I was also discussing this with a mate on msn. rallying against the mortifying cliché that is japanese or elvish script tats. we decided that if we opened up a studio, nobody asking for these would be safe. A blanket policy of writing abusive phrases in said languages would be in effect. some of our ideas were the likes of ' I can't read Japanese' and 'How on Middle Earth am I going to get laid now?' =)

Last time I checked the US wasn't a dictatorship, they werent attempting to wipe out an entire race from the face of the earth, nor were they closing down the press or indoctrinating the youth. Having said that, I havent seen the news today so can anyone clarify this radical change in policy that I've clearly missed?

Have to say I disagree with you there Ash. A good director makes the style of the film his own. but on the subject of BR2: I fucking hate that movie. not just because it's poor, which it is, but because the first is an emotionally charged, haunting movie that just so happens to be incredibly violent. the seccond is just incredibly violent popcorn crap. hey, maybe they should just remake that one for the states..

I have a feeling I should have watched one hour photo instead of: Daredevil. I'm really unsure what they were trying to do here. it's like they thought 'lets make it dark like batman, only really comicy like spiderman' and unfortunate mix it turns out, although the way they did daredevils powers was extremely cool, and it's at least given me thoughts about looking into some Daredevil books... 6/10

with some games that means nothing though. I can see the credits for DOA in about five mins if i really want to. course, it can mean you really have finished the game. Prince of Persia or Max Payne being good examples from my collection.

Ok Pandora just picked up. after a splash of 'thieves like us' from New Order (class!) it sent me a bit of a band called 'Vapours'. some kind of electro outfit. ace. I typed in Talking Heads as my starting point.

I fucking hate that magazine. I'm hesitant to let their website foul the waters of my beutiful computer.... on another note: Pandora seems cool but it just handed me some american highway rock. shit.

They sort of go back to that story in Grant Morrisons New X Men titles: throughout the series Jean becomes more and more powerful untill she can use her telekenesis to manipulate not just objects, but molecules. eventually it becomes clear that she is host to the pheonix force and right at the end the pheonix returns through her, rather than by mimicking her. I actually liked the idea in the last stand. it captured the essence of what the pheonix force meant while keeping the franchise firmly grounded in Singers little corner of the x men universe.

The Go! Team never fails, nor do Clor. and Chromeo. damn Chromeo rule =)

most of you are insane. fact. with that said: I love The Queen is Dead by The Smiths dearly. every single moment is pure, unadulterated genius. OK Computer by Radiohead. A great band at their peak. hauntingly brilliant album . For me radiohead have since become more interesting but there's no denying that this is a huge album. Grace by Jeff Buckley. one of the greats. Buckley was a genius, and one of the best song writers ever. More recent additions go to Gorillaz for Deamon Days. endlessly imaginative with a great grasp of what makes music great. brilliant album.

Yeah it's really very good. the whole first book is set around pre emptive sentinel strikes against mutants while the x men are formed in response to terrorist actions by The Brotherhood, now a larger political force rather than a team of super villans. Most of the classic elements to the story are still there- cyclops and logan are both in love with Jean, the dream remains the same etc but the characters all seem to have been altered in some way. most notably are Logan, Colossus and Storm who are a mutant hit man, a mafia arms dealer and an illigal immigrant respectivly. Xavier sees some changes too and is generally a far darker man than previously. far removed from the saintly shepherd of previous comics he is more of an actavist, willing to employ deadly force and questionable ethics in order to achieve the greater good. it's very good o_0

Ultimate books are two things. the first is 'insanely freakin wicked beyond the ken of mortal man' and the second is 'about five or seven pounds on amazon used and new'. I collect Spiderman and X Men =)

X3 pretty good overall but ratner clearly didn't know what to do with the majority of the new characters like Angel or Kitty. Angel in particular had an excellent entrance and good build up but was pretty much written out of the film. I'm also unsure why they included the pheonix storyline. Although it had it's moments it was generally a much lesser plot to the mutant 'cure' idea. Still, it's damn good fun. reccomended. 7/10
