Mandelson would be awesome :p Can't say I trust the guy one bit but at least he'd give us one hell of a show for a few years. I actually think that first point might be a mistake. Bringing AV in immediately and without referendum when it wasn't offered at the election (only a referendum was offered IIRC) could well backfire. Not everyone is in favour of moving from FPTP and those that aren't will be seriously pissed about the decision being taken away from their hands. Interesting though, that's both parties apparently offering 4 posts, with Home Secretary and Chief Treasury Secretary among them. The Conservatives apparently offered Transport and Schools along with those two. That's a good group, playing in to some of the Lib Dems stronger policies and keeping them away from areas where they're unpopular (Defence and Foreign Policy).

The bookies have David Miliband as favourite, but I'm not so sure personally. If there's a Lab/Lib coalition and that coalition suffers a lot of public backlash then Miliband won't go near a leadership contest, he's ducked shit for too long to risk it all over the leadership of a highly unpopular coalition government. I'm gonna pop a bet on Alistair Darling. I've just got this sneaky feeling that he's being lined up to take Brown's place. No mention of him as either PM or Labour Leader a few months ago, then there was the odd bit of talk, then the bookies started to rate him. As of today he's third on 10/1 behind Alan Johnson at 6/1 and Miliband at 1/2. That's down from 25/1 last week. Actually made me lol. Lord Ashcroft would be a good shout too, bloke's already pissed that the Tories didn't gain a majority (so much monies so badly wasted! )

Same thoughts here really. No mention of him retiring from politics though. I guess he's keeping his place as an MP. It'll be interesting to see if he will keep a low profile, wouldn't be at all surprised to see him go from PM/Labour leader in to another (Shadow?) Cabinet position (Chancellor again?). Whatever he does I really hope he gets a break from all of the slander he's been getting from the right-wing media. They've created a lot of animosity towards him with a lot of people blaming GB for the recession, for redundancies and all manor of other things (Not that he doesn't bear some responsibility, but a global problem all on one man's head? I think not).

Hmmm... they can do that? Major suckage. I'm guessing that extra 500MB doesn't carry from month to month

Dell 14z from Amazon, £399. http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0036TGP7O/ref=nosim/?tag=hotukdeals-21 You can get more powerful machines for the money, but they won't have 8 hours of battery life and they'll be a bit heavier. It depends what you use it for though, you might have need for something with more grunt.

Slow results tonight. So far it's very unexpected, with Labour holding a lot of seats that the Tories hoped to take yet losing others. Still expecting a Hung Parliament.

Land is Power candidate. Can't remember his name. Basically he's a commie. So angry about this stuff about this stuff about people being turned away from polling stations. It's a disgrace. I don't think calling it a conspiracy is accurate, but it's certainly undemocratic. Those polling stations should open again tomorrow, either for a re-vote or for those people who were turned away to be allowed to vote again. I'll be disappointed if the Conservatives secure a majority, but at least it's a democratic result. Nobody should ever be turned away from a polling station. No ballots left? Get people to write their answer down. No paper? Go out and buy some. Can't find any? Record them on a fucking laptop.

I don't think I've seen a single poll that puts the Tories on 60% of the popular vote... Nobody knows who will win yet. If the polls are accurate then it's a Hung Parliament and nobody will know who will come out on top there. It all hangs on whether or not Gordon Brown resigns, if he doesn't and can't secure the votes needed to push the 'Queen's Speech' through Parliament then get ready for another election. If he does resign then we'll either have a minority Tory government or (if it will shift the balance of power) a Tory/Ulster Unionist coalition government. That's the reason for the paranoia among the Conservative media. They can't afford a Hung Parliament because everyone knows Brown will do everything he can to keep the Conservative Party out of office. That doesn't necessarily mean Brown will stay, there's the possibility (though I doubt it will happen) of him resigning after the Queen's Speech. It's going to be a very interesting couple of weeks if there's no majority government

Not sure if I'll pick it up or not now, too many games due this month. I'm only planning on buying one so it's probably Alan Wake or Red Dead...
-
Just bought them. Thanks for the heads up What a nice little offer, the chance to help charity and indie developers whilst getting some good games on the cheap

I don't think there's that much mystery around who is going to come out top in this poll In fact, I'd bet on the Tories coming dead last :p

There's not a lot in it these days. If you're not susceptible to the phosphor trails that some people see on plasma screens then there's no real disadvantage. Better to judge it on a set by set basis than tech vs tech because the gap between what Panasonic are capable of doing with Plasma tech and Samsung/LG is really quite large.

