Ninty 182 Posted November 20, 2007 Author Posted November 20, 2007 Fairytale Of New York It was Christmas eve babe In the drunk tank An old man said to me, "won't see another one" And then he sang a song, 'The rare old mountain dew' I turned my face away And dreamed about you Got on a lucky one Came in eighteen to one I've got a feeling This years for me and you So happy christmas I love you baby I can see a better time When all our dreams come true They've got cars big as bars They've got rivers of gold But the wind goes right through you It's no place for the old When you first took my hand On a cold Christmas eve You promised me Broadway was waiting for me You were handsome You were pretty Queen of New York City When the band finished playing They howled out for more. Sinatra was swinging, All the drunks they were singing We kissed on a corner Then danced through the night. The boys of the NYPD choir Were singing 'Galway Bay' And the bells were ringing out For Christmas Day You're a bum You're a punk You're an old slut on junk Lying there almost dead on a drip in that bed You scumbag, you maggot You cheap lousy faggot Happy Christmas your arse I pray God its our last The boys of the NYPD choir Were singing 'Galway Bay' And the bells were ringing out For Christmas Day I could have been someone Well so could anyone You took my dreams from me When I first found you I kept them with me babe I put them with my own Can't make it all alone I've built my dreams around you The boys of the NYPD choir Were singing 'Galway Bay' And the bells were ringing out For Christmas Day The Pogues & Kirsty MacColl
Slaggis Posted November 20, 2007 Posted November 20, 2007 I'll sing it one last time for you Then we really have to go You've been the only thing that's right In all I've done And I can barely look at you But every single time I do I know we'll make it anywhere Away from here Light up, light up As if you have a choice Even if you cannot hear my voice I'll be right beside you dear Louder louder And we'll run for our lives I can hardly speak I understand Why you can't raise your voice to say To think I might not see those eyes Makes it so hard not to cry And as we say our long goodbye I nearly do Light up... Slower slower We don't have time for that All I want is to find an easier way To get out of our little heads Have heart my dear We're bound to be afraid Even if it's just for a few days Making up for all this mess
Roostophe Posted November 23, 2007 Posted November 23, 2007 Bloc Party - The Prayer Lord, give me grace And dancing feet And the power to impress Lord, give me grace And dancing feet Let me outshine the moon Is it so wrong to crave recognition? Ninty 182 Posted November 26, 2007 Author Posted November 26, 2007 I'm gonna post the last 3 songs from Demon Days as they all sort of follow onto each other: Fire Coming Out Of The Monkey's Head Once upon a time at the foot of a great mountain, There was a town where the people known as Happyfolk lived. Their very existence a mystery to the rest of the world, Obscured as it was by grey clouds. Here they played out their peaceful lives, Innocent of the litany of excess and violence That was growing in the world below. To live in harmony with the spirit of the mountain called Monkey was enough. Then one day Strangefolk arrived in the town. They came in camouflage, hidden behind dark glasses, But no one noticed them: they only saw shadows. You see, without the Truth of the Eyes, the Happyfolk were blind. Falling out of aeroplanes and hiding out in holes, Waiting for the sunset to come, people goin' home. Jump out from behind them and shoot them in the head, Now everybody's dancing the dance of the dead, The dance of the dead, the dance of the dead. In time, Strangefolk found their way into the high reaches of the mountain, And it was there that they found the Caves of Unimaginable Sincerity and Giving. By chance, they stumbled upon the Place Where All Good Souls Come to Rest. The Strangefolk, they coveted the jewels in these caves above all things, And soon they began to mine the mountain, its rich seam fueling the chaos of their own world. Meanwhile, down in the town, the Happyfolk slept restlessly, Their dreams invaded by shadowy figures digging away at their souls. Every day, people would wake and stare at the mountain. Why was it bringing darkness into their lives? And as the Strangefolk mined deeper and deeper into the mountain, Holes began to appear, bringing with them a cold and bitter wind that chilled the very soul of them up. For the first time, the Happyfolk felt fearful for they knew that soon the Monkey would soon stir from its deep