I get the feeling that it's fake. While the game concept sounds realistic enough (and not like something you'd typically expect from a faker), do you really think that Nintendo would just allow a stand like that to be left uncovered? They always cover up everything while they're setting up the booth; in fact the only time we've ever had a booth leak from Nintendo was NSMB Wii and that was only because the cover they used on the game's booth banners happened to be semi transparent (and caught in front of an unfortunately placed spotlight at the time... Ever since they have generally shifted towards using backlit displays and generically designed console stands, probably to stop that from happening again). Also it doesn't fit with any of the other banners at all. It looks completely out of place in that shot. Or if those banners were looking to promote stuff like Smash Bros or even a possible new Kirby or Animal Crossing game, do you really think that they would be shoved into a corner behind Mario Maker like that? It doesn't make sense to hide those games like this (and it's suspicious in of itself that Mario Maker just so happens to be the focus of this shot in front of everything else here...) And if this is real and the booth pieces were left uncovered, why is this the only picture we've seen of their booth? Why this game in particular? Why not any closer shots? Why no shots of anything else? Cause I'm sure that a brand new Zelda game would have nothing of interest scattered around the booth at all... It's such an amateurish mistake in general. I find it hard to believe that they'd start making them now...

Shit... that's not good... Poor guy is killing himself running operations at both NCL and NOA... Explains why we haven't had any Iwata Asks interviews lately either...

The saving animation... YES!!! just... YES!!!! Not gotten far, but it's totally bonkers so far So many moments that just begged to be Miiversed... (too bad that the community isn't up till Friday...) Edit: OH MY GOD THE MII RAP SONGS!!! BWAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!! Edit 2: Alright, so my sister and Dr Robotnik started falling in love, then I turned her into a kid and made Robotnik feel like a pedophile and run off, then I bought a swing for my cousin and pushed him on it in his room, then I ate a plate of jelly (including the plate itself!) and became a heavy metal star, then I won an epic word association tournament and later taught Reggie how to sneeze... ... Yeah I have absolutely no clue what this game is about but it is simply brilliant!

What's the best Nintendo controller ever made?
Dcubed replied to Retro_Link's topic in General Gaming Discussion
Why is the Gamecube controller a separate option from the Wavebird? Who would ever pick the wired version over the GLORIOUS wireless edition!? What MONSTER would do that? But it doesn't really matter because the real answer is the Wii Remote & Nunchuck. It's the most comfortable, the most versatile and it opens up so many new gameplay possibilities that can't be done with any other controller. No brainer Gamepad is second. It hasn't had time to bring about lots of new types of games yet (like how Nintendo Land showed what it could do), so that could change, but for now I'll stick with the Wiimote and Chuck as the winner so far -
Well that's true. But only if it's his Pigeon Milk blend

So Platinum it is then (not to mention Heart Gold/Soul Silver, Black & White 1 & 2, Pokemon Ranger 1-3, Pokemon Mystery Dungeon 1 & 2, Pokemon Typing...)

Oh no you don't NOE... Don't you bloody dare!

Cheers. Disappointing, but not unexpected considering that this is an unfinished "ambassador" release here. I would hope that they would include it in the final release, considering that there are no technological barriers whatsoever here. After all, the Wii U actually already supports DS connectivity and DS Download Play in Wii Mode, so the functionality is already there inside the hardware; they just need to actually make use of it! Hopefully the guys on the Japanese Miiverse community are making as much noise about it as I am. We all want to see the DS Pokemon games being able to get re-released on the VC now don't we
-
No. They never gave a timeframe. I was thinking that it would be another year long wait, like it was with the GBA VC...

Theatrhythm: Final Fantasy Curtain Call (3DS)
Dcubed replied to Hero-of-Time's topic in Nintendo Gaming
Wow! That CE sucks balls. A couple of cards and a sampler OST with a measely 5 tracks!? LAAAMMMEEE September 19 is fine by me though -
Hey @Serebii You have a JPN Wii U don't you? Can you check and see if Download Play is supported in this version of Brain Training with a physical DS or 3DS (doing DS Download Play of course). It could be that is something coming at a later date, but still... if you would please try it
-
Woah! The fuck!? I wasn't expecting DS VC games till next year!!! So this seems like a 3DS Ambassador style release in order to encourage people to update their Wii U. It's lacking all the features you would expect from the VC (save states, button mapping, screen flipping etc) and they're going to be added later on. (From the way they put it, it sounds like the DS VC will be hitting proper later this year, instead of 2015 though ) Here's hoping that HD rendering is one of those future features!

