If you're confident to do it then buy your own RAM and upgrade it yourself. They want £72+VAT to upgrade the RAM, which is more than 2x2GB sticks cost in the first place without taking in to account the value of the 2x1GB sticks. The rest of the upgrade prices seem pretty reasonable though (more expensive than buying them separately and installing yourself, but not excessively so).

http://www.onecompare.com Personally I'd pick the Legend over the Desire. I've had a go of both now and the Desire definitely runs smoother, but the Legend just feels amazing in the hand. Cold, solid and beautiful. Battery life is a bit poor on both devices, with the Desire being a few hours worse than the Legend (which has an oddly low battery life considering the battery capacity and lower spec hardware). As for internet bundle, I've never gone over the 512MB Vodafone one in the 18-months I've been with them. I've only used 985MB in the three months I've had the iPhone. That's with a lot of web surfing, RSS feeds, email, music streaming through Spotify, and a few videos on YouTube.

Been using the SVU in this way, up close with a low mag scope (4x for me, can't handle the red dot for some reason). Works a charm, as long as you hit em in the head! Another evil Recon tactic; on Rush, attack the M-COM station, plant C4 on it, set the charge, throw in a motion sensor and take cover. Way too often the enemy will pile in to disarm the charge and won't see the C4... BOOM! I feel a little bit cruel every time I do it

Pretty much every site that looks at AV software rates Norton highly, usually top 5. The reason it's hated isn't because it isn't good, it's because it's a proper, professional-level AV program. It's resource-heavy. You're a lot less likely to get a virus with it installed vs most other AV programs though, one of the highest detection rates in the business (and unlike McAfee it doesn't throw up false positives all the time), however it is overkill for a home system. A light, free AV package and some common sense are good enough.

Norton is actually one of the best, but it's a bit overkill for a home computer. Personally I use MSE: http://www.microsoft.com/security_essentials/ Decent detection rate, low resource use and the lowest number of false positives of any free AV software. Basically it's a case of install it and forget about it. On the down side it's not good with malware (so it's a good idea to have something like Spybot installed as well) and virus scans are slow (due to the low resource use). Avast is better, but it's also more invasive and uses more system resources. AVG doesn't stack up to either.

I'll be up for a blast in the morning some time (make it afternoon, doubt I'll be awake in the morning). See if we can get 4 from here?

Depends what you're looking for. The Nokia 6303 Classic is a great classic style phone, owned one for a few months and it's really quite impressive (Build quality puts mobiles at 5 times it's cost to shame! Solid, cold metal). http://www.trustedreviews.com/mobile-phones/review/2010/03/08/Nokia-6303-Classic/p1 HTC's Tattoo is pretty cheap now; http://www.play.com/Mobiles/Mobile/4-/11718765/HTC-Tattoo-Android-Sim-Free-Unlocked-3-1-Megapixel-Mobile-Phone/Product.html?&_$ja=tsid:11518|cc:|prd:11718765|cat:Mobile+ http://www.trustedreviews.com/mobile-phones/review/2009/11/09/HTC-Tattoo-Android-Smartphone/p1 Not used one myself, but seems good for the money. Sony have the X10 Mini on it's way too. Rumour is around £200 sim-free, but release date is sketchy at the moment. Could be a while...

I moved from T-Mobile to Vodafone and certainly can't complain. Better signal (just been upgraded again as well), better CS, better price plan. The only thing that's actually worse than when I was with T-Mo is my data allowance has gone down. No real issue though, I've never gone over 512MB. Even now I've got an iPhone and I'm streaming music and YouTube stuff I've still only gone through 850MB over 3 bills. The best operator is very subjective though, all of them suck for coverage in some areas and all of them have customer service horror stories. Check the coverage maps, ask people you know and go in store and ask them to show you how much signal they have on their handset (the manager in the Voda store was happy to do this when I joined, though I think he just wanted to show off his handset :p). Basically, go with the one with the best coverage local to you, rather than whoever people recommend on here.

I don't like the Desire. It's a spec sheet in a rather unappealing case that's too thin to fit an adequate battery inside. The Legend looks great, apparently feels well made (going on impressions from people I know who used it at CeBIT), has good battery life and it's still a powerful phone. I get the impression HTC actually though about this one.

Happy Meal is ageless: no decay in a year on a shelf

I wonder how long it'll take them to get this on Blu-Ray in the UK? Still waiting on Generation Kill (DVD is out, Blu isn't). Sky Movies HD will have to do for now. Shame, because I bet it'd look amazing! Roll on April 4th.

Saw this on Google Reader: Play. It's actually quite scary! This Happy Meal is one year old. Yes, it was bought a year ago and it's been sat on a shelf all year! No decay. At all. I knew McDonald's food was shite, but this is a whole new level! How do they do it? It's like magic! http://www.babybites.info/2010/03/03/1-year-happy-meal/

It's amazing how much I've forgotten. Can't remember how to do the single player levels and I got my ass handed to me in multiplayer. Damn...

