worth any stretch of money in my eyes.

Hmmm...

Now if Zelos was in it... :heh:

Anyway, back to this new game, what is Namco doooiinnggg? I want, nay, NEED this new Symphonia! At first, I was pretty skeptical, what with them not having Zelos' beautiful voice, but still, after playing ToS so many times recently: I NEED EEETT!!

i finaly found a philosopher stone to make the statue

here are some ways to find them

Philosopher's Stone:

--------------------

Cape Fortress: Blue Knight Puzzle. Extinguish flames as listed. Bottom-Left,

Middle Left, Middle-Right, Top-Right, bottom-right, top-left.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++

EASIEST METHOD:

Farm Elaphebolion in the Temple of Lightning. To do this, simply fail at the

yellow block puzzle until you fight one, then steal the Philsopher's Stone.

They can be quite weak, so turning up the difficulty, turning off your other

party members, or waiting for it to lower your Attack with it's arte Grr,

or equipping weak weapons may help if you have trouble not killing it.

They come frequently, so this method is fairly fast.

EASY METHOD:

Just steal one from the first Boss you run into, then exit Gladsheim... go

back, repeat.

NEXT EASIEST METHOD:

Repeat Coliseum Special Party Battle (2nd Battle) with a few Item Finder

Skills.

NEXT EASIEST METHOD:

Defeat the rare King Leeches in the Iselia Human Ranch.

LAST EASY METHOD:

Run through several S/A rank quests. Treasure Chests from A RANK and S RANK

Katz quests.

hope it helps worked for me

Sooo... this game is finally out in Europe in a few days (06/02/09) so a question to anyone who's allready played it...

Does it really live up to the original and does it really feel like a proper sequel?

Posted

To be honest, I don't think this is out on the 6th. I don't even think it has a release date yet, or even infact a publisher.

Although it's not in the same league as as ToS, it's still very good and does a lot of fanservice. Skits are really good aswell. Basically, if you like/love ToS you should get this.

Yeh, this is the first I've heard about it getting released on the 6th. Don't believe it has a publisher let alone a release date. But I shall endeavour to find out as I have been waiting for this for awhile now.

edit: Ok, so it's appearing on a few sites as the 6th for Europe but there's been no announcement about it. So I'm a bit skeptical. I'll ask some people I know who work in game stores to see if it is coming out on Friday.

I've heard nothing about a Euro date aside from now so for now i'm not believing this. It's completely under the radar aswell so I won't imagine many folk will know this has release.

It doesn't live up to the original. Not even close. Though if it had a world map like in the original it may have come close. Unless you liked the first one, don't get it though, its pretty much just a game for the fans.

It never would of lived up, ToS was that good of a game. It's still good though, though the only thing that annoys me is that fixing little things could have made it so much better.

Although this is a primarily a game for fans and has lots of fan service, I wouldn't say only folk who have played ToS should get it. It can still stand on it's own as an RPG. Fun combat system, amazing skits, decent enough story that I quite liked and it still fills you in on what happend in the previous game mostly. Game that you can play to pass time for other games.

*sigh* Thats all I needed to know... the original TOS was an excellent RPG and one of the best on the GC and one of those 'must-have' titles, therefore the sequel by rights if done properly would have lived up to it, but if it's merely a 'filler' game to play inbetween the 'big' titles (which this could have been one of those must-haves) then I think I may think twice about getting it. :/

Posted

You should still get it if you like ToS, it's still better than other games out there for the Wii.

I'd personally put it on the level of NMH/Zack and Wiki/Trauma Center preference wise. I think they're all great games, but could easily be better. Well maybe not Zack and Wiki, dunno how that can get better.

Posted

^ exactly. Zack and Wiki was virtually perfect.

As for this, I'll be getting it if it ever gets an EU release. Bit pissed about the overmap being changed as I quite enjoyed the freedom you had to walk about. But it's not a huge deal.

I will say that if this doesn't get released in Europe, then it'll be very doubtful that Tales of (Ten) gets a release, even if it is the next big installment in the series.

I just gave Chairdriver my gamecube to borrow, with ToS, the only RPG I've ever finished and loved.

It's reignited my need for this sequel.

New step in the vindication for a pal release for this f*cking game...

Seeing that apparently Namco Bandai is answering mails regarding ToV, let's hammer them with this shit.

email: [email protected]

What I sent:

Dear Namco,

Could you tell me if Tales of Symphonia Dawn of the New World is planned to come out at all in Europe?

And please, explain me why isn't it confirmed by now, seeing that Tales of Vesperia, who sold a lot less (being a main high budget installment no less!) worldwide, both in Japan and US as far as I know (with ToSDotNW selling almost 100k in US in less than 3 months and selling 220k in japan against 160k for ToV)

It is also the sequel to the biggest selling Tales ever worldwide, and to make things worse, it is on a market leading platform, what kind of priority/market sense is this? don't we deserve the game, how can be ToV confirmed and no word on ToSDotNW, in fact with Atari commenting they have no plans whatsoever to do so? why must we even ask for this game!?

Yours sincerely!

PS.: Don't get late publishing the next mainline Tales on the Wii! and make sure you give us a Team Symphonia game next time, seeing we're market leaders and are mostly Team Symphonia fans, seeing wii is the successor of the platform that put tales and team symphonia on the map... with Tales of Symphonia, B-teams and teams other than Team Symphonia don't cut it as serious preferential Namco support! instead, they're scraps (and still, when these "scraps" are selling more worldwide all the more reason to make them available in a timely manner!)

Heh, the more the merrier!

Should have gone for the jugular and mentioned Klonoa and Fragile. Think I'll send them an email later this evening mentioning all 3 titles and see what they have to say. They can't ignore everyone for ever (Well they won't be ignoring me. I'll just keep filling up their inbox until I get a reply. Think Andy in Shawshank Redemption with the whole library bit).

Posted

Good work Pedro, you do know though that unfortunately they are likely to ignore most of your points and give you PR bullshit back :/ something like...

"Dear Pedro,

Thank you for your interest in Tales of Symphonia : Dawn of the New World, we understand your frustrations and concerns regarding the release of this title in Europe however Namco-Bandai have made no announcement yet regarding a release date for European territories.

Please visit http://www.namco-bandai.com for announcements relating to a release and thank you for your patience.

Regards,

Namco-Bandai Robot-Rep."

Sad but true fact, still theres a small chance they might give you a bit of info I guess and it's good that you've gone to the effort of asking. :)

You might want to e-mail Nintendo, since they are the ones who published ToS in Europe. Worth a try, right?
I'd email them if that made a difference, but this is really a Namco matter. (and Atari, seeing they would be the ones publishing it)
