  1. I think it's pretty blind to believe that Microsoft and Sony never even considered Wii type motion control before Nintendo unveiled the Wii. The tech has been around for years, even in it's current form. The only reason Nintendo were the first to implement it was because they'd had 2 unsuccessful generations of doing things the traditional way and needed to drasticaly change they're strategy. Oh, and another vote for the 360 pad. The GC one is close, but wireless-ness + Rumble and better triggers (imo the GC ones felt a bit cheap and flimsy) just tip the scales in the 360s favour. The D-Pads on both suck
  2. I love this thread. It goes from "OMG! SF4! Can't wait! Amazing!" to "Hmm, not to sure now" (following the first SS), then "This game is shit. It's gonna suck balls. I hate Capcom" (after gameplay details and videos were released) and finally on to where we are now: "Hmm, it's actually looking pretty good. Looking forward to playing this." Whats next? :p
  3. Asus will be sourcing components a lot cheaper than that, they're one of the biggest players in the computer market. They made Intel (and a few other Manufacturers/Suppliers) bend over backwards in order to get the contracts for the EeePC, they'll do the same again with a desktop version. Assuming the spec isn't anything spectacular then they'll be building these things for well under £100.
  4. Bundle it with a good media player (or even better, base the whole OS around media storage, streaming and playback) and there's a very obvious market for it. But regardless of all that i don't recall it saying anywhere that there isn't an optical drive in the machine. These pictures allegedly come from Asus, but could be mock-ups, or the front facia could well be a door with a disk drive behind it. Wait for more info
  5. warandchaos, if you give us his home IP we can ban it :p
  6. I've got to love the "leaked" sketch. Nice to see the Microsoft R&D department use good old paint :p April Fools, it must be.
  7. I rented a Dreamcast from the local Video Store to try it out at launch. They stopped renting consoles soon after, they regularly got broken/stolen etc and it was too much hassle to get them back or claim the money for repairs. THey had to go through the courts to get money off of some people. quote=Sanchez;722506]A gaming cafe, while a nice idea would NOT be profitable as long as gaming is still "lame". It might work in japan. Some internet cafe's will have a game console or two around for people to play. We also had one of these. It was ace! The place was ALWAYS packed at the weekends and that was back in the N64 days (at least 10 years ago). The only problem? Games were too expensive. They got shut down for having pirated versions of most of they're PS1 and Sega Saturn games
  8. Tonight you say? I'll pop back on here at 10 to see if anyone has posted, playing M2TW at the moment
  9. Does it have a headphone port on the back? If yes (which is 99.999% likely) then it has a soundcard or onboard sound. As for the speakers, those Logitech ones or ok. Im using them at the moment and for £30 they're pretty good, just wished i'd paid the extra £20 for a pair of Z4s as they're amazing! I gave my parents a set for christmas and they really do show the X-230s up. But yeah, for £30 the X-230s are pretty much the best around.
  10. If you love Wipeout then why do you need F-Zero to become a Wipeout clone? Surely you'd be better just playing the real thing?
  11. So basically Nintendo want to make Wipeout? Great. Now im just waiting on "F-Zero isn't very accessible so we decided to slow the pace down a little."
  12. The Eee costs a couple of hundred at most, you could easily buy one as a spare computer (say in the living room, hooked up to the TV or something). It's an extra device, like a PDA is an extra device. With the Macbook Air you pay a couple of grand so you'd expect it to be functional enough to be your main computer. Admittidly if you have really deep pockets then you could use the Air as a spare computer, but in the real world very few people have that sort of cash. If it's aimed at traveling businessmen then they're obviously rather rich businessmen.
  13. I can't believe i didn't play Ikaruga on the cube! It's brilliant! My fingers hurt already though, only been playing half an hour!
  14. To be fair if it wasn't £150 i'd go, seems a bit much! Maybe they'll drop prices near the time, i know Wireless do if that doesn't sell out
  15. Son of a B****! Why do Labour insist on making things hard for students? With one hand they're trying to encourage more people to stay in enducation and with the other they're fucking them over
  16. It depends really, getting a degree is only a good idea if you need it to do a specific job. If you don't have a specific job in mind then you aren't really achieving much by going to University. The jobs market is saturated with graduates at the moment. If you haven't got the specific degree that your chosen career needs, or relevant job experience then you are pretty much screwed for a good job. The programming and IT markets are pretty good examples of this. There's way too many people coming through with Computer Science and similar degrees, the graduate unemployment rate is rising quickly. At the moment the only students getting particularly good jobs are those with either high grades, very specific degrees or work experience (and i don't mean the year in industry that everyone does). The fun king is 20
  17. And now we have the line-up poster, including stage splits My enthusiasm suddenly disappeared. Not sure i'll bother going to download after all, it's expensive, im going to V and Reading and tbh i could probably find better use for the money than going to a 3rd festival. There's only 3 acts there that i want to see, haven't seen before and won't be seeing at some other point this summer anyway. (JEW, Cornell and Motorhead)
  18. That is just brilliant. There's nothing more to say about it.
  19. Smart arse After seeing what a beard net looks like screw the vote. Im NOT wearing that! Should be in a new job now, been waiting to be transfered for 2 months now! The time they're taking to replace me i may aswell quit and get a new job (probably not in that order)
  20. My boss got a complaint from a customer about my beard today. I now have an ultimatum. Shave, or wear a beard net. Anyone with legal knowhow know a way i can keep my bear while avoiding a net? Im desperate :p Failing that: PUBLIC VOTE. Shave or wear the net? You have one hour to decide.
  21. Im starting to really look forward to this. Should be a great weekend! Hey! I rese... oh, wait Srsly? Your boss is a ****. Only reason i can go is because i played the birthday card. I told my boss that im turning 21 and either i get the time off or i turn up very, very drunk for work. She saw my point :p Oh yeah, and birthday snap
  22. Good plan Im not a regular smoker, but i'll pick up some supplies for special occasions (a few cigars, maybe some of that cherry baccy you guys are talking about). I still miss smoking in pubs, used to enjoy being able to have a cigar with my pint. Didn't do it often, but enough that i miss it. EDIT: Oh yeah i booked the weekend off work
  23. Im currently working as a butcher. Been looking at quite a few career changes of late, im nearly 21 so i figure it's about time i start thinking about a career rather than the easiest way to earn beer money :p Right now being a Pharmasist looks like a damn good job. You do 4 years at uni, then a further year training and at the end of it you're working in a secure job with a £40k/year salary! Sounds like good work too, and they're in demand at the moment! Being in education til im 26 sounds more than a little scary though I guess i'll keep thinking. Until a couple of months back i was planning on training as a Chef, but the pay sucks ass, the work is hard and the promotional prospects aren't great. I think i'll just keep it as a hobby :p
  24. It probably is, the Eee PC doesn't have one either. Asus are going for cheap with these machines, if they can knock a few quid off their costs by dropping an optical drive then they will
  25. No, they don't. American prices are without VAT, each state charges different rates Still, it's only about £100 in the US so they are taking the piss with £180. £120-£140 would be more in line with the normal price increase we have over here...
