Aisutora Posted April 10, 2007 Posted April 10, 2007 Hi! I'm from Norway and I just visited the US. Resently I got an European Wii console. And during the trip to the us I came across a store that sold the wii remote for only 39$. Back in Norway it costs 500kroner (about 85$). When I got back home I was only afraid it would not work. And that is the case. Does anyone know why it won't work in Europe? Is even the Remote Region locked? Is there anything that can be done to "unlock" it?

flameboy Posted April 10, 2007 Posted April 10, 2007 As far as I know they are all the same, I mean it uses bluetooth which is a universal standard and not in anyway region encoded (as far as I know)
Cube Posted April 10, 2007 Posted April 10, 2007 Home Menu - Remote Settings - Reconnect. Press 1&2 on all remotes and see how that works.
Aisutora Posted April 10, 2007 Author Posted April 10, 2007 I tried to sync it with the red button inside. The four blue lights flashed for a bit before it just turned off. I can't seem to get it to work. On the package it says: "For sale, rental and use only in the USA, Canada, Mexico and Latin America" The only difference I can find on the remotes is to the left from the sync switch. Inside the little hole the number is: >ABS< m8-2 on the European remote and m8-1 on the one I got from US. It might be different because the European one belongs to the Wii. I don't know what it says on European remotes sold separately. Home Menu - Remote Settings - Reconnect. Press 1&2 on all remotes and see how that works. Hold on a sec and I will give it a shot.
conzer16 Posted April 10, 2007 Posted April 10, 2007 Peripherals should not be region locked. Only software is region locked. Try what Cube has said above, it should work. Oh and welcom to NE Edit: Just saw your reply. Try the most elementary stuff; replace the batteries, and switch off teh console from the mains for a few minutes.
Aisutora Posted April 10, 2007 Author Posted April 10, 2007 Thank yo very much Cube. That worked. I'm forever grateful.
DCK Posted April 10, 2007 Posted April 10, 2007 So, let me get this straight Diemetrix, you work in a Norwegian games store, and you sell Wiimotes that in Norway it costs 500kroner (about 85$).How could you
Charlie Posted April 10, 2007 Posted April 10, 2007 By the looks of it, you didn't actually press the sync button next to the memory card slot on the Wii.
Eenuh Posted April 10, 2007 Posted April 10, 2007 Hmmm, maybe I'll buy a wii-mote and nunchuk in the States when I'm there over the summer. If they have any in stock (they didn't have any last winter) and I have enough room in my bag.
ShadowV7 Posted April 10, 2007 Posted April 10, 2007 I'm thinking about doing that aswell,i'm going to the US over the summer aswell and was thinking about getting another 2 Wii-motes,but I might wait for more colours.
Razz Posted April 10, 2007 Posted April 10, 2007 I guess the drought will be over by then so you'd probably be able to pick them up with ease. However, we were all saying how the drought would be over in February...how wrong we all were.

darksnowman Posted April 10, 2007 Posted April 10, 2007 What drought? Dunno. I was gonna stock up on water but the drought is yet to hit these parts.
