  1. The slow picking up of items in the Project Zero games always crack me up, it just looks so ridiculous Also yeah, gonna give another shoutout to Guacameele. It's a solid game and a really great little co-op title. Me and Glen-I had a blast when we played through it!
  2. Sounds cool, I'll look forward to giving those a try, hopefully soon. I noticed that you played through my Bonus 3 and 4 levels (glad you liked 'em!) but have you played Bonus 5 and 6 yet? The latter is even more devious than Bonus 3 and 4
  3. No idea I'm afraid. I know that a bunch of people on GAF keep track of this stuff though, so you're best off asking some of them if you can I reckon.
  4. Well, the final WW battle had much more to it than that... It was only the final blow where you have to use the Parry Attack; the rest was pretty damn engaging! Dodging, blocking, getting the angle right for the light arrows etc... Oh, whoops. Spoilers!
  5. Up to Chapter 17 now and I'm still really enjoying it. It's not perfect mind you, the environments do feel a bit bland and it could do with more enemy/gameplay gimmick/mission variety as it can feel a bit repetitive at times, but regardless I'm still having a good time with it The core gameplay really is very satisfying and genuinely unique, even if the game could do with some bounding box sensitivity settings for the camera as it can be a bit sluggish sometimes... Bit of a cruel joke with it coming out now though. It's really the kind of game I wanted to see from 3rd parties on Wii back during the console's heyday and of course we would finally get one well after the console is dead and buried
  6. Reminds me of this little fiasco... That was the cover for the limited edition version of Wind Waker in the UK for the Gamecube. Now bear in mind that before the game launched, we had absolutely no idea that Ganondorf was in the game in any way shape or form, nor Zelda herself for that matter... ... yeah... that one was even worse
  7. Can't see myself ever going back to AC Wild World, considering that LGTTC is basically Wild World but better in every way; but it's nice that it's there The name is pretty ironic now though, considering that Nintendo WFC is no more
  8. New footage... Interestingly it looks like they've gone back to the usual Starfox way of handling the cursor. In the E3 demo, your aiming was independent of your ship's position (ALA Sin & Punishment), but now it's tied to your ship's position, just like every other Starfox game. Also the bombs are back. Wow, that E3 demo really must've been a very early build if we're seeing fundamental differences like this. They've changed the HUD as well. The Hit counter is a blatant riff on Metal Gear Rising's logo now
  9. If you're talking about Xenoblade X, well there's some clever trickery going on there. What they're actually doing with those downloadable packs is that they're loading game data from both the disc and the HDD/internal memory at the same time; effectively cutting the loading times down by around half. As for how the digital version is going to work with this setup, I'm not really sure... Maybe load from internal memory and USB at the same time to achieve the same effect?
  10. Wii U games load at more or less the same speed for both physical and digital. It's Wii download games that are significantly faster than their disc counterparts
  11. Here's a nice analysis of the Nintendo Direct footage done by Nintendo World Report... Huge improvement on the visual front since E3 And it's only going to get even better from now until the Spring release date!
  12. Somewhere between 160k-200k from what I can gather. Don't know exactly what amount, but it's somewhere in that range. That doesn't include digital though, obviously.
  13. Yeah, I know that, but I think people are really underestimating how different they are from the Wii original. I was expecting it to be different, but even I'm surprised as to just how different they are! They're nothing alike in terms of the gameplay experience at all! The Wii game is a fast paced action game with fluid and highly responsive controls and level design to match. The Wii U/3DS game is very slow and meandering and really a much slower paced experience that has you exploring the large environment and looking for materials to upgrade Rodea. It's really surreal seeing the same concept tackled in two completely different ways, with two very different design philosophies behind them. Edit: My footage is now up on Youtube. Enjoy! : peace:
  14. Anyone else playing this? I'm playing the Wii game. 2 Chapters in and I'm really enjoying it! The camera can be a bit finicky, but the controls are really solid, the levels are well paced and the game is pretty fast paced as a whole. Good stuff! Swinging the Wii Remote to arc up, down, left and right when flying is really very satisfying! The mission structure reminds me a lot of Sonic Adventure 2. It has a similar ranking system in place as well. Haven't touched the Wii U game yet, but the Wii original seems really very good and in many ways feels like a long lost Dreamcast game! I have to say that the ground controls are a bit on the awkward side, but you don't really spend much time on the ground anyway, so I suppose it's only there for the sake of making minor adjustments. I wish this game came out earlier in the Wii's lifetime. It makes great use of the remote and really is an action game like no other; I reckon it would've made a pretty big splash if it were released during the console's heyday Edit: Ok, I've tried out the first two chapters of the Wii U game as well now and... wow! It is COMPLETELY different! You must have JavaScript enabled on your device to view Miiverse posts that have been embedded in a website. View post in Miiverse It really is a totally different game! It's even more different than I thought it would be! Level design, pacing, controls, even dialogue and story in some places! Everything is totally different! The reviews online are NOT representative of Yuji Naka's original work with the original Wii game AT ALL! I'm currently uploading high quality 60FPS footage of the first two chapters of the Wii game to Youtube right now (it'll probably take some time to finish though, since it's like a 9GB file) I am also going to be reviewing the Wii game as it should be; as its own completely individual and separate game! Someone needs to do right by Yuji Naka here! It really needs a proper release on the eShop! It's not right that it's just not being made available!!