sleep. And then came a sound. Distant first, it grew into castrophany so immense it could be heard far away in space. There were no screams. There was no time. The mountain called Monkey had spoken. There was only fire. And then, nothing. O little town in U.S.A, your time has come to see There's nothing you believe you want But where were you when it all came down on me? Did you call me now? Don't Get Lost In Heaven Got off a plane to the countryside, I drove to the mountain and holding the ground There was crack on the corner and someone dead, and fire coming out of the monkey's head Don't get lost in heaven They got locks on the gate Don't go over the edge you'll make a big mistake Put me in a cab to suburbia I just took a line but I wasn't with you There was more of it there, when I got back home But you had left me,you don't know my soul... You're a whole bad mistake, yeah, you're a whole one... Don't get lost in heaven They got locks on the gate Don't go over the edge you'll make a big mistake Demon Days In demon days, it's cold inside You don't get nobody, people sigh It's so bad, lasting far, but love yourself Hiding in a hole in there All the glasses are too big Bring it back, got to hold it back To let you do that yet you don't want me back Before it fall down, falling down falling down Falling out to go far from the sun Well these demon days are so cold inside It's so hard to live, and so to survive You can't even trust the air you breathe Cause Mother Earth has a soul to leave When lies become reality You love yourself because it's easy Pick yourself up it's a brand new day So turn yourself round Don't burn yourself, turn yourself Turn yourself around to the sun To the sun, to the sun... To the sun, to the sun... Gorillaz
Daft Posted November 27, 2007 Posted November 27, 2007 Phoenix Too Young Baby when I saw you turning at the end of the street I knew a time was gone and it took me like ages Just to understand that I was afraid to be a simple guy I tried my best to smile but deep inside my heart I felt it was shouting like a crowd dancing I guess I couldn't live without the things that made my life what it is Can't you hear it calling oh yeah Everybody's dancin' oh yeah Tonight everything is over I feel too young I can't lie on my bed without thinking I was wrong But when this feeling calls this world becomes another Nighttime won't hold me in your arms again I got a very good friend who says he can't believe the love I give Is not enough to end your fears I guess I couldn't live without the things that made my life what it is Can't you hear it calling oh yeah Everybody's shakin' oh yeah Tonight everything is over I feel too young Oh rainfalls and hard times coming they won't leave me tonight I wish I knew what I was doing Just do let this spirit survive Can't you hear me calling oh yeah I guess I couldn't live without the things that made my life what it is Can't you hear me calling oh yeah Everybody's dancing oh yeah Tonight everything is over I feel too young... An awesome band that is completely over looked. Laurent Brancowitz, one of the members, was actually part of Darlin' with Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo, who eventually became Daft Punk. Phoenix started as the backing band for a remix of Air's "Kelly Watch the Stars" single. You might of heard them featured in Lost in Translation.
Roostophe Posted November 27, 2007 Posted November 27, 2007 Jeff Buckley - Morning Theft Time takes care of the wound, so I can believe. You had so much to give, you thought I couldn't see. Gifts for boot heels to crush, promises deceived I had to send it away to bring us back again. Your eyes and body brighten silent waters, deep. Your precious daughter in the other room, asleep. A kiss "Goodnight" from every stranger that I meet. I had to send it away to bring us back again. Morning theft, unpretender left, ungrateful. True Self is what brought you here, to me. A place where we can accept this love. Friendship battered down by useless history, Unexamined failure. What am I still to you? Some thief who stole from you? Or some fool drama queen whose chances were few? That brings us to who we need, a place where we can save A heart that beats as both siphon and reservoir. You're a woman, I'm a calf. You're a window, I'm a knife. We come together making chance into starlight. Meet me tomorrow night, or any day you want. I have no right to wonder just how, or when. And though the meaning fits, there's no relief in this. I miss my beautiful friend. I had to send it away to bring her back again. This song is absolutely fantastic. Perhaps Jeff's best song. I love it so much.
