  1. I need to get myself one of those capture kits eventually. They're pretty awesome! Anywho, here's my boring setup... All my system apps like Letterbox and 3DS Sound are kept on the main screen... 1 = DSiWare 2 = NES VC 3 = GB/GBC VC 4 = GBA VC 5 = 3DS Download Software (downloaded retail games are kept in there too) 6 = Demos 7 = Game Gear 8 = Downloaded Videos and the Health & Safety app All my games are stored in the order in which I downloaded them. Speaking of which, my folder for 3DS Download Software is almost full, so I'm gonna need to make another one for that soon
  2. It does unfortunately. You should back up your games on a PC before deleting them from your SD Card.
  3. True, a lot of people do have a fondness the old and a refusal to accept the new, but its still a lazy retort to those who don't like the direction that something has taken in modern times. The reason why I don't like games like Bioshock Infinite, Tomb Raider or Uncharted is not because I'm looking at games like Joe & Mac, Castlevania or Super Mario World (which I just played through again a few days ago) with rose-tinted glasses, it's because those 3 modern games have shitty or almost non-existent gameplay! There are lots of good modern games, like the ones I mentioned before. It's not a matter of a black and white "modern" vs "retro" dichotomy, but rather it's a newly emergent trend that I hate with a passion. "AAA" movie games and F2P games are equally damaging cancers that need to be either wiped from the industry or exorcised entirely into their own separate categories; F2P games should be treated like gambling machines (and regulated as such) and narrative driven experiences should be called interactive movies and not games. Am I so crazy that I value gameplay first and foremost in a "game"? You don't need to be Cranky Kong to recognize the difference between the new Tomb Raider and its predecessors...
  4. Been playing this for a bit now. I really like it! It's much more fun than the DS MvsDK games The puzzles are more interesting, the levels are nice and short (certainly nowhere near as overwhelming as the DS games) and there's plenty of gameplay variety on offer with the 4 main modes of play. The minigames are just throwaways, but they're decent little distractions for when you want to take a break from the main modes and like the main game, they're all very nice and polished. Yeah it's a ripoff of Pipe Mania, but it's a very good ripoff of Pipe Mania with plenty of interesting twists of its own! (and certainly much more fun than the Lemmings clones on DS!) Recommended to anyone who likes a good cerebral workout
  5. Bioshock 1 offered far more freedom and exploration than BI and far more variety in terms of combat (at least until the halfway point, where it itself runs out of steam and then goes onto autopilot, until that poorly designed and phoned in ending). I'm not asking for them to make an open world game, I just ask for more than endless and effectively identical kill rooms. It's not impossible to offer that in a linear game. The nostalgia excuse is such a cop-out. What about those of use who have only recently played retro games for the first time recently? I played Castlevania Rondo of Blood for the first time about 2.5 years ago and I consider it to be one of the finest 2D platformers I've ever played; similarly, I played Chrono Trigger for the first time back in 2006 and it became my favourite RPG of all time, despite playing much more modern RPGs before it. Not only that, but there still great games with truly great gameplay coming out in modern times (Nintendo Land, Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate, Metal Gear Rising and Xenoblade - which is joint in first place with Chrono Trigger as the best RPG of all time for me), so it's not a matter of nostalgia defining my preference. This however is very true. There was a lot of shit released back in the "golden age" and there's a load of shit coming out now; the problem being that there are less good games with actual good gameplay being released by the traditional side of the industry in general nowerdays. I can only hope that this gen will see the end of "AAA" gaming as we know it and that indies and the large game developers who still actually care about the actual gameplay of their games (like Nintendo and Platinum) will rise from the ashes of the traditional industry
  6. Done it on 1999 Mode (why they decided to hide it behind a Konami Code, I have no idea) What's so special about the gameplay itself? Strip away the story/characters, the world design and pretty visuals and it's your standard corridor shooter with a basic "magic" system that (much like the original Bioshock) pretty much devolves into repetitive stun & hit combat (with a few extra vigors that allow you to make enemies into allies - not much different from the original game). There is basically no exploration involved as the game funnels you down the story corridor, with the only real gameplay in place consisting of constant "kill rooms" involving the same groups of enemies over and over again (with a few very basic and uninteresting "bosses" spattered around here and there). 1999 mode at least makes death a bit more meaningful, but the game clearly wasn't designed around this difficulty as it's effectively designed as a narrative experience first and foremost, with the basic shooter gameplay just getting in the way of the storytelling.
  7. Fixed that for you. Gameplay was clearly not Irrational's focus when making BI. It speaks volumes when you go and look at any review or thread on any gaming messageboard and take note of how most of the praise/conversation revolves around the world building/characters/narrative/cognitive dissonance of violence, rather than the actual (and rather mundane) corridor shooter gameplay. The same can be said for most other major "AAA" games...
  8. I'd be down for it! Nobody does action better than him!
  9. Nintendo just got a game rated by the OFLC called "The Mysterious Murasame Castle". Could Nazo no Murasame Jō finally be getting a western release on the VC after over 2 decades of being Japan only!? (For those wondering, Nazo no Murasame Jō is the game that the Takamaru's Ninja Castle Nintendo Land attraction is based on.) You're probably also familiar with its main theme (which appeared in SSBB) Nintendo gearing up for a new Smash Bros character? Either way it's great news! I've always wanted to play this game!