  15. At this point, Far Cry is their biggest franchise now if Syndicate is a anything to go by, so they're sure to give it all they've got. There's a lot riding on Watch Dogs 2 as well, which will probably come next year. If they were smart they'd give AC the year off and let Watch Dogs 2 take its place for 2016...
  16. Just for reference... Really shows how bad Syndicate's result is here... Ubisoft are in real trouble if their other pillars can't make up the numbers that their main breadwinner used to bring in. Their burn rate is insane with the sheer army of development staff they throw at their games and they're already starting to make significant losses since the start of this year... For their sake, they had better hope that The Division, Farcry Primal, Rainbow 6 Siege and the inevitable Watch Dogs 2 end up performing...
  17. Agreed on this one though. Very sneaky. Theatrhythm does the same thing with its DLC songs on its ingame store (where it lists how many songs you've bought out of the total amount). It does tap into the OCD tendencies of some people. But yeah, as far as F2P goes I really find little to fault it for. It's a crane grabber and it works just like a real one, only that it's not rigged against you as far as I can tell There's a point to be made about badges being swapped out on a regular basis that encourage people to give it that One-More-Go, but that's also a touch of realism as well I suppose at that happens with real machines too; so that's a fair point to be made as well. I guess the thing I like the most about it is that it doesn't try to lie about what it is. There's no deception involved and everything seems very fair.
  18. Well for question 1, TWW HD got a huge overhaul that was much bigger than most remasters. Really, outside of the models/environments being left untouched in terms of polygon geometry (which is of course the biggest change that could be made really graphically) it was almost as big a change as OoT 3D; with some significant gameplay additions and changes (swift sail, triforce hunt changes, Gamepad integration, selfie snapshots etc). Twilight Princess HD doesn't seem to have gotten as big an upgrade graphically (mind you though, replacing all the textures is in-of-itself a big challenge for this game in particular), but it remains to be seen just how much has been changed and brought up to date on Wii U. All kinds of changes could've been made (well the Amiibo surely must be used for something significant, especially if there are links to Zelda Wii U with the Wolf Link one) and no doubt that Gamepad is going to be put to good use here like it was with TWWHD. As for question 2, well that's because they were bigger projects that saw more sweeping changes to each respective game because they rebuilt all of the character models and environments over from scratch. Doing remakes of those games is generally more feasible than games like TWW or (especially!) Twilight Princess because they're much smaller in scope. Twilight Princess is still the biggest and most content packed Zelda game ever made in terms of raw environmental size and the dungeons are significantly larger and more complex than any other Zelda game (even just the first one is about 2 or 3 times longer than any dungeon in any other Zelda game!) - so you have to consider the sheer enormity of the task that updating the visuals for a game like this would be...