Guest bluey Posted November 27, 2007 Posted November 27, 2007 Nizlopi - clear (you might remember this band released one of those novelty christmas records a few years ago... i heard their album playing in HMV before they had to take it off because the song had swearing in it, and really liked their "proper" music... "clear" is the B-side from the single) (one, two, three, four) wow I'm naked with you, in this third story oxford, wow I'm shaking with you, huge feelings, huge feelings, wow you feel them too, but in a different way than i do, yeah im all girled up bout you, little in love too, little in love ~ but we didnt get it clear, no we didnt get it clear, (hmmmmmnnnn) 'cause I need someone to, really give myself up to, and you want it too, our hearts are open but, are rarely spoken to by anyone, that language frightens them, woo! And your not made of iron, in fact your more scared than I am, in fact you're more scared than me, and you got less power than men, cause men have driven you crazy, and we never get it clear, no we never get it clear cause I need some one to, really give myself up to, and you want it too, our hearts are open but, are rarely spoken to by anyone, that language frightens them, cause though I miss you, when I kiss you, we rarely let go, and I want to go, off to that feeling, off to the ceiling, whats this hour in, where we only just begin? What'd you do when you're blown apart, thrown apart? Love is hard like Napoleon Bonaparte, you loose and the blues speak through you, who can deny a voice that is so true? I'm amazed by you darling, Even though you treat me like joseph Stalin, I'm gonna train my heart like a shoalin, Monk, that'll never throw the towel in, Cause I need someone to, Really give myself up to And you want it too, our hearts are open but are rarely spoken to by anyone That language frightens them So clear your room out clear your mind out out clear your eyes out lets get it clear now clear your soul out lets get it clear now you pour your heart out you pour your heart out, to me oh EDIT: ever-so exciting update: after posting this, i started looking through youtube for a decent video of "clear", and found a few videos of live shows.. i thought "ooh it'd be good to see them live, i wonder if they're playing anywhere..?" and to my surprise they're playing their "last gig for ages" right down the road from me next week!!! so... yay! looking forward to it XD
Ninty 182 Posted December 2, 2007 Author Posted December 2, 2007 Writer in the Sun The days of wine and roses are distant days for me. I dream of the last and the next affair and of girls I'll never see. And here I sit, the retired writer in the sun, The retired writer in the sun and I'm blue, The retired writer in the sun. Tonight I trod in the starlight, I excused myself with a grin. I ponder the moon in a silver spoon and the little one 'live within. And here I sit, the retired writer in the sun, The retired writer in the sun. The magazine girl poses on my glossy paper aeroplane Too many years I spent in the City playing with Mr. Loss and Gain. And here I sit, the retired writer in the sun, The retired writer in the sun and I'm blue, The retired writer in the sun. I bathe in the sun of the morning, lemon circles swim in the tea Fishing for time with a wishing line and throwing it back in the sea. And here I sit, the retired writer in the sun, The retired writer in the sun and I'm blue, The retired writer in the sun Donovan

No one knows the hard times I went through If happiness came I miss the call The stormy days ain't over I've tried and lost know I think that I pay the cost Now I've watched all my castles fall They were made of dust, after all Someday all this mess will make me laugh I can't wait, I can't wait, I can't wait... I really like 'Rally' by them, never got round to listening to anymore. Today is not very musicey. I still have "Kill Monsters In The Rain" on loop in my brain, and She Falls Asleep by McFly sparked a lightbulb moment. So I guess those lyrics would be the lyrics of the day.
MoogleViper Posted December 5, 2007 Posted December 5, 2007 Smokers Outside The Hospital Doors - Editors Pull the blindfold down So your eyes can't see Now run as fast as you can Through this field of trees Say goodbye to everyone you have ever known You are not gonna see them ever again I can't shake this feeling I've got My dirty hands Have I been in the wars? The saddest thing that I'd ever seen Were smokers outside the hospital doors Someone turn me around Can I start this again? How can we wear our smiles With our mouths wired shut 'Cause you stopped us from singing I can't shake this feeling I've got My dirty hands Have I been in the wars? The saddest thing that I'd ever seen Were smokers outside the hospital doors Someone turn me around Can I start this again? Now someone turn us around Can we start this again? We've all been changed from what we were Our broken hearts left smashed on the floor I can't believe you if I can't hear you I can't believe you if I can't hear you We've all been changed from what we were Our broken hearts smashed on the floor We've all been changed from what we were Our broken hearts smashed on the floor Someone turn me around Can I start this again? Now someone turn us around Can we start this again?

