mcj metroid Posted February 2, 2007 Posted February 2, 2007 Wrestling fans, rejoice! Head inside to read the good news. Wrestling games have always been an enjoyable experience for gamers. Even on Nintendo consoles, as was evident in the fantastic WWF: No Mercy on the Nintendo 64. Fans have been craving for a new wrestling title to come and satisfy their hunger. Now, the waiting appears to be over. THQ have finally confirmed that they will be bringing some fresh WWE action to both the Wii and DS. In an investor conference call, the publisher said it would be releasing WWE products on Nintendo's latest systems sometime in its next fiscal year, which runs from April 2007 through March 2008. Certainly a step in the right direction. An experience greater than No Mercy? Bah, we can dream, can't we. Although, you never know... Well its about time eh.been waiting for action.they could work really well on wii but i worry about the graphics on the ds.I think the smackdown games are far better than no mercy.
Fierce_LiNk Posted February 2, 2007 Posted February 2, 2007 It's very wishful thinking on my part that we'll even get a game equal to No Mercy. I don't expect this to happen. However, I'm excited to see how it will be controlled. Whether they'll go for unique controls or classic.
pedrocasilva Posted February 2, 2007 Posted February 2, 2007 good, if this team is the same who did Day of Reckoning [WWE Day of Reckoning Wii(3)?], they were already showing to know GC architecture on the second outing of the game; always a good addition:
pedrocasilva Posted February 2, 2007 Posted February 2, 2007 Holy crap that's on GC?Yes ArtX Flipper GPU being put to a use. More images: -> http://media.cube.ign.com/media/734/734926/imgs_1.html
mcj metroid Posted February 2, 2007 Author Posted February 2, 2007 yes the DOR graphics were awesome.Better than any smackdown game on ps2 you'll find and those were in game screens.
Mokong Posted February 2, 2007 Posted February 2, 2007 I just had a thought, might the wiimote be used to create custom moves for your CAW's? At the very least custom taunt movements? Can't wait for this, hope they really work well on the controls and that they get a nice large roster of wrestlers in their, while the DOR games were great i felt the rosters were very limited and could have had more EDIT: Snap, i just realised, thanks to teh SD slot we'll be able to use our own music for our CAW's enterance themes, wohoo
mcj metroid Posted February 2, 2007 Author Posted February 2, 2007 think you will be able to use your mii ?not a chance but still
Charlie Posted February 2, 2007 Posted February 2, 2007 The game "Revenge" on the N64 was fantastic, I didn't even like wrestling and I loved that game. I never actually owned No Mercy, but my friend had it and we played it like everyday. That Perfect Dark and Mario Kart. Good times.
Dante Posted February 3, 2007 Posted February 3, 2007 Meanwhile, THQ CFO Ed Zimmer offered a rundown of how well the company believes the consoles will sell in fiscal 2008, which we've included. "Our unit hardware forecasts in North America for each platform are as follows," Zimmer said. "Xbox 360, 5 to 5.5 million units; Nintendo Wii, 5 to 5.5 million; PS3, 3.5 to 4 million; PlayStation 2, 3.5 to 4 million; DS, 7 to 7.5 million, and PSP 3 to 3.5 million. In Europe and the other PAL territories our forecast for each platform are as follows. Xbox 360, 2.5 to 3 million; Nintendo Wii, 3.5 to 4 million; PS3, 3.5 to 4 million; PlayStation 2, 2.5 to 3 million; DS, 5.5 to 6 million; and PSP, 2.5 to 3 million. On a worldwide basis we expect minimal shipments of Xbox, GameCube, and GBA." IGN

LukeLee Posted February 3, 2007 Posted February 3, 2007 i think it was exact same game as no mercy with wcw characters.Same team i think. same control system from AKI, but No Mercy had a good selection of match types, a great story mode and a huge roster of wrestlers.
killthenet Posted February 4, 2007 Posted February 4, 2007 I think they could do something really interesting with the control, if they pull that off and give us an expanded version of the "No Mercy" story mode then the franchise could be on the up again.
Maverick Posted February 4, 2007 Posted February 4, 2007 no mercy/aki wresting engine >>> Whatever crap thq are gonna make for the wii. Don't get me wrong it has potential but i am sure the first installment is going to be nothing short of a cash in.
Haden Posted February 4, 2007 Posted February 4, 2007 no mercy/aki wresting engine >>> Whatever crap thq are gonna make for the wii. Don't get me wrong it has potential but i am sure the first installment is going to be nothing short of a cash in. Surely they wouldnt just shovel out a piece of crap for a nintendo system. gaining a monopoly and making us all think of no mercy praying it would be just the same. Oh wait
djamb3 Posted February 4, 2007 Posted February 4, 2007 DOR was a lot better than those smackdown! games. But I'd say you to wait for TNA! impact. I believe we're gonna be surprised
mcj metroid Posted February 4, 2007 Author Posted February 4, 2007 DOR was a lot better than those smackdown! games. you have to be taken the piss.im not going to even respond to that one thq are maing fantastic wwe games time to get over it.wx8 is a 5 year old game. But I'd say you to wait for TNA! impact. I believe we're gonna be surprised yeah you're right it probably will be shit
Teppo Holmqvist Posted February 4, 2007 Posted February 4, 2007 you have to be taken the piss.im not going to even respond to that one DoR was better as game, poorer as a fan product.

Who says it needs to be a wrestling game, can any of you remember that god awful WWE Racing game - Crush hour I think it was called
djamb3 Posted February 4, 2007 Posted February 4, 2007 DoR was better as game, poorer as a fan product. He's totally right. If they made Smackdown with gameplay like in DOR, than it would be great. Oh and TNA is not going to be shit. you'll see
mcj metroid Posted February 4, 2007 Author Posted February 4, 2007 DoR was better as game, poorer as a fan product. how?Ok i have only played the first DOF and i could be wrong but smackdown vs raw was out the same year for ps2.The smackdown games have more wrestlers, more matches,it controls better and doesnt take a million years to get up. Some matches in DOR was ridicoulous requiring about 10 special moves only for your oppenent to get back up straight away. Not a chance... He's totally right. If they made Smackdown with gameplay like in DOR, than it would be great. Oh and TNA is not going to be shit. you'll see im missing something here.DOR added some nice things like having your characters face as an avator,a more detailed entrance creation, the ability to break weapons and the ability to kick people out of any moce including a submission.and it had better graphics than any of the smackdown games Now these are nice but the problems i have listed above are too much
khilafah Posted February 5, 2007 Posted February 5, 2007 I will not be rejoicing till the day Fire Pro Wrestling or Virtual Pro Wrestling is announced for the Wii/DS? Fire Pro is >>>>> then any WWE game. WWE games do not interest me at all! Oh and the TNA game is developed by the same people who developed Backyard Wrestling! The TNA game is gonna suck big time!
Maverick Posted February 6, 2007 Posted February 6, 2007 DOR was a lot better than those smackdown! games. Are you crazy? i really dont like the smackdown games too much simply because it just doesn't feel right when you do a sumission and you get straight back up and loading always takes so long. But in saying that dukes or whoever develop the smackdown vs raw gaves have vastly improved the engine and are on a far superior level compared to any wrestling game the amount of interaction you can do is pretty cool.
