  1. Not if your staying in Talyor Court flats, just got in from the undergrad Welcome Party for the CompSci department, they had Donkey Konga set up played a bit of WiFi Mario Karts with my programming lecturer, afterwards a few of us headed for the Gray Mare pub oposite the campus - was a right old laugh
  2. the nstc launch day of wii is 19 november, and a few weeks later the cube version.
  3. I know what I want to make and for what systms, I had an idea for a game for the Wii which will literally change the way you play RPGs. Carn't really go into more specifics you never know when your idea will be stolen. Yeah I know I have lots of work to do, this semester my assignment for programming module 1, is snake the more I get extra credit for making it stand out from every other student
  4. Point taken, as well howver I am intending to work in America/Japan maybe then set up a studio up back here
  5. Write so your saying to be a games programmer you have to have a compsci degree from Oxford or whatever. I think as long as I come out with a 2.1/ maybe even at a push a 2.2 will be fine. Hull university was given XNA studio from microsoft They have a suite full 360 development kits. (one of only a few unis) They have a suite full of gamecube development kits (one of only a few unis in the UK) They have just recently acuired Full psp and DS development kits (which they will add to the course next year, not only that but they are one of only a few unis actually to be given these). So I am sorry for all that think this is bullshit this is what I asked Dr. John Purdy who teaches it. P.S. BTW They showed us that information today and 95% get jobs programming - in games, financial, military aswell as medical and earn between £22500 to £26000 when graduating, futhermore hull is one of the best universities with one of the best employment ratios for for compsci. How may I ask am I 'full of shit'
  6. Actually its quite easy in computer games programming to find a job thatsbecause more and more companies are looking for students with comp. science, plus it depends at how much money a uni puts into computer science depatrment. At hull they have put alot of money into the compsci department. Plus in comp science coursework you have to quote lots of refs for why you did a particular thing, in writing the program
  7. Bingo one cookie for you yes i have to learn how to programme in C#, C, C+, C++, Open GL. I can get a job straight away. However if you have history, art,or sociolology - you need other qulifications. Now I know a teacher who went to uni and studyied philiosophy. The last exam, the one of the questions was 'What is the meaning of life' and he wrote:'The meaning of life is to die' and he got a 2.1 degree Thats easy. P.S. My degree is computer science with games develoment both of those are difficult parts in themselves
  8. the best bit of that demo was how many different ways to complete your goal is, very next gen P.S. Carn't wait to find out that the assasin has been sent back i time and is actually the guy who murdered JFK
  9. he looked realistic not saying its not i'm saying the animation is crap, ps one of my assignments at uni is to build a working version of snake.
  10. no hes not the Lord of Rings was great well because it is lord of the rings. King Kong what tribe was he making/re-making kong. Best film he could of done was godzilla vs kong but no. And he made the monkey look and act like he was a robot, not an ape/monkey critter. If you look at peter jackson you see a man without or very little creative genious as stated by one of the actors on LotR He made one film he asked universal, and I believe Warner Bros to make those other films. P.S. BrainDead was the right title for peter jackson aka no thought put behind it
  11. I've just realised that its not being made by Bungie, but the guys who make age of empires. yahooo. P.S. Why does Peter Jackson have to create a game based on the halo franchise. Why does he not create a new i.p. Personally though I believe its because he has as much creative talent as Beckham is the greatest footballer in the world. Of course Beckham is shit footballer, true footballer star of the world was and still is if he didn't retire Alan Shearer
  12. Microsoft didn't say how many were available. However they were holding a percentage back to increase the demand
  13. see i don't want to share with anyone
  14. Its just some degrees of a waste of time because people want an easy degree - examples: sociology, History, Art, Philosophy, and a few others. I myself am doing computer science with games development - I for one think its a duty not to be partying and drinking excessively but to get your head down have a bit of R+R by watching the tv or whatever and get it done quickly. And also I thin universities should consider redesigning all of there university accomadation to studio style.
  15. I am not sure about this whole HD-DVD thing is that the actual films cost £29 so that makes the real price £100, I would rather pay £100 and pick my own movie not being forced to buy a shit film to enhance some coprate teamwork to make more shit games. Looks better idea for halo franchise than make FPS
  16. where did you get £3000 from you mean the studying costs for a degree, well thats quite good when the you compare the average minimum salary job over 30 years employment considering both jobs pay increases ocur at the same rate then your takling roughly £100k better off over your lifetime before taxes are taken off if you assume most companies are looking for a computer science degree then your talking around the £25k per year before taxes. Yeah on the money front you pay it back at a minimal amount when your earning over £15k per annum
  17. The problem I will/can see is that as I am lounge back instead of tilting the wiimote in a fps/aiming bow in LoZ do i have to move the wii controller straight/or could i alternate the angle of degree to create the same movements. This is exactly the same as what one of my lecturers has stated. They were supposed to send development kits as well to hull to replace the gamecube ones they have but they should have them for the second year of the Games development course. As the guy said 'aaahhhhhh more debugging teaching'
  18. You better believe i'm bloody angry. And teamwork.. What the fuck inwant to be a renowned computer scienctist, I want to be congratulated on my achievements not a team. I am a god amongst programmers Theres me and only me.....   the problem is hear at hull you get taught everything its just reading around the subject thats the killer mate because some books we have been told to buy they showed a swanky graphic showing the average amount of books per module, showing who got which grades you would get per the amount of books you read. P.S I found it quite stupid that the lectures actually said its not our job to help you learn, nor teach you. Its the amount of information we throw at you and how much info you take in from that kinda smells like on too
  19. Unfortunately no they are not interchangeable just the swinging - I know people have said it will be comfortable. But as anyone played it through i mean from the start of the game to the first 6 hour mark point. Because i feel many people might come out with rsi. I know nintendo tried to make it comfortable but it has a problem of that you carn't lounge on your couch while playing it, I predict you'll need to be close to asensor bar to make it work.
  20. see i don't mind the idea of a launch window because it somehow makes me fel reassured when theres roughly 20 titles on launch day followed by around 2-3 titles per week it makes me feel as there is support for a console, dvd/hd-dvd/blu-ray dvd
  21. you don't need wi-fi as long as you have an Rj45 cable and an ethernet to usb adapter
  22. how do they contradict each other I said the following which makes the statements completely compatible: a)I used the phrase 'I was thinking' meaning I may buy up to that higher end of my my amount. b)Circumstances probaby have changed c)for £259.99 you get LoZ and RedSteel.(with the Wii of course) for £299.99 you get Loz, Red Steel and Rayman.(with the Wii of course) d)When I was talking about Launch I was referring to launch window. If you do not know what I mean I am talking about, listen: Launch window: from 8th December to March 2007. Launch day: 8th of December
  23. what it says £299.99 for wii ,zelda, red steel, and rayman. Plus I have got loads of money this is everything from amazon vouchers and i have a hull university bursuary £500 -so you thinking I am speaking bullshit even though I have the money I was speaking of the launch window launch day i'll get a few. Launch window probably 7.
  24. No offence or anything but seen as the HD-DVD player is techically cheaper tomake because all the software is in the 360 itself you would assume they would charge £99, and about the black 360 before they even consider it I would assume they would already have nigh-on 10-15 million users to even start thinking about a black 360. I mean if they think only 3-4 milion 360's globally is maximum user penetration, then shouldn't they increase the amount of good games to shit ones first- I bought the 360 to play lost oddysey and blue dragon
  25. So what cooky guy so i'll get it cheaper in the shops yah me - carn't wait come back on the 15th and i have a swanky new game console to play while studying for my exams though.