  10. Shame that the animations weren't in place yet, so we can't see exactly how the scene was planned. That being said, it looks like the final scene ended up better than how it would've otherwise have been (Pikachu's appearance seems a bit out of place here and the final one just feels as if it is paced better).
  11. Better hope that Konami pulls its finger out with PES then...
  12. It comes with the territory Edit: HOLY COW! That makes the Circle Pad Pro look beautiful by comparison!
  13. That quote is such unadulterated bullshit. It can't run Frostbite 2, but PS360 can? Piss off EA simply didn't want it to happen. End of. They are... as far as the old license went. However, they just signed a new licensing agreement today with FIFA that runs till 2020, so who knows what sneaky get-out clauses they've managed to weave into that contract this time...
  14. That thing was such a cocktease! They go out of their way to make a TCG engine for the DS, but don't end up doing anything with it other than making a simple tutorial for how to play the Pokemon TCG! Come on Nintendo! Give us a proper PKMN TCG RPG for 3DS! For godsake, you can make them compatible with real TCG cards via AR! (And hell! You now have all of the original game's developers directly under your wing at NDCube! MAKE IT HAPPEN ALREADY!!)
  15. Fear not, M2 (Sonic Mega Collection, SEGA AGES, SEGA Virtual Console games, Capcom Arcade Cabinet) is at the helm here. Nothing to worry about
  16. Yup. GBAsp felt like it came from the future when it first came out! It's also still the best way of playing GBA games (assuming that you have the US only backlit model) as it has the best quality screen - along with full multiplayer support and GCN connectivity. Agreed. Love the turntable look of the original model! (The fact that it offers better sound quality as well just proves that it was meant to give off a turntable vibe ) Hey! It's my GBC! (still have it BTW ) Ahh, remember when consoles used to actually come in lots of different colours? (that weren't just obscure special editions!) The light blue and orange ones especially =
  17. Yeah, but I wanted Sonic 3 & Knuckles the most The bonus stages in 2 & 3 would've been HAMAZING in 3D! I hope they still do them at some point... but I wouldn't want them to all be done straight away, clogging up the schedule. Let us get the likes of Outrun, Ristar and Gunstar Heroes in 3D first!
  18. http://archives.sega.jp/3d/sonic/ Nice to see that it's not just the early SEGA games that are getting the 3D Classics treatment! (NOW HURRY UP AND RELEASE THESE IN THE WEST SEGA!!!)
  19. I always wanted a Famicom GB Micro Such a bizarre decision to release that model here instead of a NES variant, but I don't care! It looks gorgeous! GBAsp was a real revelation, in terms of aesthetics, when it first came out. Such a huge shift in terms of design philosophy for Nintendo (and handhelds in general) and a design that was so good that its clamshell design continues to live on till this very day! Granted, it also marked the end of the "toy" look that consoles had (which is sad in of itself) but it's still a great looking device! Oh and I still think that the original "fat" PS2 still looks like a nasty portable radiator. (PS2 Slim is a looker though, as is the PSone. Shame that the PS3 slim models didn't follow that same trend though - they both look ugly as sin! In fact that console got uglier as time went on!! )
  20. I love the EU/JPN SNES It's just so homely and smooth. Not quite sleek, but totally swish! There's lots of other consoles I really like aesthetically like the GameCube, N64, Mega Drive, NES and the Dreamcast (I also really like the Wii, but for very different reasons), but the EU SNES remains my favourite. Back when consoles LOOKED like consoles and not generic entertainment/aspirational devices! Consoles that were just plain fun to look at, that looked like they were fun to play! (Yeah, the Wii was a real looker and a gorgeous device in of itself, but it doesn't have that same "consoley" feel that defined Nintendo's past machines)
  21. A shame, but probably the right decision. M&DK would no doubt steal all of the spotlight for itself if it came out on the same day as Damrey (and I'm sure that PKMN Mystery Dungeon next week is not gonna be competing for the same audience for the most part, so it shouldn't have much of an effect on Damrey, if at all). A week's wait is not a big deal.
  22. Oh wow! Bloody hell, how did I forget about Flipnote Studio 3D!? That's probably my number 1! Edit: A wild Denpa Men 2 trailer approaches! That English synthesis is much better than what Nintendo has used before with Animal Crossing! I wonder... Tomodachi Collection 2!?
  23. It is. They changed that in the EU version (No I don't know why either )
  24. Presenting Battlefieldfront from EA and DICE! Pay $10 to remove JarJar from the game. Pay $20 to remove ads for SW Episode 7, Finding Dory and Sims 4. Pay $30 to buy a purple lightsaber.
  25. http://ea.newshq.businesswire.com/press-release/company-news/walt-disney-company-and-ea-announce-multi-year-star-wars-games-agreement Whelp! So much for us getting Star Wars games on Wii U! (Or good Star Wars games in general) (Rushes to the Wii Shop Channel and Steam before EA convince Disney to have the Super Star Wars games removed from the Wii VC and the classic SW games removed from Steam)