The only thing that concerns me is the idea that there aren't a lot of possible events for Miis to participate in or possible ways for them to interact. I wouldn't be happy if I end up seeing them doing the same things over and over again. The sponteneity and surprise is half the point of this game after all...

More like you know you're gonna be playing my copy anyway
-
That requirement to pay two play coins to play online each time is pretty clever. It encourages people to buy the premium version, but it's not too intrusive and feels like a natural extension of the 3DS' functionality. Anywho, I think the release of ver 2.0 is a perfect hallmark for me to finally get stuck into this game, now that I can finally break my duck on Wii U and 3DS games
-
Actually it won't because it is being handled via the Gamepad's own internal hardware itself. What is basically happening is that the Gamepad itself is keeping a record of your most recent software that you've used and after you select the game/app you want to open and the user Mii, it sends a signal to the Wii U to tell it to turn on and bypass the WaraWara Plaza and Wii U Menu loading and instead just go straight into the chosen game. People forget that the Gamepad itself does actually contain a low power ARM CPU of its own... It's just that Nintendo are actually finally making use of it with the Quick Start menu for something other than decoding the Wii U video stream, the TV remote functions or transmitting button/touch/motion/NFC etc inputs to the console Yeah it's crazy! It's almost like the entire industry is going on vacation till next year. 2014 is basically getting delayed till 2015 across the board!
-
It did this stuff in standby anyway. The test was conducted earlier this year and it has been able to download and install game updates ever since the first major system update back in early 2013 (what this new update does is that it allows the Wii U to install System Updates for you - before it would just download them and wait for you to tell it to install it, now it does it for you) So yeah, it consumes just 0.2 watts even when downloading and installing updates. Crazy! See while I personally try and ensure that things that don't need constant standby power get turned off at the plug, my living room setup requires that everything need be on standby at all times because I use a Logitech Harmony remote and my setup would be completely broken if all of my living room devices weren't on constant standby... (and getting to my plug sockets in my living room is... prohibitively difficult...)
-
Spot on. I need my folders something FIERCE! I'm already up to 9 pages worth of downloaded stuff and I'm getting really sick of having to scroll through all of those screens!
-
You do realise that it actually downloads and installs game and system updates in the background while the console is turned off and in standby don't you? I can't see why anyone would ever not turn standby on (unless you were really concerned about the power consumption). It's awesome! A million miles away from the constant bombardment of updates that you get on machines like the PS3 (ugh... Suddenly getting flashbacks to trying to play Little Big Planet again ) I literally turn my Wii U on and I already have an update for Pikmin 3 downloaded and installed for me. I go to play the game and OOH! Sudden surprise update with Stylus controls added out of nowhere? AWESOME! It also downloads free software for you in the background while it is turned off and in standby too. I actually got Wii Sports Club downloaded to my system for me without me even having to go to the eShop. I just turned on my console and it was already there, sitting on the menu and waiting for me to play Yeah it's brilliant! A shame that it has taken this long to add it in though. I like the Warawara Plaza, but it does greatly slow down the boot up process... I do hope that they add the ability to look at your Miiverse notifications and messages via the quick start menu eventually too (make it so that you can write text replies as well and just have the console upload it to Miiverse in the background once you quit the Quick Start menu - either by turning off the Gamepad or by opening up a game/Wii U menu).
-
If it's of any use to you... Wii U uses a pathetically small 0.2 watts while on standby. That's far less than any other console (current or last gen, fat or slim), even when downloading and installing stuff in the background while it's turned off. It's nothing short of black magic!
-
I just turned on my Gamepad and went to playing Advance Wars in-game in less than 25 seconds... (and that's from USB storage, so that'll slow things down because the Wii U has to wait for the HDD to wake up - loading up the Internet Browser from the Quick Start menu takes around 22 seconds, so that's probably more accurate) Yeah, I like this thing
-
COUGH! /Cough You're not very subtle Mr Sakurai
-
Yeah I know, hence why I mentioned "mainline" Sonic game for the next one. I want to see them continue to explore the SLW style of gameplay rather than see them go back to the Unleashed/Colours/Modern Generations style of play, but I don't see it happening
-
Still no folders!? For fucks sake Nintendo, I need them NOW!
-
Yeah this doesn't look good at all. Looks like a generic PS2 style hybrid platformer/beat em up... A shame. I loved Sonic Lost World (the real version, the Wii U one of course ), but this just looks awful and given the reception that game got, they'll probably just go back to the game-plays-itself style of Unleashed/Generations Modern Sonic style of play for the next mainline Sonic game too