  19. His final smash could be him draining all of the opponent's eShop balances and then dropping them off stage with the crane The difference with something like this and say, Pokemon Shuffle is that you know exactly what you're getting into with this. NBA works pretty much just like the real thing (only not as sleazy). You're told how much you pay up front, how many chances you get and you have a chance of winning something that actually has a use outside the game (that they could otherwise easily sell in the 3DS Theme Shop). At no point does the game claim to be free; it actually goes out of its way to explain that it costs real money to play. Very unusual for a F2P game! Pokemon Shuffle however is deceptive and the odds are clearly rigged against you. You're given a chance to progress and then are threatened with having that progress effectively taken away from you with stupid low chances of befriending Pokemon unless you pay to even the odds. NBA is also very clear about why they charge real money. The Bunny quite rightfully points out that the money you pay goes towards the upkeep of the game and the development of more badges and themes. Pokemon Shuffle (and most other F2P games) trick you into thinking that the game is just free, while the game is clearly designed to encourage you to spend. There's a push and tug there that infects the whole game design; where the game is purposely designed with aspects that make the game unfun unless you pay to skip them (be it through stamina bars or timers or whatnot). NBA is a crane grabber where you are given free goes every day. That's it. It's pretty generous really and it doesn't pretend to be something it is not
  20. It's an abhorrent atrocity. Not much else to say really My prayers go out to the friends and family of everyone sadly caught up in this horrific display.
  21. Well this month's NPD (US) results are... interesting to say the least! Stolen from GAF... That is a catastrophic result for Halo 5 and Assassin's Creed Syndicate! An almost 70% drop from Halo 4 and a 50%+ drop from Unity! Wow! Ubisoft must be sweating bullets, especially with the Vivendi sharks circling them! Destiny's expansion however has done remarkably well, especially considering that it's highly likely to have stronger digital sales than most titles as the downloadable version is significantly cheaper. Seems like Destiny really has eaten up a large chunk of Halo's audience. Bungie really made the right call in leaving the series behind with Microsoft it seems... Also looks like Halo 4 and TMCC did some real damage to the brand... Interestingly, Yoshi's Wooly World actually outperformed The Uncharted Collection! Considering that YWW hasn't done so great in Europe or Japan, it's a pleasant surprise to see it fare much better in the US (the power of Amiibo ) Seemingly it comfortably outperformed DKCTF's first week, going by the discussions going around on GAF. Really surprising, considering the saturation of the 2D platformer genre on Wii U! Hardware is down YoY, but software is up significantly. Really highlights how Nintendo are managing to earn more from a small userbase. Profits over userbase size is clearly their current mantra. PS4 is down YoY as well. Xbone won this month, but considering that came off the back of the release of their biggest exclusive game of the year, not by as much as you'd think...
  22. Well it's not impossible to have the best of both worlds... As long as the specs are adequate and it has all of the popular middleware in place (Unreal 4, Gamebryo, W-Wise etc) the underlying CPU architecture shouldn't really matter much for developers since it's all abstracted anyway; so they could keep it Power PC and maintain compatibility for WiiU/Wii/GCN while keeping developers happy. They need a big internal push to get all the middleware sorted though. NST should be providing lots of internal developer support to 3rd parties ideally and that probably means they need to bulk up in terms of manpower. Maybe they might even get Tantalus involved now, considering that they're being trusted with Zelda TP HD (and they seem to be doing a good job with that one).
  23. Pretty hilarious to see the original Pokemon R/B/Y is now rated 12 by PEGI I always did wonder what made me into a compulsive gambler... Oh wow! I actually never knew that it wasn't a hybrid GB/GBC game in Japan! Serves them right for getting the colourised versions of DKL3 and Balloon Kid and not us Awesome! Hope it happens, would be so awesome to see! Speaking of which, I was just thinking... I wonder if they'll disable the Restore Point feature for this release? I mean, it would completely destroy the game by having it there as it makes Pokemon cloning incredibly easy... It would actually be completely trivial to do, considering that GB VC games already have the ability to deactivate Restore Points with a button combo (I do it all the time). All they'd have to do is just have it disabled by default and then remove the button combo that turns them back on - literally less than 5 mins work. Hopefully we'll also see Pokemon Stadium 1 & 2 (and 0 for Japan I suppose) come to the Wii U shortly with Transfer Pak support of sorts (I'm sure it's possible. There are lots of ways you could simulate it, even if it's as low tech as putting your 3DS SD Card into the Wii U to copy save data over from the VC release). I love those games and would love to be able to revisit them on Wii U! (Hell I still play the minigames with friends of mine on a regular basis )
  24. Speaking of slaps in the face. Wouldn't it be hilarious if Nobou Uemetsu did some new remixes for the Midgar stage, considering that he's not coming back for FF7 Remake? It's not like he hasn't composed for Smash before
