Its neat but I don't see how they overcome some technical hurdles. I would prefer real 3D, like stuff floating around in the room and there's been some real pushes in that direction.
Analogue sound is "purer" but all the information contained in it isn't needed, MP3 compression algorithms has all the tricks needed to keep sounding the same.
As to my opinion, even with my slow ass 4Mb internet, I can stream HD content without problems, so as internet becomes more wildly available and faster, even HD 3D content won't be a problem and future media use will be residual.