Not really worth arguing with, are you? Your other post already made it pretty clear that you're still incapable of doing anything but talking out of your arse. If you're right then why don't you go ahead and list some compelling reasons why people shouldn't go with 64-bit Windows (the initial question that you were "answering")? What software and drivers don't work? Which bits of Microsoft's own software catalogue don't run on the 64-bit OS? There are reasons against, but they pretty much boil down to there being hardware incompatibility with legacy hardware. That's hardware that the manufacturers themselves have long since abandoned and stopped developing for. There's also legacy software compatibility (particularly with old games) but that's a different issue that's common on all version of Windows since Vista, they removed support for some of the older graphical technologies.

I hadn't realised. None of my mates or anyone at work picked it up, I kinda assumed that was pretty normal.

Hardly surprising news for anyone that's been near the Guardian website/iPhone App/paper for the last month or so :p Anyone see Gordon Brown's Paxman interview? Damn. He really needs to learn to speak like that more often! Paxman didn't have a clue what to do :p It's the first time I've seen Brown be given the chance to explain the past 13 years of the UK's financial history. It's quite compelling really and it does bring in to focus just how much he's achieved. It also makes me worry about how much of that the Tories could be about to destroy. The IoD Conference was on afterwards on BBC Parliament and yet again I found myself worried about what George Osborne was saying...

I was trying not to be insulting

Choze, you do realise that is complete bollocks, right?

Colour me a communist! Never really thought that would happen.

Spotify would probably be your best bet for music on Android. Obviously the price is a pain in the ass, but the new version on the iPhone (which I assume will be coming soon to Android) is brilliant. It's got support for live streaming, offline playlists and your own music collection, there's an On-The-Go type of playlist thing in the form of Starred Tracks and you can scrobble to Last.fm. I'd be willing to bet that the Android version will get the new Social stuff that's just come to the desktop player too. The cost is the down side, but it might be worth it given the rather lack-lustre stock media software on Android.

Oh come off of it. It's hardly just politicians who are like that. And bullying? Maybe true, but it's a pretty tenuous link to this episode. She wound him up the wrong way, he vented in private. I'm yet to meet someone who isn't like that (Bar those who would vent in public. Those people don't make good politicians, they make UKIP and BNP politicians.). It hardly counts as bullying the woman. She was just yet another idiot that's bought in to the idea that immigration is firstly a bad thing and secondly out of control. Illegal immigration is, yes, but that's a different ball game and one that doesn't seem to be discussed much.

Some sites are now reporting that Activision will close Infinity Ward down after the second MW2 map pack is done. As many of a quarter of Infinity Ward's staff have walked out over the past month and it's no longer viable to keep the studio running. Modern Warfare 3 development will be split between two other studios.

Bunch of idiots. Why they admitted to paying $5000 for it I'll never know, stupid beyond belief! Still, I bet the whole incident has created a fair bit of revenue for Gawker media, so while it may result in criminal charges it was probably worth it.

Yeah, because it worked for so many titles this year. Seriously though, good luck to them. Arkham Asylum was fantastic and it's a real shame that it didn't sell as well as the bigger releases over Christmas.

I don't really fancy taking out an iPhone contract. It'll cost me more and I like to change my phone every so often, it becomes difficult to do that if I'm shelling out £40+ every month. I'm only planning to keep the new iPhone for a few months before selling it on and buying a WP7 handset. I'll just skip it if I can't get a Micro-SIM on my current contract.
