It is a serious bummer I suppose you can still write about it, but it's just not the same without the screenshots

Saw this article earlier... It's a bit ill informed in some places (them supposedly making their games easier when the opposite is true), but the core sentiment is very true. Just the other day on the way to work, I saw a kid playing with his phone... What was he playing? It turns out that it wasn't a game, it was a video of a Youtuber playing GTA. Today's kids are seemingly more likely to watch others play than actually play the games themselves. That episode of South Park is spot on and Nintendo's platforms are not congurant to that at all right now. Nintendo's audience ironically probably skews older than MS and Sony's right now. Today's kids are of the YouTube generation and are used to online interaction of all kinds. Being overly protective is probably doing them more harm than good right now (though I personally like the curated nature of Miiverse myself) and they really should give kids the tools to communicate and broadcast themselves as easily as possible, without playing the Nanny so hard... It's a tough balancing act for them though because there is a very real chance of abuse... Just look at what happened with Nintendo Letterbox and Flipnote 3D! While they may not be legally responsible, they do have a moral obligation of sorts to protect their users and they very clearly take it seriously. It's like the whole free to play thing. Could they be as abusive as other developers and use the same underhanded psychological tricks to exploit vulnerable whales? Course they could! But they want to go the honest route and that puts them at a disadvantage. Same thing here in a sense. Could they support the same streaming functions and communication features? Sure, but they want to provide a safe environment for kids and that puts them at a disadvantage...

Yeah, is a bit odd, but glad to see it finally come to the EU eShop Here's hoping that we get something good on the VC to go alongside it this week. Wouldn't mind seeing them get the ball rolling this Thursday on more S-E games on the VC... (Hint, hint NOE )

Wii Fit U is good fun! Puzzle Squash in particular is a real pleasure! : peace:
-
Do note that the PS3 version does actually use the Move controller for the same kind of controls as the Wii version as well (and yes, they work just as well )
-
I'll second this! Okami HD is an amazing remaster and easily the definitive version of the game (fun fact. Hexadrive worked on both Okami HD and Wind Waker HD and did an equally good job on both )
-
Yeah, the speed is much better now, especially on my iPhone! Have any new features been added? Or is it just a host migration?

I was looking forward to the avalanche of glitch pictures from that game and all So much caption material from FF6 and Chrono Trigger... It can't go to waste!! I need to do my caption series that chronicles every single piece of inaccurate shakesperian dialogue that spurts from Frog's mouth! :p Edit: Yeah, looking at the Japanese communities for S-E's VC games, they blocked screenshots on all of them. I completely forgot about that. So yeah, I suspect that this will be the case with all of their VC games in the west as well. What's the bloody point!? What a tremendous shame Good thing that SMRPG was published by Nintendo and not S-E!
-
Wait? Really? They went and blocked that!? Bloody Square Enix... There always has to be a catch with them... We wait ages for them to finally support the Wii U VC outside of Japan and oh of course they have to screw up something...

It's not an excuse, he's quite right. The GBA was quite notorious for its overly dark screen. As such, developers would compensate for it by cranking up the brightness of the graphics in their games to compensate... Here's a quick and lazy example of what they did with Super Mario World when they ported it to the GBA... (both shots were taken from PC emulators) Here's the SNES original... and here's the GBA version... ... you see the difference? The GBA version is not actually supposed to look that bright when it is viewed on an actual GBA screen; it's supposed to look closer to the SNES version. That's why Nintendo dial down the brightness on GBA VC games, to give them their actual intended look and feel on a modern display.

Wow! That was an impressively terrible performance! The end of Wario's Gold Mine was a gold mine of disaster for me That was MENTAL! I love Frantic Mode!
-
Frantic Mode is where all the item distribution gets messed up, so you're more likely to get items like Lightning Bolts and Stars in 2nd place and green shells in last for instance!
-
Oh snap! Frantic Mode tonight?! IN!

Absolutely! It's something that the music staff wanted to do the first time around and the game's score is a natural fit for orchestra (anyone who has ever heard the Twilight Princess Movement in one of the Zelda concerts would tell you the same ) This is the perfect opportunity for them to go back and do what they wanted to do the first time around! (and considering that Wind Waker HD got re-recorded music, it would be a tremendous shame if they didn't go back and do what they wanted to do the first time around - it's the one regret that the staff at Nintendo have been public about ever since Twilight Princess was first release, so this seems like a no-brainer to me!)

Quality acting! 10/10 Would act again!

Really!? Oh wow! I never knew that! So in a roundabout sense, Smashboards is actually an official Nintendo site

USF4 is still getting shunted out suspiciously quickly... SF5 isn't even out yet. You'd think that it would get at least one more year at Evo, especially since we have Melee and Smash 4 going on side by side... (Yeah I know that there's not much crossover, but still... That's not a lot of time for players to train on SF5!) I don't doubt that TPC payed a pretty penny for that slot... They are going all out for the 20th anniversary and are clearly sparing no expense if that Super Bowl advert is anything to go by!
-
Wonder how much TPC paid for that one... That's a pretty big deal for it to take USF4's slot! Especially considering that Evo was founded because of SF4 in the first place! I'm not a big eSports guy, but it really is quite fascinating to see how hard they're pushing the eSports angle with Pokken. Very unlike Nintendo (they dabbled a little with Smash 4 and Splatoon, but this is certainly on a different level!)

I like to think that we have a pretty good batting average overall here! We should do another one for 2016 come March! Ought to be a fun one with NX details coming out this year!
-
Good news as far as I'm concerned! Had a feeling (hah!) that they'd go ahead and remove it. It was entirely inappropriate. That being said... I hope we get something else to take its place... BTW, shouldn't we had changed the name of the thread by now? It's Fire Emblem Fates, not Fire Emblem If!
-
Even Ace Attorney Dual Destinies didn't look nearly this good though! There have to be some shenanigans going on here... Either way, manly Pikachu better be voiced by Benedict Cumberbatch in the west!
-
Is this a New3DS enhanced game? Those visuals look crazy good for 3DS!
-
So... much... white! That's an incredible collection! Pretty unique as well amongst collectors. You've seen people with complete NES collections before, but how many have you seen with a complete Wii collection? This is the first that I know of!
-
Final Fantasy Tactics Advance this week! At last! We're finally getting Square Enix games on the VC!!! And this is one I've always wanted to play to boot!
-
Oh yeah, no doubt about that. Their development focus will be shifting to both NX console and handheld for sure, but we'll still be seeing 1st party games for Wii U (and probably 3DS as well) in 2017 as well. Not many (the last year of a Nintendo console's life doesn't usually have many 1st party titles), but there will be some for sure.