I said, suckin' too hard on your lollipop, oh love's gonna get you down, I said, suckin' too hard on your lollipop, oh love's gonna get you down. Ninty 182 Posted January 16, 2008 Author Posted January 16, 2008 Until It's Time To Go You're not a dream, you're not an angel, you're a man; I'm not a queen, I'm a woman, take my hand; We'll make a space in the lives that we planned, And there we'll stay until it's time for you to go. Yes we're different, worlds apart,we're not the same, We laughed and played at the start, like in a game, You could have stayed outside my heart but in you came, And here you'll stay until it's time to go. Don't ask me me why Don't ask how Don't ask forever Love me now This love of mine had no beginning, it has no end; I was an oak, now I'm a willow; now I can bend; And though I'll never in my life see you again, still i'll stay until it's time for you to go. Don't ask why of me Don't ask how of me Don't ask forever of me Love me now You're not a dream, you're not an angel; you're a man; I'm not a queen, I'm a woman, take my hand; We'll make a space in the lives that we planned, And there we'll stay until it's time for you to go. Ooh, can't touch the bottom In too deep, yeah...uh huh, can't touch the bottom In too deep... Ohhh...Ohhh... Ow... On the edge of a Christmas clean love Young virgin from heaven...visiting Hell To the man above her, she just ain't nothin' And she doesn't like the view She doesn't like the view (2x) But he sinks himself deep Oh, can't touch the bottom In too deep, yeah...oh, can't touch the bottom Can't touch the bottom Deep, yeah... Oh, yeah, the bottom, yeah... (6x) Ohh... Radiohead - Karma Police Karma Police Arrest this man He talks in mouths He buzzes like a fridge He's like a detuned radio Karma Police Arrest this girl Her Hitler hairdo Is making me feel ill And we have crashed her party This is what you'll get This is what you'll get This is what you'll get When you mess with us Karma Police I've given all I can It's not enough I've given all I can But we're still on the payroll This is what you'll get This is what you'll get This is what you'll get When you mess with us For a minute there I lost myself I lost myself Phew, for a minute there I lost myself I lost myself For a minute there I lost myself I lost myself Phew, for a minute there I lost myself I lost myself Bush - Warm Machine Not really that big a fan of the band Bush buy I love this song and a few others I memorize the basics Making strange faces There's a thousand miles to go Without blinking Gravitate spacewards Find a home for the head From my basement No darkness ever left This is the night This is the sound Here comes the warm machine Such a warm machine Some days are playful Making play faces But we will not let it through The darkness and the sense Or being born to lose This is the night This is the sound Her comes the warm machine Such a warm machine This is the life This is the sound Here comes a warm machine Such a warm machine If I never know we can only feel I'll take the help I'll take a slice Warm alright now Cos I feel alright I memorize the basics, basics, basics This is the night This is the sound Here comes the warm machine Such a warm machine Such a warm machine Such a warm machine, machine, machine…

Well Abe said "where d'ya want this killin' done?" God said "out on highway 61" Well Georgia Sam he had a bloody nose Welfare department wouldnt give him no clothes They asked poor howard where can I go Howard said "theres only one place I know" Sam said "tell me quick man I got to run" Oh howard just pointed with his gun And said "that way down highway 61" Well Mack The Finger said to Louie the King "I got 40 Red, White & Blue shoestrings And a thousand telephones that don't even ring. Do you know where I can get rid of these things?" And Louie the King said "let me think for a minute son" Then he said "yes, I think it can be easily done Just take everything down to highway 61" Now the 5th daughter on the 12th night Told the first father that things weren't right "my complexion", she says, "is much too white" He said "come here and step into the light" He said "hmm you're right let me tell the 2nd mother this has been done" But the 2nd mother was with the 7th son And they were both out on highway 61 Now the Roving Gambler he was very bored Trying to create a next world war He found a promoter who nearly fell off the floor He said "I never engaged in this kind of thing before, But yes, i think it can be very easily done We'll just put some bleachers out in the sun And have it on highway 61" Bob Dylan

McMad Posted January 31, 2008 Posted January 31, 2008 Radiohead - No Suprises A heart that's full up like a landfill, a job that slowly kills you, bruises that won't heal. You look so tired-unhappy, bring down the government, they don't, they don't speak for us. I'll take a quiet life, a handshake of carbon monoxide, with no alarms and no surprises, no alarms and no surprises, no alarms and no surprises, no alarms and no surprises, Silent silent. This is my final fit, my final bellyache, with no alarms and no surprises, no alarms and no surprises, no alarms and no surprises please. Such a pretty house and such a pretty garden. No alarms and no surprises (get me outta here), no alarms and no surprises (get me outta here), no alarms and no surprises, please.
Slaggis Posted January 31, 2008 Posted January 31, 2008 I love these lyrics! Drive fast, don't crash, make your money, make it last Hang tight, kick back, prepare yourself for the attack- Buy low, sell high, take your pills, tell your lies Fake your tan, wear a tie Go to the gym you'll never die! And that's the way to go! And that's the way to go! to go! Fake it baby - They won't even know! You can make it Cos everybody knows that that's the way to go Tune in, drop out, raise your voice, never shout Find your true love on the couch, this is what it's all about Change your face, keep your name, keep it real don't play the game Don't you know they're all the same ? don't you know they're all the same? And that's the way to go! And that's the way to go! to go! Fake it baby - They won't even know! You can make it Cos everybody knows that that's the way to go Dig deep, fly low, celebrate a tv show Raise the stakes, drop the pressure, happiness you'll never measure Bite your tongue, pay the man, time to start your five year plan Holiday in Vietnam, then blow a kiss to Uncle Sam. And that's the way to go! And that's the way to go! to go! Fake it baby - They won't even know! You can make it Cos everybody knows that that's the way to go Buy low, sell high, take your pills, tell your lies Fake your tan, wear a tie Go to the gym you'll never die!