Pirate Bay? There really is no hope for some people, is there? It's £7. Seven measly pounds. They've had it on sale as low as three quid.

Try checking Carphone Warehouse for the Milestone. They started stocking it at the start of the month. Gonna jump on the WinPho bandwagon in September I think. I'm sure there'll be teething problems, but so far it's basically a list of what I'd want to see in a phone. The iPhone has pretty much killed off my "no multitasking" worries, it only annoys me with Spotify (which I'd dump for Zune Pass anyway). I grabbed the dev tools today and they're pretty good, best I've used for a mobile device anyways. I might pick up the HTC Legend in the meantime, it's the only thing out that actually looks in any way interesting (can't really say the Desire appeals to me tbh).

My brother picked up a Sony DSLR after a lot of debating last year. Can't remember the model, but I think it was the A300? No idea what it can/can't do, but he seems chuffed with it (this post is probably no help at all, is it? :p).
-
mobilephonesdirect have it on T-Mobile at £25/month for 18 months + £5.99 for the handset. You get 300 mins, 300 texts and Web&Walk, or 600 mins, 500 texts and W&W on a 24 month contract. Not a bad price, actually beats buying handset only! Still no hardware QWERTY though. The iPhone has taught me that touchscreen keyboards are a crap idea. It's not that it's difficult to type on, it's the loss of screen space to the keyboard. Not being able to see what your typing properly because the keyboard is in the way (or not being able to re-read whatever you're replying to) is lame.

I think it's a no for the InTouch Max, all depends on whether or not it sells well and LG decide they want to upgrade it. Had a look around and there doesn't seem to be any kind of hacking community for the phone, so it's unlikely to gain any updates by other means. HTC and Motorola are the two best bets for Android devices really, they been working closely with Google on their handsets and definitely have updates in the works for all/most of their handsets.

Seems like this game has been a bit of a hit (on PC at least). EA dropped an announcement today stating that the reason why people were having trouble connecting on PC was simply because they didn't have enough server capacity for that number of simultaneous players. They've upgraded it to 150,000 so far and will continue to increase the capacity. I'm not sure what the 360 and PS3 figures are like, but in excess of 150,000 players at any one time is pretty good for a PC game. Nobody's sure how many are trying to get on yet, but there's still reports about the capacity not being enough.

If you plan on playing a lot of games and want them running at maximum on high resolution displays (or multiple monitors) then get an ATi 5850 (£200-£220). It's slightly more powerful and slightly cheaper than the GTX285 while having lower power requirements and producing less heat. It also packs DirectX 11 and Eyefinity (multi-monitor) support. Seems like a no-brainer unless you want to buy in to 3D Vision. If your gaming requirements will be lower then the 5770 or GTX250 are both pretty good purchases. To put it in perspective, I'm running a less powerful card than both of those and yet I can max out all of my games on my 19" monitor and it even makes a good go of things on my 1080p TV. Tom's Hardware rate the 5770 as the best purchase at both $145 and $165 (USD) price marks, and as being a good purchase for resolutions of 1080p and below. Certainly a more sensible purchase for someone just looking to dabble in PC gaming. I'd lean towards the ATi card again, it's newer tech and more likely to hold value. It's not the falling pound that's caused that. The price of flash chips in general has flown through the roof. RAM, SSDs and flash memory are now expensive no matter what currency you trade in, all down to a sudden surge in demand from the mobile sector (cheers Apple, your iPad is costing us money before it's even on sale! ). You're right though, prices will come back down again. The lack of value in the pound is what's caused stagnant prices elsewhere in the market though. Intel's i7 920, for example, is exactly the same price as it was last year. Same with most components, though case prices have increased again.

Partly that and partly the animation for loading the next bullet comes to fast. I don't really get a chance to see how much I missed by to correct my next shot so it's trial and error. So far I've worked out that bullets drop less and fly faster than I'm used to. Not worked out how low I need to aim yet to get consistent headshots yet though, or how far in front I need to aim to consistently hit moving targets. Meh, it's coming slowly. Just need a decent semi-automatic rifle now. When did you wind up in Canada?!?!? 10 maps. Five for Rush and Five for Conquest. Not many, but they're HUUUUGE!
-
This is why I sold the game. Worked out how easy it is to cause havok and top the tables just by legging it around the map stabbing people. Gets boring after a day or two

For the Medic it has to be the XM8 LMG. Just the right balance between Assault Rifle and LMG. Add in the scope and you're good to go :p Only Med unlock I'm yet to get is the MG3. Will bag it tomorrow. I wasn't really expecting Medic to be my favourite class, but it is. Can't get my head around sniping in this game for some reason and I've never liked SMGs. The Assault class was never going to be my cup of tea, I prefer to be a support class where possible. Medic just seems to click. Brings back memories of DF: Black Hawk Down.

Do you not get a parachute in the console version? I just tap jump after falling for a second and the chute opens.

Heroes works for it too. Makes for a nice easy Vet status
