HD-DVD vs Blu-Ray is a discussion about the future of media and how we view it and therefore AppleTV, 4OD, BT and Virgin Media are all relevant. All these services effect the possible lifespan of HD-DVD and Blu-Ray, because ultimately it is these services that the winner of the next-gen DVD fight will have to battle against for consumers money. At the moment it appears that these services may actually be surpassing the next-gen DVD formats, after-all there are FAR more people in this country signed up to Virgin Media than own Blu Ray and HD-DVD devices (combined).

I cant really see the Apple thing being an issue, they seem as bothered about next-gen DVD as Microsoft and they stand to make little to no money from it. AppleTV is where they will go and if Blu Ray starts to get in the way they'll be straight off that band-waggon TBH if Microsoft wanted HD-DVD to win badly enough they could make it simply by limiting Blu Ray support in Windows. If people couldnt use the disks in their comps then they'd soon abandon them

Looks ok, would rather have had Ultimate Spiderman 2 though. Animated games look so much nicer than ones that are trying to be real On a side note - is Marvel Ultimate Alliance any good? Im tempted to pick it up after the whole Civil War thing brought me back into comic book mode

Im with you there tbh, PC > 360 i just cheaped out for this gen lol Only thing i ever had against PC gaming was all the time spent installing, uninstalling and configuring games and utilities to get the whole thing working just right. And the price of a decent gaming rig of course For me, being able to throw all that out the window and have things just work is great, hence why i like Live

You've ended you're point right there. Xbox Live beats PC online because its far more convenient. On the PC you need Ventrillo, Teamspeak and X-Fire all installed and configured to get voice chat and friends lists in every game. Its inconvenient and fiddly. Live integrates all this into itself seamlesly and adds more functionality besides. What does all this cost? £2.70 a month Infact, Gamespy's Roger Wilco costs about the same as a Live sub! Live might have to change to fight the PS3 online service, we'll see. For now though Live is still the best format for Online Gaming (as 90% of people who own a 360 would agree)

I did this. I dont regret it The 360 has far better games and you can easily build up a sizeable library on the cheap

Its a pointless debate, between the 2 formats they only hold a couple of percent of the market and by the time they get to anything more substantial (like 10%) IPTV and Movie Downloads/Streams will be running properly. Ultimately i cant see either format winning out, its like the SA-CD vs DVD-A debate of a few years ago. Both formats messed around and then iTunes appeared and shut them both up

Playing on Live it is blatantly obvious why it costs £40 a year. Microsoft actually do recycle a fair bit of that money back into it Live is already leagues ahed of the competition and with additions like IPTV and XNA due its just going to get further and further ahed. As this topic is comparing the 360 to the Wii though the question is really: Would i like to pay £40 a year for the worlds best online service or pay nothing and get, well, nothing? If it was my decision i'd pick the 360. Theres a lot of mis-informed people in this thread calling it 'more expensive'. In a way they are right, but look at bundles + the price of available games and the 360 is a much better buy.
